It's more the weather in the oceans. If the crew has to abort mid-flight, teams need to be able to get to the capsule.
For efficiency you want to be as close to the equator as you can. You also want to launch over the ocean so you aren't dropping rocket parts on cities.
I know the historical reasons, but not the current ones. Doesn't make sense these days. Our weather just sucks this time of year.
Launches and aborts are easier due to the amount of open land and the surrounding ocean.
And the weather has to be clear for a rescue mission to be performed in a safe way.
Most water on all sides for easy splashdowns in case of emergency.
The way the Earth spins. As a rocket launches, the Earth spins beneath them west, so if something bad happens, it crashes in water and not Texas.

It was looking workable up until about 5-10 minutes before the abort. If they knew for sure it wouldn't happen before, they likely would have done it sooner.
Bummer that they won't be flying today. But honestly, I'm kind of glad lol. I'm super nervous about this launch. Everything looks so incredibly janky. The suits look like they are props from a cheap sci-fi movie. The touchscreen filled capsule fills me with anxiety. And the capsule itself looks kind of funny. Nothing about this looks like it's sturdy or suitable for space travel. If it weren't for the excellent track record of SpaceX I'd be absolutely terrified.
Yeah, the more consistent weather (as in it very rarely snows/freezes) is a huge boon as well.

The weather check that didn't clear in time was "strength of the electrical fields in the atmosphere".
Doesn't it also have something to do with being quite far south and being so close to the equator is has a higher tangential velocity and more northern areas?

If you ever have the opportunity, check out a Mercury capsule and wonder how people willingly entered that thing to get launched on top of a boom boom tube.

I'm not saying the equipment surely must suck at all. Just stating the fact that all this new equipment looks radically different and to me it looks terrifying.
