Nintendo didn't put much effort into this collection. They were roms running through emulators - and the N64 emu was higher res, and same low frame rate.
While great for us, I'd guess more people buying a new system would be more interested in a new game rather than a pack of classics. Total anecdote, but my kids were excited for the new Mario Kart but couldn't give a shiiiiiiiiit for the NES or SNES games that came with Nintendo Online.
No.
I mean, Link's Awakening is sixty bucks and will stay that way for years. Great game, but like.... c'mon.
Well, that's kinda the point of my post. That part was a rhetorical question, the fact that Nintendo even did this is pretty nuts
Well... Why would Nintendo be "nice" like this when their fans are willing to pay 60 bucks for low budget 1:1 'remakes'.
N64 games were a lot fresher in 2003 than NES games are todayWhile great for us, I'd guess more people buying a new system would be more interested in a new game rather than a pack of classics. If people buy it for $60, they'll charge $60. Why wouldn't they? You're expecting them to charge less for a remake of an older game that's been remade from the ground up? It's unrealistic.
LOL, "Low budget" remake.
Fair point.
Generous Nintendo was them trying to get people to buy Wind Waker because they hated it before release.

But not really comparable. That was a full remake. Not ports like the Gamecube collection. No,

OoT and Master Quest was the preorder bonus for Wind Waker. This was out months later :PGenius way to trick people into buying Wind Waker. Desperate Nintendo is really just the worst sometimes.
To be frank both Crash and Spyro where basically in the trash in terms of relevance so them pricing it was more of making sure to boost the sales and revitalize them and Spyro was a case where they had to price it the same as Crash because it would look weird that one trilogy was $40 and the other $60I mean yeah that's not really that crazy. Shadow of the Colossus launched at $40, and the Crash and Spyro trilogies were each sets of THREE full games, fully remade, for $40 per trilogy.

the joke was on them, I'd already purchased the e-reader version of Ice Climber for a mere $5It's weird. On one hand, they were giving away old games on promo discs and jamming them into Animal Crossing en masse. But on the other, they were selling them for $20 a pop on the GBA. $20 for Ice Climber! In 2004!
Oh right, that's how I got it. Club Nintendo was amazing back in the day. I still have some really neat stuff that I redeemed through it

LOL, "Low budget" remake.
Pretty much.
I remember reading about it in game informer and then going to place my pre-order for Wind Waker and getting it right there and then.
👆🏽Crash Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy and Shadow of the Colossus were more polished experiences and were sold at 39,99 each, how is it unrealistic? Link's Awakening (2019) on the other hand is a 15 hours long game with barely anything new that manages to run like crap while having a fixed camera and graphics that wouldn't be at all demanding if well optimized, selling it at 59,99 is a mess and fans are to blame for enabling it.
Crash and Spyro don't look like full remakes while LA do, this a huge difference
And SotC looks like a remaster
