I reckon a number of Tory's including Boris are swimming in Moscow money and owe more than a few favours. If anything comes out now they can easily just claim it's Russia making shit up and point to their response in the war. It's like joining in to kick the bully once he's been knocked down in case people remember that you once lived large on the bully's protection racket.

It's still the biggest landing ship from the 3 and it's not like it can be easily replaceable even if it's old. In the end these are all 3 active ships of the Russian navy and one is destroyed and 2 other impacted and that's another disruption to the Russian army supply delivery.
Indeed.

What's funny, seems like Ukrainians got intel from Russian state TV :)

Putting new conscripts into Ukraine will be a blood bath. Just throwing bodies at that point. At some point the home front is going to raise questions about those conscripts losses...
The second they utter the world "mobilization", there will be a lot of questions. And they know it, which is why they're trying to take existing, but mauled units, and retrofit them with reservists from the bordering regions on the sly.

April 1st is when next conscription call-up cycle starts; so they're on the clock to show a "decisive victory" before then.

And after today, I think we can scratch "taking Odessa by landing" off the list.

Hey, we captured a few of those... like 3 weeks ago!

How convenient that those missiles are intact, :o

Why are alt-right and right wing americans pro-russia!? Like...what have they done to themselves?
In general they're not. I think ITT there is a tendency to think that in huge numbers they are pro-Russia but that's an outlier fringe for both political parties (although certainly worse on the right). The vast majority of Americans (over 90%) are pro-Ukraine.

Have there been any updates on negotiations? A week ago or so there were at least some signs of progress.

To quote Arestovych: "the Russian delegation is progressively getting rid of their illusions and becoming more constructive"

They are doing online conferences every day, but it would the Russians are still waiting for a military breakthrough to gain some perceived leverage.

Western leaders keep interceding with Putler for a ceasefire while negotiations are ongoing; he keeps refusing .

There is a pew poll from last week showing broad bipartisan support. I think the mainstream left has PTSD over Trump which is understandable.

Here is another summary of polling data showing broaad support for Ukraine

What We Know About American Public Opinion and Ukraine

Americans are strongly supportive of Ukraine and overwhelmingly favor economic sanctions against Russia.

The caveat here is there is low support for boots on the ground with a silver lining being high support for NATO and keeping troops in Europe. It's almost a return to the old cold War consensus where proxy wars can become unpopular but the enemy is clear and constant

How the fuck are we supposed to control our anxiety levels.

I've done my best by it's going downhill since 2016. I even managed to get throught the damn pandemic without losing my cool but this nuclear threat bullshit may just do it, lol!

China should pick a side seriously, enough with the double play
Go dive deep into some hobbies. A Tsar Bomba won't magically appear over your home because you decided to go snuggle off in your room and listen to some jp lofi music while you read a book lmao.

The tip-toeing around making Russia angry is ridiculous. Their illegal and unjustified invasion has been halted. They're committing war crimes because they have no military strategy. This is 100% Russia's fault. They deserve to be punished.

But everyone is afraid to make Russia angry because of nukes or actually having to help Ukraine fight back on the battlefield.

At this point no military breakthrough outside of Ukraine military collapse would get them any leverage. If they get Mariupol and get the land bridge to Crimea, it would still not be enough if the other fronts continue under control / losing ground.

This is the best HD video I found of the ships hit and the damage. You can see the Alligator here is burning hot internally, so is most likely a lost cause and is salvage now. The forward landing doors are also open showing flames everywhere, either blown open or open for another reason (not for unloading). Also, I can't tell if it is reflections or there are flames coming out from the side hull in a view spots.

The two Ropucha class LSTs are definitely damaged with both having active fires on the bow (the one in the back has active flames on its deck). While they are on the move and a float , they may not be fully operational without repairs.

EDIT: Found a longer version:

UA doesn't need NATO boots on the ground.

With enough heavy equipment to support the multitude of willing reservists and more anti-air/anti-missile cover to protect the civilians in the cities, Ukraine would go on the offensive and push the Russians back within months.

I feel like what this thread needs is:
  • Ban anyone who downplays the threat of nuclear war for 1 day minimum
  • Mandate that they watch Threads or another realistic nuclear war story in order to come back

I don't think the US will ever be pro-boots on the ground unless directly attacked. Then all bets are off.

The reason why we are here in the first place is because we've been scared of angering Russia for decades. I'm not surprised.

Nah one month ban. Its exactly the same as warmongering. And Threads is a must watch. No one wins this. If this goes nuclear because we call Putin's "bluff" we are all dead. Allowing the advocation of "calling it" in here is bullshit.

Yeah all those arms and intel are just hypocritical posturing. We all know who Boris is rooting for 🤭.

But we ARE making Russia angry. But just not in a suicidal way but with economic sanctions like there have never been before. Those sanctions are demolishing the Russian economy. The exit from Russian gas and oil will cut even deeper in the long term.

I don't see any tiptoeing, I see harsh and resolute reactions from the west.

The one thing we are not doing (which we should keep that way) is actively engaging with military means. Reasoons being we want the human race to further exist in a scenario that's not like Fallout.

Damn shame they couldn't finish off the other two.

Nice to remind Russia they're not safe in their lil harbors though. Ukraine is out for blood.

While the claims of denazification are straight propaganda, the whitewashing and support of the Azovs is deeply worrisome for the future.
Ukraine is due for an election in 2024.

If Ultra-nationalists show significant gains, then we can revisit this.

With the outlawing of all the old pro-Russian and left-ish parties (that were all fragments of the CPSU in Ukrainian SSR, and all oriented towards Moscow in some fashion- the Socialists tried to pretend to be more pro-Europe and even joined the Orange coalition in 2004, but then they broke ranks and joined a coalition government with the pro-Russian party of Regions and CPU in 2007--thus discrediting themselves to the more West-leaning leftists), and the anticipated reconstruction boom, the time is ripe for a new, patriotic and pro-western worker's party in Ukraine. This will hopefully lead to a more balanced political spectrum in Ukraine, once the Russian factor is eliminated for good.

Azovs can be dealt with in time. Getting bogged down in that discussion is what Russia wants.

Now is not the time though. The potential death and annexation of Ukraine by a much larger threat to the world is a much bigger issue.

That's not what I said. The Tories were in bed with Russian oligarchs, there's one in the House of Lords FFS. Boris sees this as an opportunity to get out from under Russian influence, the current propaganda and fake news from Russia makes denial easier if anything does come out.
