His original design is classic but aged same as the early Mario depictions. His modern design is still too rooted in the era in which they tried to evoke an "Extreme, Teen, Anime" vibe like Ultimate Spider-man for instance. It got better after Unleashed and it's the best design yet but I really felt the opportunity with Sonic Boom to actually create a new iconic look, whether that would be like Paper Mario or the Cartoon Network version of Teen Titans, but they missed because they had conservative people in the management at Sonic Team that said "Oh no, it doesn't look like the current designs at all, this is bad!"

Well, they probably should have made a good game first. It is a complete mess of a title with horrific AI issues.
Sonic Generations is BC and X enhanced to 4K on Xbox One, so at least there's that.
After Sonic Boom, no thanks. I'll stick with modern Sonic.

It's funny, I always thought the character designer for that; Derrick J. Wyatt would be a great fit for Sonic. Looked at his old ask.fm and it turns out he loathes Sonic.

Yeah. I particularly like what they have going on with both designs at the moment, but if they are going to redesign the cast, SOA needs to take the lead and all the branches of SEGA need to be on board with it.

I've played those games. And no, they're not perfectly fine games, they're absolutely forgettable, devoid of any kind of challenge or good level design. They're endless series of loops and grind rails, the McDonald's of sonic games.
Eggman will be long gone before the arc ends that' how.

This is the ideal Sonic body.
After seeing this fan creation (and others like it), the current 3D Sonic model looks so lame
Really hope they revamp it if they do go the Generations/Forces route again (even if I'd rather they didn't)

Not enough, I hope one of them actually says " Yeah because he's a dictator and he keeps doing the same thing " . This whole arc has been weird for me because this story does not work because eggman being a robo fascist brings a different context than say I dunno, silver predicting some rando will end the world in the future and the heroes arguing over what to do. With eggman he's a murderous dictator and even with missing memories that's really easy to justify him being dead. Sonic tries to compare him to shadow, but shadow in SA2 was effectively brainwashed for most of that game. Abused by his creator(s) , I hope shadow calls him out for that.To be fair pretty much everyone is calling Sonic out on this.
But it is nice to see they have started to . The best part was Sonic was like

And eggman was like " Maybe? Eh no I don't wanna " and sonic is just baffled at how someone could just be that mean despite the guy having been that mean for all the time he's known him.
I found that pretty cool honestly. Even as he recalled his time as Mr.Tinker it was nice to see Sonic try to convince him. But Sonic has dealt with Eggman for I assume most of his life(?). The dude will never change unless brainwashed or given amnesia. But storywise, Eggman will always have to live.

It was just funny. The only time eggman helps is when it saves his own ass. Its an interesting perspective for sonic for sonic to think that eggman was doing it because of some inherent goodness. Then have that broken down and destroyed infront of him. I think that a lot of the forced drama zombieifcations have long since got old . But that, that was some good shit

If there's no Mania 2 I don't care. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, Ray, Amy... Hell, bring Classic Blaze and divorce her from Modern Sonic since all they do with her is make her Silver's sidekick.
Worst case scenario: Sonic Team tries to make their own Classic Sonic game and it still plays like Sonic Rush/Generations/Forces.
