The work they've done for PlayStation is incredible considering covid.

Given yesterday's Direct, Nintendo might want to look into hiring these guys to bolster their first party efforts...

Will watch this when I get home from work.

What a great game this was. I just finished it last night. The first couple of worlds could have used a little more difficulty and creativity, but man, by world three, this is a great game that gets better the further in you get.

I hope the game is successful enough for them to get to do another.

Sumo did an amazing job with sack boy. To deliver such a fun and polished product under these circumstances and on time is absolutely fantastic.
I hope they get a chance to do a sequel.

Yay! A wholesome video quickly turned into a console war thread! >:D

....

>_>

...Regardless, Sackboy: A Big Adventure was my second favorite game last year. So, so good. Thanks for sharing this vid. It's awesome how good this game came out all things considered. Great stuff!

I have both a ps5 and a switch so don't want to throw shade in either direction, but seeing what are essentially a bunch of ports on the nintendo list did make me laugh.

Man you guys will use every opportunity for a pissing match. This Sony v. Nintendo fans going at each other is really getting old.
ERA needs to create a safe space without that kind of fuckery in every thread.

PS. Thats a really dope video haha.

This really gives a lot of perspective to the challenges they faced, and explains things like why online multiplayer wasn't there at launch. They really did a great job all things considered.

Can you platform warring morons just give it a rest?
For real, let's not turn this topic into another trash fire.

You legit listed a bunch of remasters and some non-Nintendo developed games and compared it to the incredible output at Sony? Lmao

edit: oh and you conveniently left off other great Sony games too.

Also, this video is great and it's cool to see some behind the scenes during this insane time we're living in.

Has the level of discourse here really devolved to list wars? Come on. Tired of seeing it everywhere.

Really impressive work given all the craziness that made a lot of that collaborative work more difficult last year. The game is wonderful, and they did an awesome job. It's really cool to see a video going into this too!

Great vid, interested to see if Sony contract Sumo to do more work for them on LBP or something else to scratch that platformer itch.

As someone that mainly plays games on Playstation, I totally agree.

Nintendos favour back could be learning Sony how to market their more niched titles so they don't end up being dissapointments saleswise even though they're great (ie Gravity Rush, ie Dreams, ie Sackboy, ie Puppeteer, ie Playstation All Stars, ie Destruction All-Stars) ((also realize they aren't faiulers pe-se but you get my point))

How did this thread turn so shitty so quickly?

This is a great video, and highlights a lot of the high-levels challenges every dev team face, no matter the project. Building games at any scale remotely is just a monstrous task.

Quite timely for me since I started co-op on Sackboy a few days ago. I wonder if they'll work on any more Sackboy projects. They worked with Sony on LBP3 at the beginning of last gen, so there's some kind of endearment they have to the character.

Not very slick lol.

Development cycle for remasters: press the "remaster" button, go gold.

Development cycle for "ports" with added new hours-long content: (spoken aloud to dev unit) "Computer: port program. New content override, authorization 'ResetEra Alpha' ", go gold.

Development cycle for smaller games: declare it's actually DLC and not a whole game, snap fingers, go gold.

Ugh. As if it is this easy to work separated and from home, or on any project really.

That was a great video. It's a fun game with a great presentaion and soundtrack, go play it and be happy for a change.
