...on your gaming TV

I'm rocking a 49 inch TV at the moment, but I'm thinking about upgrading

A few other questions:

- How far back do you sit?
- Do you find that you need to sit closer to the TV when gaming vs when watching TV? If so, why is that?
- What is the ideal eye level for when gaming on a TV? Should the middle of the TV be at your eye level?

Thank you for your time, Era

Edit: A mod edited the thread title, my original stupid title was "So Era, how many inches are you packing..."

65" LGC9 is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I sit maybe 6 feet away. I also wall mounted it higher than normal on an extension mount and tilt it down for when i'm laying back on my recliner.

My penis is 6.5 inches long.

Edit: Ok, title change makes this just seem weird now.

55 LG CX, but wish I would've just done the 65. Not that 55 is small by any means but sometimes I just want that extra scope and scale for big movies, specifically ones that keep IMAX ratios on the home video release.

I'd say I'm about... 8 - 10 feet from the TV but when it's in total darkness, the screen is the only thing I can see. It's super thin and there's no noticeable bezels, so it's like 99.99% screen. It's great. My eyeline is roughly at the middle of the TV.

Have a 65 inch TCL 4 Series I got with gift cards that's pretty good. Could have better HDR but I don't mind. Other than that have a 50 inch TCL in the bedroom, 43 inch set in guest room and 20 inch CRT for retro games

55 inches, LG Oled C9. Glorious TV. I was freakin afraid of burn-in but lost that feeling after a few weeks. Once you go OLED, you never go back.

47" and 52" Sony TV from 2008 and 2009. I really don't feel like getting a new one. Absolutely sufficient for both movies and games IMHO.
32" 2k for my PC.

I knew I was going to upgrade for next-gen. I was originally going to go with the 85" Sony X900H, but the wife and I decided to splurge and go with the 77" LG CX instead. I sit about 8 feet away. I don't feel the need to get closer to the TV at all. As for eye level, ideally you want the tv tilted so that your eyes are looking straight at the center, but if the viewing angles on your set are good, that's not a huge worry.

49. Recently upgraded from 42. It really is the max I'd want for my current setup.

I sit 6-8 feet away on my bed and it seems optimal.

edit: and my TV is ever so slightly lower than where I sit. the TV stand is pretty short. I don't mind and have grown to actually prefer it, I think.

Yeah I want a 65 inch TV next time

I went from 32 to 49 last time, so I feel like that's a similar jump, and I could put the 49 inch Sony in the bedroom

My TV stand is really low though, which is why I also asked the eye level question in the OP

55-inch Vizio 4K M-series, purchased in 2017. I always sit in the same spot on my couch regardless of if I'm watching TV shows/movies or playing games. I'm about 9 feet away from the screen.

60", sit about 10-12 feet away. Sometimes if I am playing a story driven game I like to sit closer for a bit better immersion. If a developer decides to continue to use miniscule font at 4k then I usually have to sit closer. Other than that I keep parked on the comfy couch. Middle of the TV at eye level.

55". Sit about 6-7ft away. And finally upgraded to a 4K tv and got an LG CX. Loving it so far (though do worry about burn-in 😕)

Think mine is a 42 inch TV. I've been wanting to go to at least a fifty, but I'm not made of money, I would have to buy and install a new wall mount, and I'm limited to one room. Might not have a choice though if it craps out, which it's been giving me signs it's close to.

I normally sit across the room on my gaming chair, but that can get uncomfortable. So I'll move closer to be on my bed. Sitting closer also helps during a game, some UI can be really small even with my glasses on. TV makes me have my neck up a bit and I'd like to change that when I have the room.

In my room I have a 32 dumb TV. In the living room we have a 58 4K Smart TV, but I barely play games there.

49" 32:9 monitor for gaming.

55" TV, but that's not where I spend most of my time gaming.

65 inch X900H.
I came from a 55 inch Samsung 1080p TV.
I tend to sit about 6 feet away from the set. Its mainly due to my living room layout plus I wear glasses.

it's a 65" display at my current residence, but when the world isn't experiencing a pandemic and it's more summer-y then I'll be in a different home where we sit somewhat closer and have the 55" version of the same television.

60", which is about as big as I can go in my current apartment without re-organizing the living room. I'd like to upgrade to an 80" in 3-4 years, if our next space can accommodate it.

upgraded from 32 to 42 (or 43, I don't remember) this year. sitting between 3-4 meters away, depending on the chair/couch I pick.

if I sit closer for games it's due to fonts sizes

as long as you don't have to look up, your eye level should be fine

65. Though with how small all these games make their text anymore, I'm starting to think a 75 is reasonable.

I just got a 55" 4K HDR TV. It's not very high end, but it's a huge upgrade from the measly 28" 720p TV from 2013 I was using.

Most of my gaming was done on my 30" 1080p ultrawide monitor prior to this, as that old TV wasn't great.

My eye level is literally at the top of the TV, and it feels a bit too high

If I upgrade to a 65 inch TV the problem will sort itself out though

55" LG CX and the size is perfect for my setup. I was thinking of Sony X900 but decided to go all out on OLED and I like this decision more everyday.

24 inch TV that I got this year, also my first experience gaming in 1080p. Had an 18 inch TV since 2013 and it finally broke.

I have a 65" Sony X950G and I love it. I really wanted to go for a 55" OLED at first, but I'm in a townhouse and the room with the TV is long and narrow.
