Isn't it likely you would get found out if you did try to spend it, small amounts whatever but anything large, it's going to appear on a receipt somewhere.

The tax man wants to know. For most places bitcoin is subject to a capital gains tax. Since this account has been dormant since 2015 when bitcoin was cheap, he now owes a crapload of capital gains tax.

I bet everyone's going to have their eye on any activity from whichever wallet now holds that money.

That sounds like my worst nightmare, could you imagine realizing you had millions of dollars that you tossed away
I think there was a story on reddit of someone who lost a sibling to suicide because the sibling did exactly that. Threw away what later became several million in bitcoin.

Lol, not surprised. I spent about a grand buying weed off Silk Road circa 2011-2012. Makes me sick thinking how rich I could be now.
