What do people think about it? How many folks here have actually played it? It seems to slip under-the-radar in Final Fantasy discussions even more than stuff like Lightning Returns. The DS had a couple of Ivalice Alliance titles that brought back FFXII characters in canonical continuations (although in FFTA's case, it's just Vaan and Penelo) but even among FFXII diehards, I seldom see much chatter about those games. Especially Revenant Wings.

Personally, I like it for what it is! I'm not a big fan of the art style and it isn't what I'd call an especially ambitious game. But the RTS-esque stuff is, oddly, the only RTS I've ever gotten into? Probably just a matter of Final Fantasy flavoring doing its job on me or something, whatever. It's almost definitely my favorite game directed by Motomu Toriyama (as in, 100% Toriyama), though the bar isn't all that high for me in that regard.

I don't know. It's a weird one. As someone who loves Ivalice, I grabbed it on release day and never looked back. But the amount of chatter I've heard about Revenant Wings... well... that would imply there is any.

If they had kept the art style like 12, it would have been much better tbh. Otherwise, it's a really fun game.

At the time it came out it was a fun little game. And I tried to 100% it. But IIRC the last boss is suddenly scaled in difficulty to completion percentage? And I didn't feel like grinding out a couple dozen levels so I never finished it.

I played it and ended it, but I can't recall almost anything of this game save for winged-species, many Summons who are not on the main entry, and somehow a way too big and world changing history yet ignored by most.

I miss the tactic games by Square Enix, Revenant Wings and Tactics Advance 2 were two of my favs in the DS era.

I bought a copy when it released, but I've never played it. It's on my shelf, still sealed.

Only got up to the part where you recruit
Ashe and Basch
but I really enjoyed my time with it.

Vaan and Penelo living their best Sky Pirate lives was a really chill, entertaining experience.

I don't think I've quite figured out what gameplay was. Need to revisit it someday. Still has my copy.

I completed it and thought it was fun. I'm rubbish at these types of games, so it was nice and accessible enough.

I know it existed but never got around to buy it or play it.

But now I need to know, for those who has played it, how much Baltier and Fran is there? That's all I care

I remember liking it. They fixed up what they had from Heroes of Mana (which is generally abysmal on the pathing front...and game balance...and a lot of things) and made something pretty decent out of it. The story fleshes out some characters, good characterization in general, a neat addition to Ivalice.

A really good underrated as hell game. A must play for FF fans.

Not a fan of RTS, so I didn't enjoy it. While I didn't play that far into the story felt quite a bit lighter than what we got with FFXII.

My only knowledge of this game is that one time I told a friend that I was into Final Fantasy and explained the gameplay of most of the franchise (I-IX's ATB system) and the Tactics spin-offs. He then went out and bought Revenant Wings and I immediately had an "oh no...." reaction and he totally understood why.

Not a fan at all, but I hate RTS spin-offs (and especially on the DS).

I enjoyed Blue Dragon Plus. Mostly because it simplified the genre so much that it was something I could get a marginal level of fun out of.

Fun game, but flawed. You had to keep an eye on both screens and due to it being real time and it having lots of units, it became a bit much at times.

Still, one of the better FF spin-offs

I too bought it day one, but never cared enough to finish it. It was nice enough and fun seeing the characters again, but I don't remember being captivated by either the gameplay or story. SRPGs typically aren't my thing either. Still have my copy around.

For some reason, I finished Revenant Wings but dropped XII within the first 5 hours everytime I tried to get into it.

Didn't really enjoy it back then. Playing lite RTS in two small screens with stylus was just not fun for me.

I passed a boxed copy of the game a couple of years ago in favor of a complete Metroid Pinball. Kinda curious about this game honestly, wonder if it's worth hunting for, at least for my DS game collection.

I think a lot of those ds final fantsay just fell under the radar
4 heroes of light was pretty good imo, and the 3 and 4 remakes too.
Revanant wungs is oddly the only one i didnt bother with.

I honestly like 4 Heroes of Light more than either Bravely game. Just a real classic game with a wonderful aesthetic.

I enjoy it, but never beat it. Maybe I'll do that soon.

I wish Square gave the DS spin-offs more love in terms of porting. I understand why that's hard for any developer considering the two screens, but there are so many gems stuck on the DS and 3DS that are bound to get even more obscure as time goes on.

Fun game. I 100% beat it. Story is whatever, not super gripping but a more light hearted romp but the gameplay was honestly pretty fun and bite sized. Lotta game in there. Controlled well. The art was also pretty damn good.

The best DS FF game was Chocobo Tales just for the card game. That was pretty sick.

Also, I really wish SE would remake this and the RTS Mana game into something decent.
