To be fair as much as I don't want Mementoes it's a fairly easy stage to guess and DQ is one of the few really big classic franchises still not in Smash.

So even if those two are true it doesn't mean the leaks are real.

Now if Erdrich has those alts on the other hand.

As much as I'd like to pull the Sakurai hates Xenoblade meme just due to how dour the Xenoblade representation is in Ultimate it does genuinely seem like circumstance for why the series doesn't have much outside of Xenoblade 1 stuff that was in Smash 4 and Spirits. Even then he made 2 Mii costumes for XC2 and he actually apologized for Rex not making it in.

Maybe if I was more of an X fan I would be more willing to peddle that he hates Xenoblade X but again circumstances

prepare for joker. Im like 100% confident this will be the mementos stage theme. Since its mementos, it literally won't make sense if its not this. I mean, out of a 100 hour playthrough, about 50-70 hours is spent in mementos hearing the song during battle. at least during my first playthrough.

in all honestly i wanted the casino to be the level. However, mementos actually makes sense from a gameplay perspective.

Atlus' continued support of Nintendo platforms over the years is probably a huge factor.

Also they released a game on the Virtual Boy. If that isn't a sign of an intimate relationship, I don't know what is.

P5R might just be for PS4, since they announced it with a PS logo. But we'll indeed have more infos on that next month.

I suppose so, but I won't be surprised if the major japanese game companies all have deep ties with each other. Plus financial incentives and benefits are probably bigger factors than a single cameo on smash.
It's just intriguing to speculate on whether Nintendo chooses to prioritize certain characters from upcoming games (and on what basis) or decide to go for stuff that moves sales for both dlc and game software?

These are the kind of things to talk about for the next 3 dlc characters.

"Get out of here with this?". Nah, resident evil is easily bigger globally, and was a defining series for an entire genre too. Plus saying "especially in Japan" about dragon quest is pretty odd, because it's a (relatively) niche series outside of Japan. Dragon quest 11 is at 4m+ sales, but a minimum of 80% of those were in Japan last we heard.

Heck, it's not even the biggest unrepresented series from square, which would be kingdom hearts (recall that just for launch, they shipped more copies of 3 than of DQ11 ltd), but that comes with its own problems with Disney licensing.

Dragon quest getting a character definitely makes sense from the perspective of thinking about Japan, but it's going to be a relatively wet fart of an announcement for everywhere else.

Guess Mementos really is the least "offensive" stage for Joker, outside of the Velvet Room maybe. Casino affecting the age rating like an user in here said is a good idea why that one is out. Same goes for Kamoshida's palace. But those two are also the only palaces which are early enough in the game to not be considered spoilers for P5. ^^

Maybe the interior stuff of P5's Velvet Room is the reason why that wasn't chosen? You know ... the execution things used for the various actions you can perform with the Personas ...

At this point, there's no such thing as Smash aesthetics, Steve fits as much as Bayonetta, Pac-Man or Mr. Game & Watch. The art staff in Smash is amazing at making everything look cohesive.

I think Doom Slayer, Steve and Hayabusa make a lot of sense, much more than Joker in fact. They're all from games that are very important to video game history (following that criteria, I honestly I can't think of a better western character than Doom Slayer), they're all from games that had some importance on Nintendo hardware (Steve not so much but anyway) and they're all from companies that Nintendo has good relations with.

I know the rumor doesn't hold much water but, they would be good picks IMO.
I would really like to see Ryu Hayabusa being re-imagined, based on his NES version like was done with Mega Man and Simon though, but I don't think Koei Tecmo would allow that.

Leak being real or fake, it would make a lot of sense to do m/f Erdrick. Sakurai has shown he enjoys doing that to please people who want more playable female characters. Also I believe DQ3 was the first (or at least the first significant jrpg) game to let you choose your gender so it has historical significance as a pick.
