I don't count GTA 5 remaster for PS4/X1 because it was released and made for PS3/X360 in mind.

PS2/Xbox - Midnight Club, Oni, GTA 3,GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, Italian Job, Max Payne 2,Midnight Club 2,Manhunt, Midnight Club 3,Table Tennis,Bully,Manhunt 2

PS3/X360- GTA 4,GTA 4 The Lost and Damned/Chinatown Wars/Ballad of Tony Gay, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, GTA 5

PS4/X1 - Red dead redemption 2.

Im actually glad they won't release GTA 6(probably) on PS4/X1 because the game could be spectacular if it is made for next gen systems in mind which are turning out to be very powerful. I just hope for more masterpieces from Rockstar next gen, for example Bully 2.

I imagine Bully 2 getting delayed/cancelled had a hand in this. They WERE actually working on that for current-gen consoles at one point, right?

Yeah, it's kind of pathetic honestly. They're a shell of their former selves, just milking that GTA V train for all it's worth

I kinda feel like GTA V was effectively a cross-gen game. It ran on last gen consoles fine enough, but the majority of its' post-launch support was for next-gen systems. Plus, it's a damn good remaster.

It's just the nature of the beast when making a game as vast and detailed aa rdr2.
They have also been busy making a current gen GTA5 and making content for gta online.

Making video games takes time. It's hard work to do.

Also, discrediting any of the work that was done for GTA Online is one hell of a way to just ignore work they've done this entire generation.

Both RDR2 and GTA V remastered are among the best games of the generation. I'd rather Rockstar take their time and release large AAA games every 4-5 years then rushing games out. Also, hoping this generation was a fluke and they end up releasing more next generation.

Why release games when GTA5 sells 115 million copies and keep selling, alongside raking in 6 billion dollars on that game alone.

well its due to their success, not failure, so Im cool with it. We got RDR 2 and gta online in its current state from them, so Im glad they take their time and commit.

6+ years to develop a game, gens are like 6+ years. I guess the math is right? Like, they could just make different teams and do more than one game at a time, but they would never do something big budget as RDR2 in this case.

I wouldn't release a game either if the game I released last generation was immortal, and the game I released this generation sold over 25 milions

They've released a bunch of GTAO DLC this generation, though. That's not an excuse, though...

I guess they really do need the Benz to increase their output.

What a weird thing to say lol

The games they deliver tend to blow out just about every other game on the market. Hell, GTAV is as popular now as it's ever been.

You can look at it that way or you could say they have been keeping one of the best selling games ever alive for years with free content?

Poor LA Noire Remaster wasn't even remembered enough to not qualify.

Either was the VR version I suppose. Same with Arkham VR apparently, if Arkham Knight is considered Rocksteady's only game this gen.

How is Rockstar going to create multiple games a la RDR2 which was 5 TV seasons' worth of performance capture? Plus all the RDR2 online and GTA online that people are playing solo even?

The game they released last generation, GTA 5, is the third best selling game of all time at 115 million units. So it kind of makes sense. They are just counting money at this point. The best selling game of all time is Minecraft btw, and have you seen Minecraft 2?

They have a GaaS in GTA Online which they have supported well. Why release new games when you can just make content for your already released one that millions still play?

I don't get why this is so important. They've been working on the online versions of GTA and RDR, and we know that game development for all devs is taking longer as the demands for higher aesthetics increases. None of the other devs listed have made any more than 3-4 games (not counting remasters). They are making huge open world games that take more time than any other type of game outside of MMOs maybe.
