When you stack the court with strict Constitutionalists turns out they might actually believe it what it says

I disagree with people saying the ruling throws Trump a bone. The clause that Congress can't do this without criminal or legislative reasons, prevents the GOP from just going on witch-hunt when the next President comes in. This is a good thing IMO.

So if it's sent back down to the lower courts, for whatever purpose that serves, can it be bounced back to the supreme court again?

I'm very into politics and even I don't know WTF he's talking about with Obama spying on his campaign when he wasn't even fucking running. I'm assuming more make believe alternative facts.

Can someone tell me realistic next moves Trump lawyers will take? The district courts already ruled against their favor. If Trump lawyers file a new case, how long will that take? I dont see the district court changing its decision in light of Supreme Court ruling. And what happens after they lose district court, again?

Trump's meltdown makes it all worthwhile. Kav and Gorsuch's saving throw won't matter for the congressional case as the district court was quite clear in their ruling, and the Supreme Court unanimously rejected Rao's contention of presidential immunity from subpoena. So the president's lawyers really have to come up with a miracle to stop it at this point.

Getting sent back to lower courts isn't surprising or even necessary an issue. Essentially, SCOTUS was asked to rule on a particular point, but they're too busy to litigate all the finer points of the case.

I was just referencing the Congressional situation with the do-over

He's fucked with the state criminal investigation
The one case he didn't want to lose was the one regarding Criminal Prosecution. This is going to be horrific if SDNY proves he paid a pornstar AND opens up a public investigation just weeks before the election.

The NYT The Daily Podcast nailed the prediction months ago, complete with the likelihood of returning instructions to lower course.

in terms of precedent this is a really good decision. The only loss here is that there likely won't be some dramatic release right before the election.

The House impeachment was valid. The majority opinion (Roberts joining Sotomayor, Breyer, Kagan, Ginsburg) outlines this well. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh agree, but are concerned about "possible separation of powers issues."

The text is absolute. Thomas and Alito simply think it's a political witch hunt.

This isn't the big deal. Even if the Tax Returns were released pubicly, 99.9 percent of people would have no idea what they mean. The real case Trump and his administration were worried about is the one he just lost.

SDNY is going to absolutely destroy him and the New York government will now have access to everything.

Trump must be majorly fucked if he's ranting this badly.

He must be hiding some serious financial shit.

Can't wait to see the receipts!

Ultimately, the taxes won't likely be turned over before the election, but Biden can continue to loudly demand that Trump turn them over as it's politically unpopular for Trump to hide them.

Playing up "What's he hiding?" would be a good political strategy.

I don't see how news organizations and posters here are seeing this as good news for Trump. Especially since he's going fucking ballistic over it.

Hey, remember when Bunker Bitch was going to release his taxes as soon as the "super complicated because he's soooooo rich" audit was completed by the IRS?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

So was there a ruling? Or was it punted?

I understand we aren't getting the taxes now.. but we are getting them right?

People are upset that the taxes aren't going to be released before the Election. But what they fail to understand is that this now opens a route to criminal prosecution.
exactly, if you need his taxes, you not going to win anyway. Win the election and let state DAs handle trump for now and forever

New reason to vote this d-bag out of office: So he can immediately be sent to a concrete box for the rest of his sorry life. I cannot wait to see the celebrations the day he is walking into court in cuffs. Still too late....but damn will it feel good.

NY AG can get Trump's tax, loan, debt etc. records now

Congress having access to them wasn't ruled on and was sent back to lower courts

Records most likely will never be made public, I guess.

There were multiple cases. In the NY case, yes, prosecutors can demand his taxes and he must comply.

For Congress, they did punt the ruling essentially and it will take more litigation to work through.

Neither case involved anything with the public getting access.

Keep in mind, this is bad news if he IS elected too. If he were to win, this could explode in his face right at the start of his second term. He's basically staring down the barrel of hell either way it goes.

I can't imagine Trump ever being convicted of anything, even if he's prosecuted.

All it takes is one MAGA Moron out of twelve.

haha, yes! hope he and his fucking stupid family get thoroughly embarrassed. the whole world will see they are not a billionaire family, they are frauds.

and of course it very well might finally be proven without any doubt that the big man himself is a goddamn criminal. there's NO WAY those tax records are all squeky clean, no way. everything Michael Cohen said in his testimony about Trump over-valuing and under-valuing his assets when needed (to cheat) is probably true. and more.

i hope what a young Ivanka once said about them actually being poorer than a beggar because of all their debt is also true.
