Democrats won The House, The Senate and the presidency and it took them 1 month to fuck up the good will they gained and completely screwed up what they are even passing.

It's complete malpractice to literally give people money and still somehow fuck up your own messaging .

That's an awful summation when it was the Democrats who helped passed the previous bill and why we even getting more checks in the first place.

And get out of here with the "Trump Stimulus" nonsense.

I get her message, but this is disingenuous. The democrats are adding this on top of the already passed stimuluses that the dems helped to pass. This is bonus stimulus that did not happen under Trump, despite dem efforts. This is bonus stimulus that would not have happened had the 2020 election turned out differently.

This. It's not like we're starting over a "What If" scenario, that being said they shouldn't be caving to any demands or pearl clutching from the other side. Fuck them.

This is not accurate. She didn't even really say this in what is posted in the OP. As a whole the bill is far more than Trump did in his entire admin.
I took exactly what CNN said

She's focusing on truthful context but it's not all the context this situation deserves. Without dems winning, there would likely be no 2021 stimulus, and the checks that passed last year did in spite of republicanism, not because of it. And her saying this is just throwing kerosine on more Democrat in-fighting that is hurting our unity against republicans.

That's a terrible liveblogged CNN headline but she didn't say anything wrong.

Clearly the solution is to send out another round of checks asap and stop means testing

The media is garbage in the end. They tell you the negative and that's what the people say. They don't tell you the context of everything Democrats have done so far. And this is what the people see.

Biden's approval rating is 60%, 70% on Covid. This bill is *hugely* popular, which is why the GOP is so invested in sabotaging it.

People really gonna be in here acting like the previous two stimulus bills happened because of the goodwill from Trump and Republicans and not due to the democrats relentlessly pushing for it over the entire course of 2020

what a load of horseshit.

biden would have no issue sending money to all, to pass $15, but how does it happen when you have obstructionist in the senate wasting time playing political football.

remember, when trump was president, all the dems voted for the stimulus. passing stimulus bills is a piece of cake when it's bipartisan.

(those bills also didn't include adult dependents or state aid or child tax credits, etc... but go off)

Agree as well. Dems have basically two years before they potentially lose the ability to pass national legislation for a decade or more. They don't have time to fuck around or pretend to be taking a stance on some minor issue.

It doesn't matter who pushed the bill under the presidency. It was under Trumps tenure, which means that's what voters will identify with.

It's nice to hear a sitting Congresswoman playing up superficial platitudes.

"I mEaN sHes NoT WrOnG" even if she's entirely wrong about the general idea of Americans being better off under Trump.

My God, we continue to write our own obituaries for the sake of "technically true".

She's right - and we deserve everything we (Democrats) get in the 22 midterms. Fucking incredible.
I'd never seen the "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" line until recently, but it's absolutely true.

Biden has tremendous power in getting his party to fall in line, if he wants to. But he would rather be a damn weakling like Obama.

Where were the child tax benefits and stimulus for dependents under Trump? A family of four gets much more.

No one is basing their votes nearly 2 years from now on March 2021's spending bill and its really annoying every political thread here has like 20 people who think this

Like no one in 2020 was basing their vote in November on how the senate voted on a spending bill in March 2019, there was like 1000 more relevant political events afterwards

When you know fuckin' Ilhan Omar is saying something that benefits Trump, you fucked up badly. I'm sure liberals will be mad at her but not those who are cost cutting efforts that need injections of money, not deductions.

While I don't disagree that we should be holding the Dems feet to the fire I feel like she should have a frank discussion with Manchin and the rest of the hold outs. Though maybe she already has.

Please explain in detail what power Biden has over Joe Manchin, a senator whose state voted 69% for Trump and who can still easily win in his state if he decided to switch parties.

That's a hell of a statement coming from one of the most progressive people in the house. And sadly she's not wrong. The democrats get the power to do stuff and then of course they don't use the power for anything and then just get steamrolled by the GOP. God the Democrats suck.

frankly that's on dumb fuck voters who don't understand why this shit ain't easy.

these voters should be furious that not a single republican will vote for it.

This is a dumb-as-hell take and she should be ashamed for making it.

She's leaning on the checks. The checks are just a shiny object. The meaning is in the child tax credits, the UI extension, if the Carper amendment passes (and that friggin' Portman amendment doesn't), $10,000 in tax forgiveness for that UI income (!)

There is a *lot* more in this bill.

I get being frustrated with the process but she's not helping by saying it this way.

Unemployed people were getting $600 bonus under Trump, which is what should be in this new bill now under Biden. Instead, it's $400.

It's correct and millions of people who got a check from Trump will not receive them in 2021.

And what will be the explanation to these people?

You didn't deserve it?

The deficit is too high?

Joe Manchin said no?

This is as true as it needs to be for the people that want to believe it.

I wonder if the shock and theater of saying this will result in things changing in the bill, or if it'll just be Twitter fingers and subreddit burner upvoting?
I hope that the Senate will take this to instead make changes so that this isn't a credible talking point for anyone anymore, rather than leaving it to the people to decide.

As if checks are the only thing in the bill.

And as if the first stimulus plans weren't essentially Democratic legislation to begin with.

If you don't play the game to win, you're going to lose. Sitting back and going "It's the voters fault" isn't going to do shit even if it's technically true.

People were saying this before in all the election threads too lol... are people that terrified of criticizing democrats in America because the Republicans are that unified?

People don't want to reflect on the deficiencies in their own party because "at least we aren't the other guys" is easier to fall back on. Everyone knows the GOP are scumbags so it's not surprising when they act like it or do terrible shit, but when the GOP are in charge every single one of them back their parties policies.

Too many Dems are centrists first and what they will or won't support changes depending on the direction of the wind, or if they get enough incentive.
