He's on the left on all issues I can think of ( I may be missing something). the problem w/ him is his position on Islam and the Middle East, but even then he's not ever going to endorse a republican on foreign policy issues. that's just not realistic. he's much better than the average democrat in this country.

And while Minhaj and Oliver are amazing they are still trying to get laughs and entertain the audience. We deserve far better news than what we are currently getting. Its no wonder that some people are so misinformed and angry when they get all of their news from CNN or Fox.

If they aren't progressive they are doing little for the cause. They probably vote for Senate and the Presidency every 4 years and go on about their lives while other people are out their doing actual advocacy work or trying to push forward societal change. he's just within the spectrum of acceptable, the things he's wrong on won't happen(as much) if he sticks to being a democrat, so i'd rather have people like that on the leftish side than not. i don't think i could put up with much of his nonsense in the real world though.

I feel like I'm living in a different reality when our interpretations of a short relatively straight forward clip can be so different. You either didn't watch it or you don't know what the conservative party's talking points even are. Apparently even binary generalizations have become too complicated and nuanced for some.

I am not saying he is right I am saying he is crap and not to pay attention to him. I stopped watching Maher years ago.

Most of these assholes just want a reaction. What they are most afraid of is being ignored or becoming irrelevant.
