As a reminder, you can download the Japanese version very easily as well.
The Japanese version will probably have exclusive games (NES has JoyMechFight and Adventures of Lolo 2, for example) and it has way better boxarts.

Amateur hour here: which of these is considered the best way to play?
They're all fine. I play in 4:3, but pixel perfect is cool too.
It's probably a joke, there is 3 mode including CRT and pixel perfect.

4:3 is the goto imo. That's what I do. CRT filter's only worth it to tickle your nostalgia bone. 1:1 Pixel Perfect is neat but it doesn't fit right with me. 4:3 was the standard resolution tv back when these consoles were new.

Progress! Excellent. Now we just need to get them to allow us to get rid of the stupid gradient and user picture on the side and just give us the nice easy black bars. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult, but Nintendo.
The CRT filter is bad, and pixel-perfect is perfectly sharp. These games look so good on the screen.

Still not thrilled about the icon in the top left corner, but we're making progress.
Most games back then were designed/intended to be played on 4:3 screens.

I had this issue. Then I went in to the screen that showed my membership info, came back out and it was available for download
Weird, I tried to download it and it told me I wasn't a member. I then went to play Tetris Invictus to see if that was true and it worked just fine. I'm super confused.
Hmm, I'll get to the rest of the classics after I dive deeper into this inscrutable Puyo Puyo nonsense.
