If you can look at the last four years and you're still like "ehhhh idk I don't like both evil guys not feeling like voting ehhh" then I got zero empathy for that. We're in a state of fucking emergency here. Like get the absolute hell over yourself.
I agree it is a state of emergency, and you know what, I want people around fighting to impress that upon everyone that has a chance of listening. Doing so in every manner that can effectively reach them.

You know what I think we could use a lot less of? People that claim to be allies to that cause but spend all that time berating the people that could be useful allies or the people not giving up reaching out to them. A strategy In not sure you are going to find any masters of persuasion recommending.

You don't have to be on the front lines teaching and advocating, but it really doesn't help when you have someone that is trying to do that and your response is to tell that audience and the speaker they are pieces of shit that didn't get the point fast enough, so essentially fuck you, you're out.

... I mean imagine if that was the strategy Biden was taking to wishy washy moderates? Berating them for not already being on board and having his staff go on to and call them morally failing pieces of shit lol.

People here disagreeing with the premise of the video are worrying to me, because it gives me no confidence that people will be critical at all when Biden is president, and just try to justify all the bad things he'll do (which, he indeed will).

We've seen before that having a (bad) Democratic president in office has negative effects on left activism and enthusiasm. Easier to be energized in opposition to the foaming-at-the-mouth fascism and corruption of Trump than the ghoulish-but-civil neoliberalism of a Biden. The idea that you vote Biden in and then pressure him to do the right thing, contrary to a five decade long record of being a center-right politician, is pretty naïve to me. Your vote is your leverage. But it's hard to stand firm on this in the face of four more years of Trump.

Whole thing sucks tbh.

I enjoyed the video and agree with Cody. I "bit the bullet" and voted Biden this election cycle.

My voting in 2022 will be based on what he does in his first two years.

I will no longer be voting "blue no matter who". Moderate Democrats think they're owed a vote because of the alternative. I'm tired of my vote being held hostage.

This topic has just gone... Jesus Christ. Sometimes I truly wonder how many era people are Rose Twitter.

Nah, Rose Twitter is too right-wing for me.

As I said on the previous page, if the liberals abandon us under a Biden Presidency, then let us use it as an example to prove once and for all that leftists and liberals don't have solidarity. Let us show the failures of neoliberalism once again.

I know you live in a safe blue state like me and you already voted. I've been wrestling with this but I think this is the best course of action for those whose vote actually "matters." Vote Biden and prove he ain't shit. That's all I can suggest at this point.

man wild how people here are so open about their complete disdain for and hatred of leftists and then get surprised when that doesn't make them want to support their candidate

Yup. So fucking tired of mugwumps. Yeah, he's not perfect, but considering how bad Trump is, all this shit is in poor taste. Let's get that fucker out then address Biden. As a black person in America, Trump is literally making it harder for me to live, and emboldening his racist base. Dude can't even denounce literal nazis.

Some of y'all need to get over yourselves. Attitudes like that just encourages people not to vote because everyone sucks.

Sadly that is exactly what will happen. It's a team sport for most of them and as soon as someone with a (D) next to their name is in office they can go back to not pretending to care. After all, they won't be the ones getting murdered by cops or drone strikes. They'll always move the goalposts and kick the can down the road because they don't want to acknowledge their complicity in a racist system.

Sweet thanks, the meaningless "Rose Twitter" jab was the last thing I needed on my Empty Liberal Talking Point bingo card for this topic.

i see the area movement that has been aggressively terrible at any and all forms of organizing until maybe the last 3 years is treating this thread like festivus

the cool thing about this post is it applies to any and all wings of the democratic party and points left

I myself am looking forward to reading about Bernie bros giving Trump a second term for the next four years.

Christ, it's not a team sport. Fucking voting for him isn't enough for you? You're delusional if you think pretending Biden's problems don't exist are gonna convince nonvoters to vote for him at this point. Like I keep saying, folks like you are making me regret it already.

Biden will very likely deserve every bit of pressure and criticism he gets during his presidency. Progressive voices need to be as loud and aggressive as ever during his administration.

Of course, Trump will be far more harmful to many people's lives and he must be dealt with on November 3rd. That's only step 1.

I don't understand why anyone would be enthusiastic about Biden's candidacy. The only reason he's leading in the polls is because of Covid. Take it out of the equation and the race is close. I mean go back a month or two and it was close even with Covid. We've had massive protests calling for revolution in dealing with racism. We also have radical proposals on the table for dealing with climate change and government spending priorities, but somehow Joe Biden (and Kamala Harris) is who we're supposed to believe will lead that charge. Cody's Showdy couldn't be any more apt for how I feel about Biden or this election.

I think you misspoke, the word you want is whatever the exact, complete 180 degree opposite of wild is.

Clearly COVID. Clearly. Look at that totally stable historic trend.

Trump's been at -10 net approval pretty much the last three years, and that's the best predictor of a president's reelection.

The inverse can be just as much true for that statement. It feels like everyone is just in an uneasy alliance until Trump is gone and then we're just going to ripe out each others throats right after.

A better use of time was watching Biden's townhall that happened tonight. He did extremely well throughout and decided to keep taking questions from each person there after it finished. Probably another 30-60 minutes with the 15-20 people that weren't able to ask during the actual townhall. We only know this because ABC showed it in the background as the talking heads reviewed the event itself.

You can think the guy sucks but he sure as hell cares.

I think this is going to be the interesting part of the Biden Presidency; an unprecedented dynamic with a centrist third way President but a vocal and outspoken left. I can definitely see more leftist/liberal fighting in the future. I am curious what emerges from this dynamic.

Almost everything Cody says in this video is completely reasonable, and I'm 100% sure that the people spouting off knee-jerk criticisms didn't bother to watch the video. And that's really frustrating.

I'm currently not sure why the fuck the Lincoln Project is allowed on this forum. Their videos don't provide any value and the last thing we should be doing is giving legitimacy to embarrassed neocons.
Not only is Lincoln Project allowed, but the thread where Some More News broke down why they suck was immediately littered with people defending them and disparaging the left for daring to critique them, many that openly admitted they wouldn't even watch the video.

This thread.... this thread feels very familiar.

It's everywhere. Never Trumpers will be soooooooo popular after the Trump presidency is over, it's going to be insane. We're in for a decade of hurt. Biden perpetuates this feeling too by talking about how amazing and easy it will be to work with the Republicans once Trump is gone.

Bernie was already a fairly large compromise of our beliefs as leftists. To not consider Joe Biden the lesser evil, to believe he is Actually Good, is to compromise our entire worldview, and I'm not going to do that so you can feel better about a dogshit human being in a dogshit country.
Yup! I don't know how many times I have to point out that Bernie WAS the compromise, I'm voting for Biden but I fucking resent the entire party for putting me in this position, and I resent the people who refuse to allow any criticism of Saint Joe because you're helping Trump. Push him to the left, but, no, not like that!

I hope people don't keep brushing aside Biden/Kamala's problems after the election...

Who am I kidding. Even the slightest criticism is going to be met with "the other guys are much worse!" There is never a good time to criticize the Democratic Party.

Alternate take. The democratic party would be WAY left of where it is right now if everyone who is left of center (progressives, liberals, leftists, communists, socialists) always voted for the democratic party.

They fucked up real bad in 2016, the result will always be centrism to try to defeat the fascists by making the tent as big as possible. They own this. They control this. They can start making real votes, but they don't want to.

Hell, maybe if everybody left of center voted Dem and were reliable voters we could eventually fix the constitution. But nah, they'd rather teach everybody a lesson by giving the GOP wins. At least they can say I told you so.

Only reliable voters have a chance on moving the Dems to the left. And creating unneeded losses like in 2016 will torpedo any chance of it. Hell, protest-voting leftists are about to appoint a fascist to the Supreme Court for 30 plus years because *Hillary is establishment*. Lol. Keep digging that hole.

Or, alternatively, the party could actually try making in-roads and concessions to the Left instead of expecting us all to shut up and fall in line while they woo Republicans over.

Lmao also love that we're trotting out the canard that Trump's election is the left's fault. Not Hillary's fault, not a failure of the party or a condemnation of a broken system and wayward attempts at bi-partisanship gone astray. It's the Left's fault. Maybe the Democratic party would be better off learning to campaign rather than tsktsking the left at every opportunity incessantly in the most annoying way possible.

Did you watch the video? A large amount of the video, if not a majority, constantly talks about how unspeakably awful Trump is and at no point does it even attempt to imply that Biden is similar in Trump to badness.

The Left single-handedly gave Trump the presidency but also so weak and ineffectual that it can't influence the Democratic party. I just wish they'd make up their minds about what power (or lack of power) the Left supposedly holds.

We feel like this thread has run its course. Nobody is convincing anybody here, and people are mostly just sore from the attempt. Rather than wait until people lose their tempers and say something they'll regret, we're going to lock the thread.
