The only reason I clicked on that thread last night was because the original title (something along the lines of "My friend is going to be fired just for looking at someone", for those that missed it) elicited a knowing, "... Is he, though?"

Yeah, he kinda ruined his case immediately with his introduction. I'm surprised how the thread went (in a good way).
The woman who reported him to HR was in just as much danger of negative repercussions as he was. I've reported someone to HR for sexual harassment before who ended up being friends with people in high places. The place became so miserable to work for that I had to quit and find somewhere else to work--in that order. For my own mental health.

I'm playing Kuru Kuru Kurin for the first time ever and it's insane this hasn't been copied a million times and gotten milked to death. It's amazing. It's a concept so simple and addictive you wonder why it's so isolated.

Do you guys have any interesting websites you could recommend? Preferably ones that have a user base that trends left like Era. I've been slowly coming to a realization lately that I generally stick to four, maybe five sites nowadays and I kinda want to change that.
I despise Facebook and only still have an account just to keep up with new updates from a certain cat rescue. I don't really use Twitter either aside from also using it to check for news from a couple of accounts on occasion. I don't like using Discord for discussion aside from hosting a small chat with a few friends. Youtube is Youtube. Tumblr appears to be committed to manufacturing its own demise. Reddit is generally a toxic place with a userbase that I consider only one step above Youtube comments, but its the best place for niche discussions now and at least smaller subreddits tend to be bearable compared to the larger ones.
I think that's one of the most disappointing things about the slow harmonization of the internet into seemingly a handful of large websites owned by equally large companies. I first started using the internet when I was somewhere between 7 to 9 years old, waaay back in the late nineties. Especially in the early 20s, once internet speeds got better and browsing the internet wasn't quite as painful, you could literally spend hours googling any subject and find hundreds of unique websites that often had their own small communities. Didn't like one website? You usually had several other options to choose from. Nowadays google routes you to same handful of websites for anything you search for and even skewers results based on your browsing habits, plus it doesn't let you look very far into the search anymore either.
Of course it wasn't all good. Waiting for a website to load completely sucked, and before Youtube came around, trying to watch videos on the internet was often like trying to pull teeth. In my mind, I literally separate the internet between pre-Youtube and post-Youtube because it really changed everything. I guess I just kinda miss the wild west era of the internet where it seemed endlessly vast compared to how small it feels now. I think the thing I miss most is messages boards being more of a thing back then with smaller communities and mods who actually gave a shit, unlike the large corporations that run all of the big websites now and who don't care about moderating anything that has let actual fucking nazis take root in so many places. I wouldn't say its all nostalgia either because even into my early adult years it still felt like you had way more options for websites to browse.
There were a lot of pros and cons to the old internet, but hell if I won't defend the butt ugly graphics from that era. I unabashedly love all that ugly CGI and over the top garish graphics. It's one of the many reasons why I hate that Tumblr is shitting the bed because I have several people I'm following on there who archive old internet graphics and if Tumblr ever goes down that stuff is going to vanish like the websites they once belonged too.

Not really. I mostly stick to a few sites too. Here and Something Awful, which is not a place I would safely recommend to anyone. SA is compromised of megathreads where you can find a topic on almost anything and is pretty active for as old of a forum as it is, but the moderation is very spotty and how good it is varies on the mod. Some threads are inclusive and doesn't shy away from progressive ideas, but others are no better than youtube comments mostly because the mods abandoned those threads.
After the implosion of Tumblr, I've been hanging around Pillowfort. I really like the vibe and the focus on building communities for different topics. Reminds me of Livejournal, but the site is still very slow because of the sudden increase in users.
It was actually a place I avoided during its heyday. I only started going because a LPer I liked posted updates there and it, surprisingly, was one of the few gaming forums that wasn't blocked by my old job.

This is hella belated and I don't even ever really post in here, but I had a good chuckle at this one.
I expected that thread to go worse than it did. There were still some posts that elicited serious side-eye, but I've seen far worse here overall.
my computer caught a worm saving some pics from SA several years ago, so now I don't bother with them at all
I used tumblr mainly for reblogging fanart of the various fandoms I'm into. Would reddit be a good fit for me, to find new fanart and fandom related stuffs? I haven't really used it before so I'm not super familiar with the site.
It depends. Say like the Pokemon subreddit, which I personally don't care for because its like 90% fan art when I'd rather look for discussions. Off-season or ended shows with nothing new coming out for them are pretty much all fan art and shitposting. Avoid the Steven Universe subreddit when the show is on hiatus (AKA pretty much always) because those poor people tend to descend into insanity and the hiatus shitposting becomes the stuff of legends.
There are several subreddits I follow where a good amount of fanart is posted and where you can have pretty good discussions.

Didn't know there was a knitting/crochet thread. I've started to learn how to knit so that ot looks like a good source of information.
My aunt has now twice this week left me messages saying it was the wrong day of the week.
More fodder for the neurologist I guess. She had an appointment on 12/26 but the doctor canceled on her and now it's 1/30. My aunt is 71 and I think she's displaying early signs of dementia. This is just more evidence, and indisputable evidence at that, as I can just show the doctor my phone.

That sounds like it. They also place things in the wrong places (like keys in the fridge) and show up to things at wrong dates/times. But it could be something else as well.
Yeah she lost her keys a week or so ago and got so upset at my uncle that she told him she'd go live at the Salvation Army. Seriously.
Thankfully my uncle lives with her so she hasn't forgotten appointments and shit yet. However, one time a few months ago she forgot the day and failed to meet me for lunch. But she wasn't acting as bad then.
She got into a major car accident a few months ago and totaled her car (all she got were minor bruises at least). She claimed the other car was at fault to us, but the police report said otherwise. We begged her not to get a new car, but she did anyway.... and lied to my face about it. I ended up going to lunch with just my uncle a few days later and he told me the truth.
Another sign of dementia, erratic financial behavior, doesn't really work for evidence as she has always been absolutely god awful with money and I don't think she could get any worse.
She is repeating stories and such more than usual, constantly sending me cards in the mail for no reason or for congratulating me on something I did 10 years ago, and also verbalizing her thoughts.
I hope the doctor isn't shit because this seems really clear cut to me.
I hope the doctor can make the correct diagnosis and of course take her license away before she gets seriously injured. I had one family member try to drive and ended up driving on the wrong side of the road. She could have caused an accident had a cop not stopped her.
I'm sorry. I work with a lot of dementia patients and it's soul draining for families involved. Take care of yourself and your family.
Thanks. I wish my uncle wasn't in total denial and keeps taking her to her psychiatrist, who just keeps upping her meds to tranquilize her.

I want to try out a diva cup but I keep hearing about them spilling or creating gas and now this lmao. How do you like it minus the sneeze removal?
To be fair I'm new to using it and didn't have it in right. I'm going to buy a couple different sized cheaper ones and give it one or two more periods to get the hang of it.
There's a leaning curve that I might liken to putting in contacts and I certainly haven't mastered it yet.
If I had any advice to someone based on my limited experience it's that you shouldn't practice trying to put it in and get comfortable with it when you're not on your period. I know because I tried the day I got it in the mail and my over excitement got me into trouble. I had a hard time getting comfortable with the stem so I trimmed it down but then I had too hard of a time getting it out because it suctioned too high up near my cervix, which was already high because I was between cycles and ovulating. The suction, the depth, and the sliperyness made it hard to get out and made me go into a mini panic. I got it out eventually and talked to to customer care and they told me I shouldn't have nearly the same experience when I'm actually on my period. They thought I might have trimmed the stem too short and offered to ship me a new one but I never got around to it and felt kind of embarrassed that I did it wrong and didn't take them up on it.
It seems like it's worth giving a fair shot since I'm pretty sure most of my problems stem (ha!) from not having the hang of it yet.
I didn't feel any more gassy then normal but I felt like I had to pee more. Then again, I'm really out of touch with my body sometimes and that probably has nothing to do with it.

Oh wow so you had a tricky time with it lol. I keep waiting for my period to buy one and try it out when I do hermit days and stay at home but I skip my period often and also ALWAYS chicken out at the store and say "maybe next period". I just think the concept is so alien to me that I think tampons will just be easier. The most enticing feature is that it is reusable and I can sterilize it as much as I want and do not have to hurt the earth with all the excess waste pads and tampons create. The slipperyness is the thing I fear the most, and spillage.
Cups are amazing imo, once you get used to it. I could never grip the stem right so I would actually grip the cup itself and twist until I got it free. Once you break the seal it's easy to remove.
Also, I'm rather new to birth control, and got some generic brand. It's my third month and it makes me crazy nauseated. Is this normal? It's even labeled low dose :(

It's not normal, but it's a common side effect.
You may want to try another type.
How long did it take you to get used to it? At what point were you like, okay this is better than tampons.
I'm going back to my doctor next month, hopefully she has something to recommend.
Got used to it in the first few days, and the first night is when I had that reaction because I didn't have to wake up in the middle of night to make sure I didn't leak. It's very nice to go the entire workday without having to excuse myself to bathroom multiple times, though my flow has never been extremely heavy. Honestly it's less 'there' than a tampon is when it is inserted, and also less irritation because you never have to replicate the dry tampon pull out feeling.
You DO have to get used to the idea that you may have to stick your fingers inside your vagina with the possiblity of some blood getting on them. But it happens. Cups also produce less smell because the blood isn't exposed to the open air for bacteria to enter, so it's very discrete for that reason too. Haven't used tampons in nearly a year :)
So I did a little research and you can report an unsafe family member driver to our state's DMV. All you gotta do is fill out a short form. Now all I need to do is speak with my husband and decide whether we send that shit in immediately or wait until after my aunt's neurologist appointment next week.
If I send it in, chances are she'd get a road test, which she would almost certainly fail. Goodie. It's not a private form, but I really don't care if she knows I did it. She lied about not driving anymore.

Well, not owning a car won't cancel her driver's license. Perhaps it depends on how likely you think she is to borrow a car again?
No way in fuck my uncle lets her drive his car. He never let her even before this. No one else in the family would lend her one; we all don't want her to drive. Her friends are too far away to worry about and they probably wouldn't either.
So I'm not concerned personally. If my uncle would let her use his car I would be more worried about that, but he never has.

Edit: Just got more info. Apparently my uncle ended up behind her while she was driving one day and didn't like what he saw. He was the one who had convinced her to get another car because he didn't want to drive her around everywhere. But he's on our side now and he convinced her to give it up. Took him long enough.

Hello ladies (and those that don't fit that description), I just wanted to wish you a happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here which can be both fun and chaotic. The important thing is to remember that life is fleeting and to accept every second as it comes. Enjoy the moment (or just try to get through it if you are going through a rough time). Every day is another day that the world can get better.
I'm glad she's no longer on the road and that your uncle agrees with that. I think we had to go the DMV route with my family member because they had too many cars around.
