So why is only the western release censored and not the original Japanese if what I'm hearing is accurate? It's an issue if you want to sell the game in Saudi Arabia or to the other various Muslim countries across the world. There is more to the world than just the US, Japan and Western Europe.
Personally I think it's a very minor thing to either see or be covered, hardly worth the cheat beating and blathering that is happening in this thread, but I have a wider understanding that there are places and people where this would be an issue
Probably exactly the same as it does on everything else. It's too big (for lack of a better term) to censor.
Yeah. What's funny about this is that people wouldn't have a problem with the butt itself, but rather everything surrounding the butt (i.e how Trish is portrayed as a whole in the story) so this won't actually do anything to change the opinions of those that have a problem as their problem exists whether or not they see the ass.Yeah totally agree. It's such a shame that especially in the US people are so uptight about adult nudity. I get the censorship from Sony on some of the visual novels where it shows females that look underage. That makes sense. But this is a woman's butt. Like how offended can people get? Plus it's rated M+ or pegi 18.
This is a perfect example for the case of video games as art. I consider them art. Should we go to the guggenheim and just start throwing up sheets on paintings that little Johnny and Annie might see? So dumb
That's not really the point though. The question is, if they're doing it with this dumb nothing throwaway scene, what else will the censor?Yeah, yikes. I'm convinced most people complaining about this haven't even played the game. Like I mentioned earlier, it's a dumb throwaway scene that lasts a second. If that's enough for you to pull out the pitchforks then you need to take a break from the computer a bit.
Nintendo only cares to censor their own western releases. They probably have no interest to allocate extra resources to censor third-party titles. Are Sony more censorship heavy than Nintendo nowadays? What a turnaround that would be.
There's some funny comments in this thread that I won't point out, but can we please remember that Devil May Cry isn't about asscracks? Its about kicking the shit out of demons. So weird to see this reaction over a light coming out of a womans crack in an action game.

Who cares if it isn't the point. Why does that matter?Yeah, its not like its an integral scene in the game. If it was something like a proper intimate scene in a love story section of a game, I'd understand how it would distract from the intimacy of it all, or the artistic vision. However, in this? Its laughable to get this mad.
Well they made one good game, one decent game and best game this generation.I love the year of 2019 where CDPR is looked at as the savior. Lest we forget because they make great games, but they have no issues with transphobia whatsoever. I hate this worship the company gets because they've made one amazing game.
I promise you that the majority of the US consumers that might be interested in buying Devil May Cry V do not give a shit about nudity. The media here might create that perception but it's never been a sentiment shared by most of the people actually playing games in this country. Sony is trying to appease people that will always attempt to fearmonger and create controversy around video games. Look at this classic example... this is what Sony is worried about. Complete ignorance.Yeah totally agree. It's such a shame that especially in the US people are so uptight about adult nudity. I'd be just as upset if they censored male nudity. This has got nothing to do with wanting to see naked female butts (if I wanted to see that, which I don't because I'm gay as shit, I'd go look at straight porn - or hell, Google Image search) and everything to do with the naked human form being a natural fucking thing that should not need to be censored. It's not about the gender of the person the butt belongs to, it's not about the specific scene it's shown in, it's not even about the game, it's about the principle. It's about the battle of mindless prudishness vs basic common sense. You can bet your ass (pun intended) you'd be seeing a very different reaction if they censored Dante's ass or dong instead.
I really don't want to know the quarries of salt the internet must be leveraging at this, if this is Era's reaction to it. Get a fucking grip, people.
Why should people not be upset by this? Other then that you personally don't care for the nudity what makes you the objective perspective on how people should react? You can bet your ass (pun intended) you'd be seeing a very different reaction if they censored Dante's ass or dong instead.

I've actually never tried a dmc game before. I just think if it's rated M you should show butt and not have a problem. Show dong for all I care. Why can't adult nudity be normalized this way like violence is?Yeah. What's funny about this is that people wouldn't have a problem with the butt itself, but rather everything surrounding the butt (i.e how Trish is portrayed as a whole in the story) so this won't actually do anything to change the opinions of those that have a problem as their problem exists whether or not they see the ass.

Secondly I hope you have same mindset towards other developers , ya know like Kojima, From software , Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Rockstar, Nintendo . Since those companies get endless praise on ERA .
There's nothing to suggest Sony will censor your virtual women, dude. Take a breather already. I wouldn't equate not being able to see Trish's bumcrack in a scene that lasts one second to Sony censoring all instances of nudity in their upcoming games. This is just a dumb slippery slope you and others in this thread perpetuating as a kneejerk reaction to the OP.Who cares if it isn't the point. Why does that matter?
So all nudity going forward just needs to be removed according to you if it's not thematically important? Just because you don't like it means you can just tell everyone else how to feel and how we need to abide by your since of morality?
Do you mean besides all the incidents of Sony censorship up to this point? There's nothing to suggest Sony will censor your virtual women, dude.
Is this a recent thing? I mean, Dragon Age Inquisition and The Witcher 3 had uncensored nudity just fine on the PS4.
