So why is only the western release censored and not the original Japanese if what I'm hearing is accurate?
And why does Sony need to cater to these other cultures in all regions when apparently Nintendo and others can do just fine without it?
And why is it only nudity and not violence like some these other countries are less favorable too?
I don't care if you think it's minor I personally don't like it because believe it or not sometimes I like the occasional bit of nudity(even if I don't in this particular instance) and feel this sets a bad precedent for the future if companies are forced to cater to Sony.
Ratings boards exist for a reason, to judge the content of a game based on the laws of the region it's stationed in and classify games on their bases.
dmc5 is also a AAA game and they did it anyway. cyberpunk is also going to be in another league, for example cdpr said that male and female genitals in the character creator were only censored for the e3 demo but in the final game you're going to see your character completly naked

Yeah. What's funny about this is that people wouldn't have a problem with the butt itself, but rather everything surrounding the butt (i.e how Trish is portrayed as a whole in the story) so this won't actually do anything to change the opinions of those that have a problem as their problem exists whether or not they see the ass.
That's not really the point though. The question is, if they're doing it with this dumb nothing throwaway scene, what else will the censor?

I said Sony will only bully niche Japanese developers for their games, but it turns out that they are not ok with third-party AAA games as well.

Nintendo only cares to censor their own western releases. They probably have no interest to allocate extra resources to censor third-party titles.

Well they made one good game, one decent game and best game this generation.
Secondly I hope you have same mindset towards other developers , ya know like Kojima, From software , Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Rockstar, Nintendo . Since those companies get endless praise on ERA .
I promise you that the majority of the US consumers that might be interested in buying Devil May Cry V do not give a shit about nudity. The media here might create that perception but it's never been a sentiment shared by most of the people actually playing games in this country. Sony is trying to appease people that will always attempt to fearmonger and create controversy around video games. Look at this classic example... this is what Sony is worried about. Complete ignorance.
I'd be just as upset if they censored male nudity. This has got nothing to do with wanting to see naked female butts (if I wanted to see that, which I don't because I'm gay as shit, I'd go look at straight porn - or hell, Google Image search) and everything to do with the naked human form being a natural fucking thing that should not need to be censored. It's not about the gender of the person the butt belongs to, it's not about the specific scene it's shown in, it's not even about the game, it's about the principle. It's about the battle of mindless prudishness vs basic common sense.

I've actually never tried a dmc game before. I just think if it's rated M you should show butt and not have a problem. Show dong for all I care. Why can't adult nudity be normalized this way like violence is?
I'm not particularly interested in Kojima, From, Rockstar games but what in particular are you talking about in regards to each? I was very irritated with the whole Gerudo Town nonsense in Breath of the Wild. The amount of streamers I had to unfollow because of the constant trap usage was surprising to me.

There should be a heavy backslash against this. Triss is clearly an adult and the game is +18. Is ok to see killing everywhere but a butt is not ok?. This new policy is the dumbest fucking thing. I know people hate the violence vs nudity debate but like it really is absurd when MK11 can do all the insanely gross stuff that it does and a pair of butt cheeks that are only partially visible anyways are censored.
There's nothing to suggest Sony will censor your virtual women, dude. Take a breather already. I wouldn't equate not being able to see Trish's bumcrack in a scene that lasts one second to Sony censoring all instances of nudity in their upcoming games. This is just a dumb slippery slope you and others in this thread perpetuating as a kneejerk reaction to the OP.

Why would the same version of the game in japan not have this "bug" when the NA version does? They are literally the same build of the game on the same platform.
Outlast and The Order 1886 (a Sony game) both had swinging dicks. I'm not sure this is a Sony thing, at least this specific instance. If the JPN PS4 version isnt affected I cant see how Sony would let that through but not the US version
Also, how does ERA square itself with this censorship outrage thread and the "I have no pants but i must scream" thread? The asscrack provides nothing to the scene and just serves as mild titilation.
For third party releases, Sony's been more censorship heavy than Nintendo for the entire 21st century (Sony's US branch, anyway). See BMX XXX for a ~17 year old example.
