Where X marks the spot.
Ok, and her response sucked but it certainly doesn't warrant calls for her resignation. It's like people immediately forgot about her long record of progressive legislation just because she was curt to a bunch of kids.

It's like some people haven't forgotten about how terrible she actually is all the way back to her being the Mayor of San Fran while courting southern KKK supporters.

Considering she didn't even get her party's nomination last year, I think the calls for her resignation from California constituents are concerned about more than this. I think some California democrats might want new leadership and this is just one of many long-stewing reasons why.

lol yes a progressive pro police/law and order candidate who bashes unions, rejects legislation for gay benefits, sends police after gay bathhouses, supports a terrible war, and confederate flag apologist! What a great progressive!

They forgot about it because it doesn't exist.

Y'all continue to attack Feinstein which only proves my point. Continue to eat yourselves alive. See how that works out for you.

I think you have a misguided view on who you're talking to, their desires for the leadership of the "left" , their motivations, and the fucks given about your voting record.
Did you vote for her for her record? If so then you've got problems.

Just think about how little it would cost Feinstein to endorse the GND. She won't be up for reelection for another 6 years, until she is fucking 91. She has no need to raise money and nobody pays much attention to what she does because she's not in leadership and not running for President. Yet she still cant do the right thing.

And yet there are still apologists for her because they have to defend the (D) at all costs fucking lmao i'll see y'all in the lost City of Atlanta.

It breaks my heart to see those innocent children thinking military cuts might be the way to convince Feinstein to think the green new deal could be funded. I suppose they have enough to worry than to add to their political education the atrocities Feinstein aggressively supported in the face of her party during the Iraq war.

We are not required to put up with her fucking bullshit just because she has a D next to her name.

Toeing the party line simply because it is the party line is how you get shit ass politicians like Dianne fucking Feinstein and I'm tired of it. Progressives have a right to better representation and an obligation to demand it. This is California were talking about, if she didn't win the election it would just be another Democrat. So why not insist on one who actually shares progressive values

powerful women gotta be dragged down at all costs though
Oh I guess 'tHe rUsSiAnS' must be colluding to take down this powerful white woman again.
I bet they also made up her voting record to make her look like a racist, homophobic, anti-union piece of shit.
Feinstein is and has always been a ghoul. Power hungry, rich, completely out of touch and don't give a fuck.
Has her history with the Confederate flag been posted in the forms of the comedic stylings of The Dollop yet?

I suggest that everyone give this a listen.

Is Feinstein the problem? No, everyone else is misogynistic.

No wonder Dems have a problem getting the youth vote. 'Progressive' my ass. This country is fucked and the people are delusional. Guess I better pick out a nice place in the Midwest.

Feinstein started out as a centrist and moved further left. Now the rest of the country is moving left and she's ending up as a centrist again. She's going to get criticized by people who want her to be further to the left, like, for example, the entire California Democratic Party, who refused to endorse her last time around.

That should be taken seriously! The "crazy leftists" aren't the one saying Feinstein should consider retiring. The party establishment is saying the same thing. What if you're the one creating dissent by bucking the party line and needlessly picking fights about your unpopular faves?

I'm not all that familiar with Feinstein's record but not all (D)s are created equal. Some are cool like Lieu. Some are lame like Manchin.

Some live in safe seats and can be replaced by more progressive (D)s. Feinstein's one of them apparently.

This video is awful.

I immediately tune out when both parties are just trying to speak over each other.

Some would just call that...pragmatism.

Anyways, this isn't simply another policy debate about $15 minimum wage or even healthcare nor even our fragile basically nonexistent social safety net, though they all ofc play big parts in stemming the tide of what's to come (at least for USA citizens, sorry Middle East, North Africa, and countless islanders).

This is about an ongoing and growing planet extinction event that's going to impact those under the age of 50 the most. Internships are not worth shit in the world these kids are inheriting. Lame ass incremental "I hear you and I'm thinking about it far far far away from the plebs on the street" is no longer going to cut it. Romneyesque actions that amount to little more than "we'll handle it behind closed doors so shut the hell up and wait" should be called the hell out.

These kids aren't just automatons engorging on their parents' wills, nor are the kids abroad walking out of schools over this same existential threat. They are self-aware victims of our greed, our excess, and our unwillingness to talk matter of factly about why we're in this situation in the first place (corporations and old money to speak of a few), much less how to actually manage what's coming next that's beneficial to all, not just the top 1% in the richest nations, as we've been doing the last few decades.

And there are some that do real damage to peoples lives through policy because they only want to lord over people and relive southern dreams.

The backlash against Feinstein was pretty gross, and yet another example of responses to social media that seek only narratives that confirm one's biases rather than actually caring much about the truth.

Sure, like that.

I'm not from Cali so I couldn't say for sure. There's just this general rush to defend anyone with a (D) because people think that being critical of a (D) means they want an (R), when in reality what they want is a clearer (D) and not a (D) that's kind of (R) shaped.

People should remember that the last two senatorial elections in California have both featured two Democrats competing for the seat.

Feinstein's seat is one of the top five safest Senate seats in the country. It would take a calamity to lose it to a Republican. If I were an establishment Dem I would genuinely be more concerned about losing it to the Greens.

Incrementalists failed to get the tiniest tax carbon bill in the last 30 years of knowing this as an issue. They missed their chance. The pragmatist choice now is to be radical about this, because that's all we have the time for.

She's done anyway. People made a bad choice because of a familiar name. It doesn't matter outside of pressuring her to do the right thing. For once.

The actual teenager in the video seemed perfectly capable of speaking her mind and having read the actual bullets points (at least) of the green new deal. The much younger children though were parroting/repeating things. My partner has been a teacher for 10 years and and had the same read. I just stated my opinion and yes I was an adolescent at some point.

Are the kids wrong? When does it turn from "parrotting" into their actual opinion? What age specifically?

This video is literal propaganda. A James O'Keefe style selective editing hit job that removes all context to create a narrative.

And even when the full 15 minute video came out, you still have people unable to admit they were tricked.

and they get mad that you're not treating their views with respect at the same time as they tell this woman to croak, call her heartless, say she should lose her job and say she doesn't give a shit because she's an old hag or something

My dude, come on. A child has no fucking understanding of how the real world works and the logistics of getting some of these proposals done. They're not wrong to want good things and a brighter future, but if you're going to come in and try to tell a woman who's been in government for decades how to do her job by interrupting her and parroting what you've heard, expect curtness in condescension in response.

Feinstein isn't without her faults but the idea that her attitude or response to these kids was so outrageous is baffling to me.
