This cover from Wizard with the Hulk carrying a giant gun, and an interview with Rob Liefeld

Why the hell does the Hulk need a gun?

I also voted for Azrael because his the one that sticks out the most as something that wouldnt work today.

Gambit & Psylocke are pretty goddamn 90's, but my shout out goes to Shatterstar!

You just made me put in a late pledge to get this game. I'm wary because I was let down by Marvel Champions and its lack of engaging gameplay but one of the stretch bonuses was Captain Britain and I had to have it.

Here's his 90s costume, which is in every way worse than his iconic one. The 90s part is the hair, which is his second worst haircut.

I forgot in the 90s we had either hidden or very tiny feet

Currently second place in the poll is a thief from the streets that fights with a battle staff and kinetic energy powers.

Uhm yeah, overall definitely the Image Comics line up of Spawn, WildCATS, Cyberforce and Gen 13.

However I found the blue electro Superman to be the epitome of 90s edge. I did like him however, since he was featured in Grant Morrison's JLA run.

Does the OP mean a good design or one that is emblematic of the 90s? Cause if it's a good design, I think Spawn holds up well. If it's "this design is emblematic of the 90s" then it's gotta be cable.

It's amazing how many of these covers look like Rob Liefeld drawings but aren't. It's amazing how much of an impact he has in the 90s. And how fucking awful every single one is.

Wtf is happening to his right leg! It's like the artist just completely gave up any attempt at anatomy.

Spawn was my immediate thought before opening the thread so he takes it. I have a soft spot for Cable's dumbass 90's design too though.

I don't know if this is apocryphal but I remember reading something from one of the creators (unsure which one) about how they were basically told by higher ups to come up with like the most edgy shit possible to cash in on 90s trends, and this is what they made.

My older brother used to collect these.

One of the earliest subplots involved Jackie saving the life of a grad student he had previously been extorting for sex (as payment for getting behind on her mafia-backed student loans), and an enemy who was empowered by sexual violence.

With unbiased eyes, Spawn is 90s, edgy, and good. None of the others in the poll pull off all three

Jubliee's design is also fantastic, and since she first appeared in '89, then she counts as 90s imo.

Little disappointed that Spawn is so handily thrashing this poll. I get that Spawn is an incredibly iconic 90s comic hero in a lot of ways, but IMO he's too legitimately cool to represent the level of cornball that I associate with 90s comics. Cable IMO has always personified the aesthetic of so many 90s macho beefshit comic heroes and OP really picked an S-tier art example of this
