Loving the game so far. Im stuck though since apparently I need Daffodil to cut down a maple tree but cant seem to find anywhere on the boat. Using the bell didnt work either.

While I wait for the game to download, is it like any other games anyone has played? I got slight Battlechef Brigade vibes from the art style...maybe a bit like Night in the Woods?

The trophies popped up on psnprofiles about a week ago, so it was to be expected anytime soon, but I'm so happy this finally came out!

FYI Spiritfarer is 30fps on Switch, 900p docked, 720p handheld. Source is a dev via the Steam forums.

(60fps on other platforms, so I'll grab it on PS4)

It seems that this game is everything the reveal trailer showed (and everything I hoped it would be and more)*

*at least that is my impression after the first hour

The trees are on the islands. As you explore you'll see a status thing, so you can tell if there are trees available to cut or if you still need to wait for them to spawn.

Edit: Sorry, saw other response. You went to the tree and pressed the action button, right? Usually Dafodil goes right to the other side and a saw forms from the light to cut the tree. If that's not happening, might think of joining their Discord and reporting the bug?

The trailer is great. Made me want to dive right in. Will be downloading on Xbox, but might double dip on Switch as well.

Would've ended up buying this on Switch but PC Game Pass on day one is a hell of a deal considering I still have 8 days on my sub. It looks lovely!

Yeah it was some sort of bug but rebooting my game did the trick!

How long does it take to unlock 2 player coop? 30 mins, 5, and hour? Going to download this and play thru it with my wife tonight (well start it)

Great to hear! Yeah, quite a few bugs that were found during beta simply required just a restart to get things going.

Should be right in the beginning. I only did single player, but you have the option when you start up a game. It's Stella and Dafodil right at the start of the game.

Someone else mentioned it above, it's 30fps on Switch, 60fps on everything else.

Wish I knew before. No cross save I guess

Had a rather unfortunate bug on PC where it didn't retain my save after I had to quite and reload...so I might stick with the Xbox version for now, just in case that's smoother 😅

Conflicted on what to buy it on. Looks a bit rough on Switch, but seems ideal for portable play.

Hadn't heard of this before. The art is fucking beautiful. Watching the trailer in the indie direct I thought it looked like Ghibli + Steven Universe and I was 1000% down for it. I'll probably buy it soon even if I'm not sure how much I can play it lol.

Nope! Played for about 2 hours, pressed 'save and quit' - and nothing. I am playing the windows store version through game pass though....

Okay, because that's odd. Didn't have any issues in regards to the Steam version like that. The only time it didn't save was when I started a new game and quit real quick before getting into the real beginning.

Really like the look of this - looks gorgeous. Just wondering if this is the sort of game you can jump into, do a few quests for half an hour or so at a time?

Tried the Steam demo and absolutely love the presentation and vibe.

The traversal in particular feels incredible. The flow is just so liquid smooth. Reminds me a lot of that old game Outland.

I'm loving the game so far, beautiful visuals, but the writing is rubbing me a bit. Hopefully it improves or I get used to it :)

I'm giving this a whirl on PC game pass, because why not? The visuals are lovely, not sure the gameplay/writing is my cup of tea though, but I'll give it a little more time.

Been playing for around 1 and a half hour now. It's absolutely phenomenal! The presentation is superb with its gorgeous music, great character designs, and just outstanding animation.

It feels incredibly relaxing, yet it's not particularly slow, it has this brisk smooth flow that creates a very unique mood. It does feel very linear right now, while I've been able to do a few detours it's very guided at the moment. No idea if it'll stay that way or if it will open up completely later. If it's strictly linear that's fine, but I'm hoping that I'll feel a bit more free as it progresses.

Following up, I posted the issue on the Discord. Someone else mentioned the following, that it likely could be Game Pass / Windows Store:

Seems to be a common occurrence with Game Pass/Xbox on PC games. The same thing was happening with people playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps, ReCore, and Streets of Rage 4. This is a bizarre Windows 10 problem with cloud saves not syncing properly, so it doesn't know where to find them. To my knowledge, the only real way around it is to play the game offline.

Just saw the trailer, and I definitely was not expecting to get emotional. Buying immediately.

Man I think I might just make the exception and buy this at full price. The trailer looks gorgeous and the whole idea of a game thats not about violence, touch on the topic of death, and being to hug everything really is what i need these days.

Or should i finally sub to pc game pass? I'm not if thats better or worse for devs.

Is this the game where you bring people to the "other side" with a boat? if yes, gotta give props to the idea and the fact that they tackle the in the western world difficult topic of dying and death and wrap it into an visually appealing interactive package.

as someone who appreciates Buddhism, the western world needs to handle dying and death better than it does, so any effort in this direction is appreciated. too little is talked about death in this hemisphere and for many people death is still a topic they never think about or they never want to be confronted with till it happens in their circles.

I didn't know this game existed until today, and now it may end up among my favourite games of the year. Been great playing without really knowing anything.

It's also a testament to the power of Game Pass where it doesn't feel as important to do extensive research beforehand, you can just jump in and try stuff out if it looks interesting.

What else can I give Stella since she's starving and doesn't want popcorn again? I'm not sure I've fully grasped the cooking mechanics -- putting fish in the oven and waiting doesn't seem to do much 🤔

Edit: Oh I see, you have to wait until it dings. I gave her some grilled fish, she's happy.

These are the kind of thoughtful posts I come to this forum for :)

So do we have more impressions of the Switch version?

I'm waiting for these too - watched a YouTube video of the first 30 mins on Switch but looks juddery. Might be compression though. Any HD Rumble?

I've been playing for a couple of hours and I love it so much. It has GOTY potential for me. I find myself smiling with every little new thing they teach me to do and very few games have managed that.

I'm really hoping for some Switch impressions soon. It looks so damn good - $45 AUD is a bit higher than I want to pay for something without some reviews or impressions tho

Dude the cat plays with the ball. Do you guys see it rolling around? And it helps you chop wood. And and and the name of the cat is Daffodil. And and and and and the load screen has a cat in the bottom right
