I think Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing this year. Worst case scenario, early 2020 [likely February].
Here is why:
• When CD Projekt Red held their investor relations call for Q1 2019, they mentioned remitting payments last year to a third party in a remote location to produce physical items for the Cyberpunk 2077 Collector's Edition and even mentioned that this was done early to meet the demand:
• They're hiring for a Release Manager and they have 2 AAA games scheduled to release by 2021, so obviously Cyberpunk 2077 would have to come out by Q1 2020 so they can focus on their other AAA title in development to meet that 2021 deadline
• The numerous leaks and mentions of a 2019 internal date. Territory Studios designed the snappy logo and titles for the game and this was what they put on their website:
the "2019" part was quickly redacted - but the internet never forgets...
Also there was the Turkish Merchant Bilkom, which published The Witcher III: Wild Hunt in Turkey - they posted a Tweet that stated that Cyberpunk 2077 would release in 2019:
• The fact that CD Projekt Red said in the same financial earning statement that this E3 will be "the most important fair in the CD Projekt Group's history.":
• Also of note in the Q1 2019 Consolidated Earnings Report, it was mentioned that CD Projekt Red takes between 2 to 4 years to release a game and this game has been in the works for longer than 4 years - but if you only counted the time from when production "ramped up" after the release of The Witcher III from 2015 to now...voila! That's 4 years:
• Last year at Gamescom, Cyberpunk 2077 producer Richard Borzymowski stated that the team had reached a new milestone - that the game was fully playable from start to finish
• In March 2019, President/CEO of CD Projekt S.A. Adam Kicinski stated that Cyberpunk 2077 is in the "advanced stages of development"
• Alienware training for 2019 Cyberpunk 2077 tie-in gaming laptop:
Lately, I see people getting things wrong about when the development actually started for Cyberpunk 2077. First, it only "ramped up" when The Witcher III released in 2015 - that's not when it began. It had been worked on for around 3 years prior to this. No one [except CDPR] knows the exact details of the team size, or even what was accomplished during the 2012-2015 timeframe; but there was obviously work done on it from 2012 up until 2015, so it's not like they started it from scratch after The Witcher III shipped.
This game is much farther along than most people realize and a late 2019 Holiday release is extremely likely. Worst case scenario, we're looking at the first quarter of 2020 - but if I had to make an educated guess, I would lean towards December of this year.
That would make for a very Merry Christmas indeed.
