Well it seems a good price !

It was over $400m for Respawn to compare
$315 million, plus "additional variable cash consideration that is contingent upon achievement of certain performance milestones, relating to the development of future titles, through the end of calendar 2022," that could add up to another $140 million.

Electronic Arts buys Respawn for more than $400 million, new Titanfall in the works

Respawn's Star Wars game is still coming, too.

Actually a pretty good deal in my opinion, they have multiple million copy franchises plus the largest exclusive on their current platform and one of the biggest ip in the world

That really is a steal. Compared to the $350m MS paid for Rare in 2002 for example.

But Insomniac owned little of its own IP. FUSE and Sunset Overdrive aside. So little value there which may be why so cheap.

One of my favourite developers and a great move for both parties IMHO.

Sounds like a nice deal for Sony. Cant wait to see what Insomniac is working on.

Exactly the GIF I thought of!

Also, that feels like a lot of goodwill. 165 out of 229 mil

EDIT: Checked the Rare transaction. Total cost 389 mil, goodwill 281 mil, intangible assets 75. Compared to Insamniac transaction: total 229 mil, goodwill 165 mil, intangible assets 62 mil

But seriously, pretty cheap all things considered. I expected 300m+.

So did Ted Price get a chunk of that cash? I always had the impression that he was one of the best studio-heads in the industry and that people generally loved working for him.

Damn, that's quite the steal for such a large studio. They'll make that money back in less than 5 years. Wonder why the cost was so low? I could've seen it being that prior to Spider-Man, but after? No way.

Sony would've been stupid not to pull the trigger at that price.
