I wonder whose idea was it to use Decima as a marketing point.
Even if it was, Demon's Souls was a cult classic that WOULD attract a lot of response if a remaster/remake was announced by merit of the fact that Souls is better known now.
"The Lost Souls Game" pretty much sells itself.
That could be way people are anticipating though. With how popular the series has become people want to go back and play the first in the series that is locked to a last gen console.

Nothing wrong with it, I just think it's an interesting move. ND and SSM have impressive engines too, but they don't even have names. I'm willing to bet that GG had no plans to publicly name their engine till Kojima chose it.

Pretty much the opposite. The poster Shinobi was responding to was saying that a game that millions are looking forward to couldn't be Demon's Souls since it wasn't that big of a hit. Shinobi is implying that with the growth of Souls and From in general since then that the interest in a remake wouldn't just be limited to the audience from the original release.
Do you guys think the ship has sailed on a Days Gone sales update for now? I mean it seems like the game did really well, but I guess they don't want to put out PR when it didn't do as well as Spider-Man et al.

Yup. Some people unfortunately take this stuff way too seriously to the point they feel they have personal grudges against certain members. I've noticed this a lot on the gaming side especially. Its hard to talk about a lot of things simply because the threads turn into straight up negativity. And people here are good at chasing people away becuase they feel someone being critical of this place means some sort of personal attack.
There's a reason LOTS of industry folks don't post here.
Maybe they are just waiting for an impressive number like 3 million 5 million...
