Oh, twitter was filled with fud about that. "Lol, itZ NoT a nExt Gen macHinE! It doesn't even come with the cAblEzzzz!"There was doubt about that...?
Next they'll be concern that the console won't come with an instruction manual.
Thank you for your support! I can do this!
It's about bandwidth, essentially. The cable has to have enough bandwidth to support a 4K/120 signal to be HDMI 2.1I thought 2.1 didn't require a separate cable because HDMI is a "dumb pipe" ? Or am I totally wrong?

Well 3 minutes after this news came out in the other thread, another thread was created about ps5 and quick resume (again) so it seems to be that.
It is . As someone who owns a nice 1440p monitor and is not getting a 4k one anytime soon I'm possibly staring down the barrel of staring at a 1080p image for another console genYou laugh at this but its a valid annoyance for a decent amount of people.
Does your monitor support downsampling? Many 1440p monitors will take a 4K signal and downsample it, which actually looks decent compared to 1080p upscalingIt is . Hahahaha
Will the power consumption of the PS5 exceed 200 Watts? So what's next? We can still fit another concern between now and release.
Because media outlets reported misinformation about this.
Really not sure why this was being argued. The console has 120fps and 4k and 8k. Like Xbox. Of course it was going to feature the appropriate cable.
I'm going off of a translation but yeah, they based their initial article off of the fact that "ultra" was missing from the cable label. So how exactly did gamepro "tested and confirmed" it was a 2.0 cable? Just by reading what was labeled on the cable instead of plugging it into the console? Strange.

Ultra-High-LameNo, that is the official name of HDMI2.1 Cable, https://hdmi.org/spec21sub/ultrahighspeedcable
Hmmmm I think most people can guess the reason for that. There was an entire thread on here debating it, even. (For some reason)
So what's next? We can still fit another concern between now and release.
Apple is selling the new iPhone 12 without a charger but they are doing it for the environment!!There was doubt about that...?
Next they'll be concern that the console won't come with an instruction manual.
When Digital Foundry were unable to directly confirm whether it was HDMI 2.1 or not due to the embargo, this confusion was of Sony's making due to placing a nonsensical embargo on information you should want people to know anyway. Why would this information even be embargoed in the first place? There was doubt about that...?
Next they'll be concern that the console won't come with an instruction manual.
You're not wrong about that last bit lol.ConCERNY™
Seriously, it was common sense but people always assume the worst, specially in these times of wars where even a cable is ammunition.
I hate to have to make you aware of this, so sorry in advance.
People have been concerned about these consoles for months and it has led to brain dead stupid topics.
You have one guess.
wait, wat?Apple is selling the new iPhone 12 without a charger but they are doing it for the environment!!
It's really simple:
If this is the case, it's not actually rated for HDMI 2.1 speeds is it? HDMI 2.0 cables will also work with 2.1 speeds unless you're unlucky with the quality (or you have a very long cable). It's really simple:
HDMI 2.1 cables bear the marking "Ultra High Speed", the one Sony ships with the PS5 bears the marking "High Speed" so by it's own definition it's a 2.0b cable and not rated for the high bandwidth.
It's a bit like Sony putting a USB cable in the box which says "USB2" on it and then telling everyone it's actually a USB3 cable. If it's that spec, why's it branded as the slower spec?
It's not a major issue, but it's a weird one.
The most important issue for November 3rd, 2020 has been resolved
