From what I understand from reading the article is that SNK Is being bought by a Saudi company called EGDC.

However, the purchase was 100% funded by the Saudi Crown Prince. He is the largest shareholder of EGDC.

thanks !

Oil money swallows SNK

On the 26th, SNK signed a stock transfer agreement with Saudi Arabian game company'Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC)', which entails a change of the largest shareholder. Through this, SNK shares purchased by EGDC amounted to 6,06,579,98, and the transfer price alone amounted to 207.3 billion, 4572 million won. The related transfer agreement will also include 94,7781 shares of China's Perfect World, the current second largest shareholder.

owner info

Bought by a Saudi Company -- no problem
When that company is 100% owned by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that's what people are pissed about so please hold your disdain for those who truly deserve it. Highlights include:
  • According to human rights groups, arrests of human rights activists have risen under Mohammed bin Salman
  • In 2017 it was reported that Saudi Arabia provided weapons to Syrian opposition groups, fighting against Bashar al-Assad's regime. Conflict Armament Research (CAR) reported that these weapons frequently ended up in the hands of the Islamic State members
  • In August 2016, Donald Trump Jr. had a meeting with an envoy representing Mohammed bin Salman who offered help to the Trump presidential campaign. The meeting included Joel Zamel, an Israeli specialist in social media manipulation.
  • n November 2017, Mohammed bin Salman forced the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri to resign when he visited Saudi Arabia
  • In February 2019, Mohammed bin Salman defended China's Xinjiang re-education camps for Muslims, saying "China has the right to carry out anti-terrorism and de-extremisation work for its national security."
  • It was reported on 22 January 2020 that a multimedia message sent from the WhatsApp account that allegedly belonged to Mohammed bin Salman resulted in the hacking of Jeff Bezos' cellphone.
and of course The assassination of Jamal Khashoggi

It's ok to call a piece of shit a piece of shit and though people on this board routinely shout "fuck Konami" at least they were not in bed with actual murderers like SNK are now.

This is so weirdly worded that I have no idea what it means. Oh I'm also sleep deprived which probably helps

Wow it was a matter of time that a Saudi Prince Gamer would invest in a gaming company. They could outbid MS on any gaming company if they wanted too. Saudi's have to diversify there portfolios as oil tends to be too chaotic in pricing.

Poor SNK, they have so much properties, no real company is interested in them? Why do they always end up bought by Chinese companies that uses them more for mobile game or now a Saudi one...

Haven't Saudi royalty been seen spending huge amounts on Steam? I don't feel like this is too surprising, just weird that it's SNK.

I didn't read the full title before clicking on here and was just ready to read some angry fanboys upset about a platform holder acquiring them, but now, what in the actual fuck?

Honest question: how is this any worse than, let's say, being acquired by Tencent?

Edit: oh shit, right, the murders. I forgot about that. Yeah never mind.

I assume this "Saudi Crown Prince" is not a good person?

Jamal Khasshogi was a journalist who was murdered and then dismembered with a bone saw (hopefully he was already dead by then...) inside a Saudi consulate most evidence pointing to it being on royal order, so yeah, not good people.
