I love Star Trek and ASOIAF/Game of Thrones more than FrontierGamer loves FF15. Balee dat.
But I don't think I can go toe-to-toe with them on love for a particular video game. They've got that on lockdown.

I see that Mr. Bones mention, don't think you can hide that masterpiece from the 'highlight vote' tier.
Also the world needs to know the greatest platforming level of all time.
The Top 3 I did is not personal.
It's more like a scale of "world importance" than the games I mentioned.
(Since they are all 3 masterpieces)
My real personal Top of the best Final Fantasy I have not written yet, but in the future I could do it in a conversation dedicated to the saga :)

I wouldn't put a single Final Fantasy game aside of 6 and 12 in any best "games list".
That whole series is just disappointing for me since I discovered Atlus and Falcom games I have never looked back, even if I'll say that I found XV to be passable, even if it's still an unfinished mess.

Undertale was never going to beat the game that it was inspired from, has just a rabid fanbase, and lack the bizarre backlash that Undertale seems to have. Though it's good that it made Top 30 and maybe it will rank higher with the Switch release.
Also Earthbound is definitely in the Top 20.
all games from FF IV (except VIII) to FF X followed by FF XII and FF XIV are serious 8.5/10s at worst, 10/10 at best.
I have played them all, I like them all except 2 and 13, I just don't think they are that great.
I'd even say 14 is great, kinda forgot about that one since it's so different from the rest.
So yeah, aside of 6, 12, and 14... the series has just been a huge disappointment for me, but I'm okay with it, mass appealing games are usually not "the best", and there are way worse offenders than the Final Fantasy series.
In a list of the best rpgs of all time, I just find the FF games to be heavily outclassed by many games, but well, I can see how some of them can be good "beginner" rpgs.
XC2 in top 30 is pretty good for a game with such a vocal hatebase.
Undertale not in top 20 is disappointing. Unfortunately I think the memes and claims of a horrible fanbase or whatever has put a lot of people off playing it if they didn't get into it in the first year or so. It really is a fantastic, truly unique game and is easily my game of the generation.

FF6 is a god tier game that constantly challenges itself to offer something surprising and novel. Disagree, it's a really good product of the SNES era

Origins is high, but then again, it's downhill from here in the series for most people due to revolving door writing crews and EA Fuckery.

I really enjoyed it at launch, but it's the story that I wasn't too thrilled about. I don't know how the updates address that.
I ask because I remember a user creating artificial XV praise threads just to get the critics there.
With all the vocal haters its easy to forget that XC2 was in the top 10 on the era GOTY list last year. It's a game with a lot of love on era as well as a lot of dislikes
I'm listening to the OST highlight playlist while I'm doing some cleaning. I'm not familiar with a lot of the early games, so to me a lot of them have sounded kind of "generic fantasy" so far (not saying they're bad songs in themselves). Then Strange Journey shows up and it's like NOW FOR SOME OPPRESSIVE CHANTING! lol
