THQ Nordic confirms it won't release a major AAA game this fiscal year.

"Today The Embracer Group inadvertently confirmed delays for two of its biggest upcoming games. In the latest financial report, company CEO Lars Wingefors says plans have changed no major AAA game is coming the current year."

"Looking into the next financial year ending March 31, 2022, we expect continued organic growth driven by further increase in the value of completed games including the first AAA games releases since Metro Exodus."

Volition has announced Saints Row V is in development, and Deep Silver is still working on Dead Island 2 with the Homefront developer Dambuster Studios helming the project. Embracer is currently doubling-down on development and expects to see dev costs and expenses double in the next fiscal year."

Yeah it was confirmed late last year. I was expecting Saints Row to come out next year so it's alright for me.

Maybe it's for the best though? Agents of Mayhem aka the last game from Volition felt like it was rushed and could use some additional time for development.

Dead Island 2 is a peculiar case as it switched between so many studios that I'm not sure if its a same project that was originally announced. It may be something completely new by now.

I still find it funny that Deep Silver didn't wanted to have Dying Light as Dead Island 2 and thought they could do something better by themselves. Oh, the irony.

I really don't know. AAA generally refers to a game with a high budget. Is a Saints Row game getting the same amount of funding as Metro Exodus?

Also, none of the following titles are AAA since they're all due out before March 31, 2021 --- Biomutant, Chorus, Deep Rock Galactic, Destroy all Humans!, Iron Harvest, MotoGP 20, Ride 4, Snowrunner, Wasteland 3, and WWE2K Battlegrounds --- but these seem more comparable to the Saints Row series to me than Metro Exodus.

But again, I have no idea how much money they put into Saints Row. I just never thought of it as AAA.

Like I said yesterday, I expected the game to come out next year anyway, so this delay means nothing.

Instead of coming out in March to meet the end of the fiscal year, Saints Row will instead come out in the summer, more than likely.

It started out with Techland, but they had disagreements with Deep Silver, so Yager began to develop it. It was then taken away from them and given to Sumo Digital. Then it was taken away from them and given to Dambuster. All of the footage that exists of the game is from Yager's version.

It was apparently very similar to a first game, but with more open-ended structure. It had a less emphasis on story, bigger focus on combat and co-op.
