Yeah maybe I am skipping this one and will play part 2. If it was more polished I would have bought it at launch. I can see their reasoning for the early launch, but they should have put some manpower on patches, seeing how well it sold. But those decisions are made by the higher-ups who only care about money, so there is nothing to be done here... still salty about Link's Awakening remake for the same reasons.

The game was a bit buggy but reading this thread you'd think it was some broken unplayable pile of shit. Guess you can always rely on era for hyper reactionary takes when it comes to gaming though.

funny coincidence that this news broke out when jason leaked that EA also cancelled a SW game because it wouldnt hit 2020. Seems like EA really dont like changning their time schedule.

Can't remember any apparent bugs during my playthrough. Game's main issues certainly weren't "bugs".

No they didn't?

I saw a lot of reviews commenting on the buggy state of the game.
I barely saw that or heard about it in podcast discussions, just mostly a lot of "this is the best star wars game in years! OH my gawd I loved it so much!!!", sorry but critics are just bad in this industry.

The performance on the One X is (or at least was back in the day) terrible in some places. Even when the superb intro runs smoothly, the first planet runs like shit while being the least graphical amusing one.

I beat it last month, and it looked and felt just as bad as day 1.

I also want to add that I feel the reviewers out there really did a disservice to the customers. I realize most of them play on PC, X1X and PS4 Pro, but most of us own a base console (100 million + of us, in fact), and almost every review I read or watched mentioned the glitches and unfinished state of the game in passing or not at all. It was the first time in awhile that I was generally shocked by how poorly the game ran once I started playing it. Usually, there's some kind of heads up, but not this time. Resetera, on the other hand, was on it, and let everyone know as soon as the game was released.

My lesson out of this is that I should always wait for Era impressions.

Well, I guess I won't play this anytime soon then ! :D

It was a mess and still is. Also seems like that they completely dropped the support aswell. No new game + or anything. shame.

I always feel bummed about others having bug issues. For Fallen Order, I don't remember any bugs for me (maybe some goofy animations, but nothing more) and I rarely encounter bugs in other games

Props for the honesty, and i pretty much agree with them.

They knew they had a 80+ opencritic game, delaying it 3 months might have risen the opencritic by a few points but how much money is that going to cost and how many sales will they lose by delaying it afer the holidays.

At the end of the day, we still got a good Star Wars game, which is something we haven't been able to say in a long time. Hopefully the sequel will be more polished.

Like many others here have said. They should have delayed it.
Probably should've smoother out the combat too. Shit is mad janky.

I didn't get any game breaking bugs myself, just very small inconsequential ones, but this is a bad mentality to have imo.

Eh.

Even without the bugs, I don't think I'd have liked fallen order more.

I think they made the smarter business move launching in fall + capitalizing on TROS coming out

Played on X1X and encountered like ~5 bugs start to finish, none game breaking. I'm glad they got it out when they did

Yeah, fuck the people buying the stuttering bug-fest of a game as long as it made the publisher bank. Solid reasoning.

Was the console version really that bad? I played on PC at launch, and I didn't encounter anything noticeable.

I was pretty upset how bad it was and I'm usually quite tolerant on technical aspects of games. My anger was amplified by not being satisfied with the combat. While it's not a classic corridor shooter, that was the level of quality and fidelity I expected. The tutorial level was what I hoped for from the rest of the game.
Long story short I ended up playing the game on easy because I just wanted to get done with it and not escalate my disappointment. Titanfall 2 was in a whole other league in my opinion.

I was on X, it seems like a lot of the complaints are coming from PS4 owners. Perhaps that version is more prone to streaming issues or something
Saw far more people with the vanilla Xbox One and even PC versions getting awful bugs on Twitch. PS4/Pro weren't immune, either.

Some folks in this thread are already saying like "it was normal amount of bugs" despite the developer straight up admitting it was rampant with issues lol

Makes me a bit sad how far the bar has dropped for "acceptable" quality, in many areas of the industry.

re-reading my post i can see how you came to that conclusion, i should have worded itbetter.

i platinumed the game and its probably the most unpolished ps4 game ive played, but what i meant to say is that i still enjoyed it despite that, and I understand why they didnt delay it and their explanation is better than most publishers who pretend like theres no issues.

if that makes sense, obviously id have preferred that they got more time to polish.

I don't think it would have made the game any better, I was caught up in Mandalorian hype and kind of hoped for a satisfying game. It barely managed that with the farting cushion monsters and sliding platforming so it might as well have been set in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Jedi Fallen Order was probably the buggest, jankiest, AAA major release I've played in like a decade. It definitely soured my overall experience with the game. If a sequel happens I'll be waiting a few months to make sure its not a similar buggy janky mess, no way I'll be buying it at launch.

You didn't play Battlefield 4, Anthem, or Fallout 76?

And what's wrong with what the poster said? Respawn pretty much admits they shipped the game with the copious amount of bugs it had knowingly and barely addressed a lot of the problems with post-release patches.

If you're going to blacklist an entire developer for releasing a buggy game, you're not going to be playing many video games at all.

And that's ignoring the conversation as to whether or not EA would have let them delay it outside of the holidays.

It's a matter of expectations. I personally feel less charitable to a game with a mega-popular license backed by huge corporations like EA and Disney and developed by the talented Respawn as opposed to say a bunch of college kids releasing their first indie title on Steam early access.

If people were disappointed with the state of such game's release then so be it.

I played this game at launch and the only bug I experienced was one game crash. Outside of that everything worked just fine (PC version btw). Maybe I was just really lucky.
