It means cells synapsed, which is to be expected. Organoids have been criticized because it's just a mess of cells bearing little resemblance to functional centers. Just because they synapse, doesn't mean it's recapicitualting what happens in the brain, much much less conciousness. People overestimate where we are in terms of science due to clickbait like this.
