According to Phil Spencer it is their most ambitious game. But who even knows what that means.
What's the possibility that From would just drop a new trailer on their Youtube channel without waiting for the next gaming event next year?
Do they even need that added advantage?
I feel like From's games have grown beyond the need of 10-second teasers to build up more hype.
This game was announced in 2019 correct? And it was just a CG teaser correct? If yes, I would estimate that they probably started work just months before that teaser. Given a 4-5 year development cycle, I wouldn't expect to see anything for at least another year, maybe even 2.
What if the game is not fully optimize yet and the trailer came out like the leak project beast terailer with 10fps? I would rather they fully ready with the game before showing it to be honest.
Remove the first two and you will see that Dark Souls II to Sekiro were released within 5 years of each other. That is four fully featured AAA games.
The only studio with comparable output this gen is Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
I know this is said jokingly but From generally doesn't give a shit about what other developers do and just do their own thing. For better or for worse (like consistent frame pacing on concoles)

What? Mid-2017 would put it at roughly 2.5-3 years, which is pretty standard dev time, and this is apparently a much bigger and ambitious than previous titles plus COVID put them back no doubt. Kind of jumping the gun there lol
Something is happening with this game:
- It might be completely redone for Next Gen.
- It might have serious development and engine problems.
- They maybe announced too soon, and the trailer was only a target Render, no development started (Square Enix style).
- Some Exclusivity deal is being done right now that is keeping the game from being shown until some conference.

I just find it weird that they would have announced it too early. Especially because I don't think there was even a need to announce a game that soon after Sekiro was released.
Or none of the above and covid and the new gen arriving just delayed things

I will take a From Software game each year, thank you, i am getting addicted to them.
They became my GOT TO games when in need of immersion.
Knowing that the most influent game designer of the last decade is working on the most influential setup of the same period is making you too nervous and impatient guys and gals. And me too xD
Why does that matter? This isn't a Dark Souls game and doesn't negate that they've made a whole other game since DS3.
What did y'all expect? From is collaborating with the guy who hasn't been able to release the 6th GoT book since 2011. It'll release eventually, maybe like 2022/2023. Also, CGI trailer was released like 1.5yrs ago.

Seriously, it was very obvious this game was announced way early when all we got was a CG trailer. Its kinda funny when I see people so upset when they don't have a gameplay trailer a year later. This shit takes time, especially when its their first real open world game.

GRRM's contributions to the game were done ages ago. He wrote the backstory/lore of the universe and then handed it off to From Soft. He isn't actively working on the game with them so he wouldn't have anything to do with how long it'd take them to release the game.
With it being From Soft's most ambitious game and open world, it's not exactly a surprise it's probably going to take longer than the gap between their past games.
