It's soon the 8th of March, aka International Women's Rights Day, so get ready for all the purplewashing that will come our way, because neo-liberal capitalism truly be trying their best to be the very worst and use us in anyway possible.

Big yikes energy.

Wasn't that pinkwashing?
I've always associated the purple range with the LGTB segment.

Pinkwashing is related to LGBT as a whole, while purplewashing is specifically related to feminism.
It's purple because, quoting Wikipedia here: "Purple has historically represented feminism." It was the suffragettes' color of choice while protesting.

It's really a term that mutated badly. Even more since pinkwashing originated from a breast cancer initiative that got used for woke points.

Okay, I've written and deleted this like three or four times now...

Last year I came to the realization I am some variety of non-binary; something akin to bigender or genderfluid. Neither of those are quite right, but gets you in the same neighborhood where I live. It's been a lot to unpack, and I've been climbing a hierarchy on introspection ever since about what I'm allowed to identify as. I've already gone through "Am I non-binary enough? Am I trans enough? Am I queer enough?" and I think all that's left is "Am I female enough?"

And I have to be honest, this is a hurdle higher than the rest. I don't... girl good. Part of that is just the weight of years of lack of experience, part of that is the "Why bother?" factor of knowing no one is going to take someone with my frame and features for a woman. The biggest factor though is I can't ever shake the feeling I'm guilty of some sort of gender appropriation, especially since the other half of the equation is that I still identify as male in spite of everything else (well, mostly. I've never felt all the way "there" on that, but that's a different discussion). I've never been harassed, I've never been mansplained to, I've never been called shrill, etc. I'm acutely aware of how much of my life is owed to being (outwardly) a straight white male, and I feel like I'm trying to buy my way in because I wear a little makeup and have some clothes from Torrid I stole from my wife.

I guess I didn't really have a conclusion to all of that. Hi ladies.

If other people see you as a woman it won't take long until you'll amass a lot of experiences of living public life as a woman.
You don't need to have suffered the official quantum of discrimination to be a woman. None of them are universal anyway. And there are enough cis woman who deny they even happen. Trans enough, woman enough, suffering enough, all these things don't exist. What counts is what makes you feel like yourself. Everything else is just noise. And if you worry about appropriation, it's way more important to be quiet and listen when someone tells you about an experience you didn't have. No matter if cis or trans.

Really do not like how insurance did not have to cover the entire cost of my cervical biopsy and now I have an almost $500 bill to pay. Well at least per my doctor the pre-cancerous cells should go anyway on their own.

I hate that so much. It happens way more often than you'd expect it to. So many assholes out there.

Honestly it doesnt happen to me. I tend to walk like a TRex with my elbows out creating space around me because I dont like people walking near me. Also I'm not gonna lie I'm not well endowed in that region so if anyone is gonna try to grab me there then they have to make some effort.

For a second I thought it was an accident because I'm significantly taller than the guy but it wasnt he should of never been that close to me regardless.

Ugh! Wtf? Like, what is your mindset where you think "oh, this is what I'm going to do right now"? Disgusting.
Ugh, seriously. I generally like to think I can at least understand the logic people use to get to a conclusion, but this is one of those things that I just. Cannot. Understand. HOW does a person get to the point where they're like "Yes, this is a normal and acceptable thing to do"?!
I don't understand and will never understand it. Like....what?

It's "normal" when you see women as sex objects for you to lust after and do as you please. It's something I've sadly had to become familiar with since shortly after I started puberty.

Same :( I had big boobs at 12, and adult men were disgusting about it

I relate to this, double Ds before I was a teenager. Boys my age were just weirded out, especially because I was super tomboy. And then the adult men... Used to get a lot of "you look ... very ... mature for your age," said with a certain twinkle in the eye. It makes me shake with rage thinking about it now ... I didn't quite understand it then and even wielded it a bit because it felt like a strange superpower, an access point to a subset of adults. Wish someone had explained to me I was building dangerously unhealthy habits.

Yeah it was rage inducing.
And we should totally be starting random 'how long does your period last?' Or 'Do you prefer rabbit ears or something else?' threads

I started puberty really young too. Like when I was... 10...? I had my period by the time I was 11, and was pretty curvy by 12/13. At that age I had already accepted that men would sometimes catcall me and such, and this was something that just happened. Obviously looking back now I'm completely revolted. I've had worse encounters as an adult, but yeah, it's depressing.

I'm down, let's have some super graphic period talk. Of course, we're gonna get a lot of dudes in there with "my girlfriend..." but as long as they're cool about it, I don't care.

I am in favor of talking about periods everywhere, all the time. Normalize it.

I'd be more than okay to normalize discussion of menstrual cycles, not just the bleeding period. Cis men seem to think that it's only an issue when we're bleeding but in fact it's a continuous cycle with many ups and downs. For me, handling my flow is the easy part, where as when I am ovulating, my hormones go freaking crazy.

I really dont understand guys and periods. I needed a plumber last month.

The guy asked the usual questions over the phone what do think the problem is? I told him and he said I was probably right (I was right no probably about it)
He asked if I had kids. I said no its just me my sister and my mother so that rules out iron man being stuck in my drain.
Then he asked the doosey or tried to. He asked if we had been flushing any um female products. He tried to say menstrual and just couldnt get it out. I'm like dude its ok to say the word and no we havent. Menstruation left my mother in the dirt a long time ago. Its contemplating divorce from my sister and it just shows up whenever with me.

I wanted to get real graphic and go hey even if i wanted to flush a pad mine are so long and thick it would just sit in the toilet and laugh at me.

I use to get really bad periods when I was a teen. Like become incapacitated bad. My guy friends would always ask what was wrong and if I even hinted at what it was they'd get real squeamish.

As dumb as my dad can be about some things, he never cared about me talking about my period or ranting at how bad it was. I'm thankful for that normalization and pushing me out of that view that it should only be something women whisper to each other about since I was insecure about it when I first had my period.

Semi related, anyone else think about menstrual cycles when they see bloody bathrooms in horror games? I'm a baby when it comes to horror, but all I think when I see a toilet full of blood is that someone must of had a heavy flow and didn't flush lol.

Yeah, I've had a similar experience Charlotte Lucas (including the really bad cramps as a teen). Even kind of recently I had a colleague ask what was wrong, and when I said I had period pains he basically tripped up over himself apologising. I was just like "Dude, it's fine, really. Natural, even!" :P

Help, boys are discussing shipping and fanfic (specifically the redemption arc) and there have already been posts saying it's not just a girl thing because it happens in slash fic too and I'm dying that these poor souls think its men writing slash.

www.resetera.com

Why are relationships like Sasuke/Sakura or Kylo Ren/Rey etc. so popular among girls?

I'm doing research for my Naruto Gaiden video. (Because doing Naruto videos gets me views for some reason) One thing I've noticed about these kind of relationships. SasuSaku Zutara from Avatar Reylo from Star Wars The Twilight relationships (What else is there besides these relationships, I...

Lol I left my two cents in that thread already, but I always get a kick outta those kinda topics. It's like guys just can't comprehend the idea of fiction when applied to women consuming it.
Men: enjoys all kinds of dangerous/morally wrong fantasy porn while playing games as a dude who runs around slaughtering everyone in sight
Also men: But this fictional character's an asshole who killed people, how can women like him?!

It's never that deep fam, it's just hot/fun and not real.

I personally don't like Sasuke or Kylo, but I do like Akechi and that topic reminds me a lot of him and how many dudes absolutely god damn hate him here. And hey, as someone who hates Sasuke I can totally get it, but there's always such an extra, unneeded edge of judgement around it when guys bring up the "bad boy" characters girls typically like. I stg, they're so gd salty.

I swear, this thread, askwomen on Reddit, and any other women centric forums are all I ever visit online nowadays.
