Yep. The games were expensive to make, DS1 and 2 didn't sell enough to make them profitable enough for EA, and DS3 flopping was the final nail in the coffin.
It's kind of a huge bummer to see that people would get so hype at this considering how EA treated this franchise.

This is an interesting one because it'd be a completely new team handling the series. If they have the right vision for it, I'm in.
Oh yeah 3 on its own is rubbish, but playing with a good friend it was a cool experience. But yeah on your own probably made it worse then 1 or 2.
Good for the IP but I'm going to be so disappointed if a year + of KOTOR rumors leads to nothing
Success of Jedi Fallen Order putting EA back on single player, Mass Effect collection giving them more faith in their IP from a decade ago, and the general success of the fairly similar-to-Dead Space recent Resident Evils seems like it would add up to Dead Space being a no brainer.
I'm kinda surprised really? Maybe EA saw the sales of the Resident Evil remakes (plus the horror revival in general) and that restored confidence?

That wasn't really where the problems from DS 3 came from as I understand it since let us turn Dead Space into a grindy looter shooter was a management call.
Revival would almost certainly start with remasters, right?

Yeah, the series was lucky to end at 3 before EA could drive it further into the ground and kill it for good.

I love this whole franchise. I'll even defend 3 vehemently: the ice planet part was on the weak side, but I though the first half of the game in the ship graveyard was a lot of fun and very dead space. I even like the Wii game and the iOS one.
Not against remakes, but I almost never play games I've already completed, not even Demon's Souls PS5 tempted me for that reason.
When the first 2 game out I had a very good PC and I played them on an 27" IPS 1440p monitor (which was luxurious at the time) so I feel I've already had a fairly premium dead space experience.
The games themselves, 7.9-8.0/10, nothing special, but solid.

Oh wow. and I just read a post by another person saying it was the best in the series. lol. Thanks anyways I guess I'll just look up DS3 videos on YouTube.
Failure of Battlefield Hardline and years of development Hell on a Star Wars game. Like, EA did not axe Visceral the day after DS3 came out, they shambles of for a few years afterwards.
