Upgraded to a 65" after a decade of 43".

At first it seemed too big, but within two days, and certainly now, it's the a great size for my set up.

65. It was the right size at the time but my next one will definitely be 80+. We have one TV in the house and it's the item we use the most. Not something worth skimping on.

I have the Sony X940E 75" which I was able to grab at a fraction of it's 6K price about 2 years ago.

Sony 65X9000H (different model #s here in Aus) from 2017. Sit 6-8' away depending where on the couch I sit. TV is angled in the corner on a floor standing shelf, so we get good viewing angles on the whole couch.

Got 2-3 more years with it, then will get a new large set, probably same size, and use that as the final piece of the home theatre room I've got planned as a build for the next couple of years.

3 years ago I was playing on a 32 inch Samsung, today I have a 55 inch TCL 6 series. Seems like such a massive upgrade and yet 3 years ago I had some of my greatest gaming experiences with the new Nintendo Switch on that modest little TV.

42" Plasma. It's actually something I'm somewhat worried about for when I inevitably have to upgrade sometime in the future. All of the good TVs seem to be way too big for my room, and I wouldn't want to play games anywhere else.

40", sit about 10 feet or 3 meter away, don't need to compensate.

Except of course for eyesight, even with 20/20 vision fucking tinytext is the bane of my existence.

I use a 65" TCL 6 series, works great with Steam big picture mode and a wireless KBM setup. I usually sit around 7 feet from the screen, but if I'm not playing something very demanding I can play while lying down on the bed as well... a great setup for Animal Crossing!

One of these days, someone (probably me) will actually ask what the viewing angle of your setup is, rather than TV size - since that doesn't mean a whole lot on its own.
A 34" ultra-wide monitor at 2ft is larger than a 130" projector at 12ft, for example - and more immersive due to the aspect ratio.

I dunno, I have both a 50" option and a 110" option. Sitting closer to the 50" to simulate the size of the 110" will still never be the same to me as the real 110". The distance and scale of it all still makes a difference to me. It's why I never liked people suggesting slapping a screen to your face and saying it's as good as a large screen.

I have a 43" 4K for my small living room. I could do with it being bigger given the distance from my couch, but I don't like the look of a blank TV as the centerpiece of my living room, and that's the absolute maximum size that'll fit inside my armoire cabinet thing.

And, yes, I'm too lazy to get a new cabinet. Thing's huge and I'm on the third floor.

It's certainly not the same, because our brain can determine the size of an object using things like the distance we are focusing - even if you sit at the exact distances required for them to match.
But in terms of actual size, it matters a lot. It's generally easier to sit close to a smaller display at a desk than it is to sit close to a bigger TV in a living room situation - especially if you have things like a coffee table forcing you to sit further back.
A lot of people with big displays end up with a smaller image because they're placed in disproportionately larger rooms.
All else being equal, it's certainly preferable for most people to have the larger display even if the image size is the same. But things are usually not equal.

55" C8 OLED. I had already waited YEARS to upgrade and almost bought a C7 in 2017 but waited it out to the new model year. Beautiful TV.......but unfortunately missed out on hdmi 2.1 :( . Will do 1080p 120hz but mainly target a V-Synced 4K 60FPS with my PC.

Consoles and PCs look and play SO nice on OLEDs!
(Sit 5-6 feet away)

I currently have a 40" LCD TV hooked to my PC.

I would love to upgrade to a 48" burn in proof 4k120hz panel but sadly none exists. I hope MiniLED delivers.

Those are some weird numeric splits. I would expect a more dramatic spike if you had a 49-55 section

I have a 55" LGC9, I sit far closer to it than I probably should, at about 3 feet away. Regardless of screen size and resolution, I can't stand sitting far away from the TV, I'm also pretty nearsighted though.

55" Sony X900F and I sit 7-8ft away from it. Want to upgrade to a 65" LG within the next year but we'll see...

26 inches. It's a monitor, but I sit several feet away from it like one would with a TV.

I was using a 32" 720p set but we got a new tv for the living room so the 48" 1080p set is now my gaming tv

My gaming TV is a 43 inch 4k TV in my home office. I do have a 65 inch OLED in the living room but I never game on it as the TV is meant for the entire family to enjoy.

Nothing fancy for me. A 42" LG 42LF5600, 1080p. And then I have maybe a 15" Sharp TV-VCR combo CRT for my older consoles.

Epson 5040UBe projector on a 95" Elite screen. It's about the largest my room can handle without being obnoxious (and drawing the ire of my wife).

I knew I was going to upgrade for next-gen. I was originally going to go with the 85" Sony X900H, but the wife and I decided to splurge and go with the 77" LG CX instead. I sit about 8 feet away. I don't feel the need to get closer to the TV at all. As for eye level, ideally you want the tv tilted so that your eyes are looking straight at the center, but if the viewing angles on your set are good, that's not a huge worry.
Do you find gaming ok from 8ft away and does any media that you watch feel overwhelming at that distance?

Sony X900F 65"

I probably sit about 10ft from it, and it is wall mounted up about 6' off the floor slightly angled so it is the perfect viewing angle from my recliner for watching or gaming.

Love it.

55" 4K Samsung (no HDR).

All of my consoles (with retro consoles going through an OSSC) and my gaming PC are all plugged into it.

65 OLED C9 .... Amazing.

Once I get my own proper house and a more permanent situation I will go 85 or higher.

Just a 43" 1080p TV. I live in a 2LDK apartment, so there isn't enough space for bigger TVs.

I plan to upgrade to 4K next year and the biggest I can imagine for our room is 50".
