Welp, someone had to make the thread. The owner is in some sort of legal threat and has to take it all down, I suggest downloading stuff you hold dear.

Truly this is the modern equivalent to the burning of burning of the library of Alexandria.

I wondered when this would happen, given how easily one can pirate doujinshi and copyrighted original work from either site's database with minimal effort. My question is, where's the legal threat coming from?

Best thing about E-Hentai: full collections of classic Japanese PC games' in-game artwork ("CGs"), both for the porny stuff and the SFW titles. It's gonna take extra work to find those images now unless there's mirrors/backups publicly available elsewhere.

I mean my theory is that Fakku is involved with getting this shut down tbh.
Sounds more likely than the Japanese government doing something good for once by shutting down these dens of crypto-pedophilia, or at least forcing Exhentai to permanently remove lolicon/shotacon galleries and delete that data. Fakku leveraging their official access to certain doujinshi works, and the creators themselves, still requires a large monetary threat via legal action, so I'm not ruling out other possibilities.

They mocked me for downloading everything I liked and building an archive. Who's laughing now?
Anyways, here's hoping a replacement arises.

I never used it personally, I switched to mod edit: we don't name piracy sites because it was solely doujinshi and it also has better filters/filters by popularity.

Wat. What the fuck led to this?

Sadpanda is basically the go to place for non-H fanworks, hopefully people take the time to back it up instead of just focusing on the useless porn which many others will likely have backed up already, otherwise alot of older resources you literally cannot find elsewhere are going to be permanently lost.

That would be pretty hard to pull off in the USA, and Japanese laws are even more lax.

So ERA is just okay with members making threads lamenting piracy sites going down and encouraging people to download and save pirated material before it goes down? Really?

Exactly. Laws in certain European countries + the EU are more permissive of this kind of takedown, but certainly not in the U.S. or Japan. Individual artists, as well as doujinshi circles and distributors, have found workarounds to protect their IPs and latest releases as much as possible...Fakku being a major player for English audiences.

Japan doesn't care about that, Rurouni Kenshin author got off with a slap on the wrist for possessing actual physical media of what you're talking about, meanwhile Pierre Taki is blacklisted from the industry and cops are begging for people to stop liking his social media posts over getting caught doing cocaine.

That's some catch, that catch-22

We don't name places that offer pirated materials and we don't make threads on them.

And we absolutely do not talk about pirating stuff
