I think that all of these new cards are overpriced and to those looking for value and longevity I would recommend sitting this generation out.

Eh, I don't disagree but I used to upgrade to a midrange card every 2-3 years. I agree they're too expensive, but I'm still rolling a 970 and it's been showing its age for a while now. I'd like to have something that can handle 1440p better, and there's just not a lot of options.

I want this or the 3070 but it looks like 2021 will be a time where I would even have a chance to get one.

Eh it's in a non-windowed case and also an matx board in an atx case. Don't matter to me and actually most of it is necessary for the reach.

Atx board you wouldn't see any of that. Like I said it doesn't matter as It's not a windowed case.
I think people have been spoilt by tech youtubers. That's a perfectly fine cable job for a windowless case for sure.

Yep there actually are ties on pretty much everything. It's mainly just that it's a huge case with a tiny board. I also have a bunch of case fans which most people neglect because they're dumb. There's 2 more in the front besides the 240 rad and another one in the back you can't see in the pic. Enjoy your hot boxes. Whatevs.

A 3080 or 3090 then. That's what it takes for some recent games and it'll only get more demanding in the coming years
My 4 year old 1070 runs most games above 70 or 80fps near ultra, don't scare the poor lad. New consoles might make games a bit more demanding but not by enough that you need to spend $600+ to be satisfied with 1080p performance. If anything i'd say that before considering RT, 1080p is pretty much killed with the 3070 and nothing will play below 100fps for years.

That's understandable. I'm in a worse situation, I have a 1050 Ti but I mostly play turn-based games and backlog stuff so I don't feel much pressure to upgrade yet. Ideally I'd like to upgrade once and be able to ride out the generation playing everything at 60 fps and reasonable settings but I just don't think that $400 for ballpark console performance is a good deal.

Honestly the crypto mining boom way back ruined the GPU pricing for good. Doubt we'll ever get back to those prices.

I think we'll have to wait until the next graphics card generation to know for sure. Usually the better-value cards arrive a year or so after a console launch (8800 GT, GTX 970).

of course the lower end cards will get much more supply...meanwhile the cards everyone really wants won't be available until early 2021

Mid and low range cards tend to sell a lot more than high end cards, so it makes sense to have more supply. Card like the 3070 and up are only the cards that people tend to prefer in very niche enthusiast circles.

Hey I had the same cards.
Want to build a new Pc this year. But I think for the time being i will put the GTX970 in it. Wait until the new gen cards are better available and better priced.

I mean, he's also asking for 120fps. Without a VRR monitor, getting a stable 120 in non-multiplayer games is gonna require sacrifices. Settings or budget (or both going forward)

That chart suggests it's almost exactly the same as the 3070, (8-10%) what on Earth is happening at Nvidia?

Why not concentrate on a single sku production?

I want to eventually upgrade my PC so it's VR Ready, I have everything except and new GPU (Current is a 1060, 6GB). I think I'll still go for a 3070, but depending on the performance of the 3060TI I may go for that instead.

That's going to translate into some nice performance in mid-range laptops next year when paired with AMD's latest CPU offerings.

A 1060 6GB still works fine for VR on first generation headsets (OG Rift, Vive, Rift S etc.) without supersampling although if you're wanting to get the most out of an Index/Reverb G2/Quest 2 then you'll want a GPU upgrade.

Does that mean supply of the 3060ti will actually be the inverse of 3070 supply? If the yield failure rates are very high it means less 3070 stock but more 3060ti stock?
I mean yes, but they can still make 3060Tis without being failed yields from the 3070. It just means they are able to reuse some of the failed 3070s as a cheaper (and less powerful) card.

What I'll be going for since 3070s don't exist.

How does this compare to what's in the new consoles?

Got lucky enough to get a RTX 3070 in stock for 520€ last week.

Still interested in knowing how well 3060TI performs

I got a 3070 but my old 6700k is bottlenecking me in many games. Perhaps I should have waited.

The performance of these new card seem very condensed to me. 3060ti is faster than a 2080 super and 3070 is sometimes barely faster than a 2080ti. I wonder the 3060ti exists because of a supply thing

In theory it's equal to the Series X.

Should be equal or a bit above in normal circumstances, but much better than both consoles with RT and DLSS enabled.

I can only hope to get one. Needs to be in stock, within price exchange + import budget range, and the PC quick enough lol too many variables.

Gonna have better RT performance than either, massive gains in games with DLSS. Non rt/dlss situations should be a bit above current consoles.
Good to know. Equal or better than XSX is what I've been going for with my new build. Only need this one now.

Why are people shocked about a $400 Xx60 card? We already had one with the 2060 super. Did people expect the prices to go down?

Yup. People here might be biased since everyone and their mother here have a xx70/80/90 series card. But those cards aren't affordable for the masses.

Oh good. I might be able to snag one of these instead. I really don't care. I just need something to shove into this computer that's better than the 1070 I have.

It's a new arch with a whole slew of improvements. Why keep the old one then?

The RTX 3060 is """""launching""""""" this Wednesday. Meanwhile I'm still trying to get my hands on a 3080 before Cyberpunk.

I think if I get any card in the next year (or possibly two) it'll be the 3080. 3060ti doesn't seem like much of an upgrade over my 2070.
