So, South Africa defeated Apartheid in 1994 in its first ever democratic election, but remains a country with the highest disparity with regards to wealth distribution. 80% of the country is black (Black African, Indian and Coloured population), yet despite all this, Richard Branson, in his new Entrepreneurial creating centre in South Africa posed for an all-white photo.

From the article :

"Billionaire founder of the Virgin group of companies, Richard Branson, has apologised for a photo tweeted from his Twitter account following the launch of his new centre for entrepreneurship in South Africa.

The Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship will assist a select group of entrepreneurs with dedicated project managers to help grow their businesses, and it will also provide administration, finance and legal functions to participants."

Also:

"
Fresh from the debate in South Africa, Branson moved on to more controversy Down Under.
On Tuesday, he told the Sydney Morning Herald that the Australian government should fight climate change by stopping the use of coal, and halting coal exports to China.
His remarks sparked a torrent of criticism, with the Sky News television presenter Rita Panahi dubbing Branson - whose group runs planes, trains and a new launched cruise line, all of which are considerable polluters - "the world's biggest hypocrite".

Edit: A correction. South Africa is basically 90% black when including other people of color minority groups.

While this apparently largely an 'optics' issue, with this being only part of the group involved in his program, there is still a lot of networking here that operates along racial lines, afaik. So, unfortunately, it isn't exactly unheard of to have photos like this.

Just a correction. The 80% doesn't include Indian South Africans, they are classified as Asian, and doesn't include Coloured people. Coloureds are regarded as a distinct group here, unlike many other countries, though they may sometimes fall under 'black' in terms of laws that aim to redress the effects of apartheid.

Black + Coloured + Indian would be more like 90% of the population.

Yeah, it's the context that makes it messed up, looking like a Neal Blomkamp film in there.

Thanks for clarifying. 90% of the country and Richard Branson took a group photo like this. Amazing.
