User banned (permanent): Inflammatory attempt to rile up community; ignoring staff guidelines.
A specter is haunting ResetEra -- the specter of leftism. All the powers of ResetEra have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this specter.
As anyone who reads ResetEra knows, this is a fairly center-right liberal leaning forum. Political threads frequently get dominated by these members, many of whom are given protected status by mods, and dissenters are attacked relentlessly. In spite of this, the forum has had a great selection of leftists in the past who were willingly to wade into these threads and argue that a better world is possible if only we would fight for it. Over the past 3 years, however, many of these people have been driven off the site, many of them LGBTQ, disabled and POC, either by bannings (almost always disproportionate to liberals in the same discussions received) or by simply getting fed up by constantly being talked down to and demeaned by the bougie, largely white, PoliEra crowd. So many great comrades are gone from this site while the people who mocked and bullied them remain here, protected by mods whose attitude towards policing political threads seems best summed up as "the beatings will continue morale improves."
This situation has been rapidly deteriorating recently with any thread concerning Biden filled with liberals attacking any justified criticism of him, and even threads where no criticism exists filled with subtweeting of leftists for not posting in every thread about Biden. However, all of that pales in comparison to the shitshow that was the thread concerning Biden's agenda for LGBTQ plans. It began with Oheao responding to Biden's plan to involve foreign policy and punish countries which were unfriendly towards LGBTQ people by wondering if this would apply to Saudia Arabia. He received dozens of angry replies from liberals and was banned for "thread derailment" despite being a direct response to a line in the OP. Several other leftists were banned over the course of the thread, most alarmingly, psychoward, who is bi, was banned for defending his views, while Yayate received only a warning for claiming that bi men were not LGBTQ enough. To add insult to injury, in the rebooted thread Transistor claimed " Do not throw LGBTQs or other minorities under the bus, especially that of fellow members." while the staff had just banned an LGBTQ member and protected those who threw him under the bus. And you people wonder why so many great members who aren't banned have abandoned this website. A follow up thread by Xaszatm to discuss the insulting way in which the left are constantly whitewashed despite their diversity was immediately locked with no room for discussion.
Enough is enough. I'm sure you'll ban me for this. It doesn't matter. For I'm just a man. And there will always be another KuwabaraTheMan. Another Oheao. Another Azuran. Another Desparadina. Another Psychoward. Because individually we are but people, but collectively we are a movement. And our movement can't be banned.
