I'd imagine it'll get a liitle better. Shortage will still be a bitch, but there's not going to be miners poaching cards and the scalper market will be much smaller without said miners. This is great news. Now if stock availability would just go up.....
Probably not, there has been plays to keep Eth under 3K but it won't last long, once it's on track to 4K again, people will rush to scoop up GPU's to mine on.
In the process of selling my PC because my GPU died.
Would love if there was an affordable way to keep it alive.
No.
Half a year from now I'd say.How soon can I buy a 3080 without being forced to sell my car to afford it?
I've never seen the abbreviation GPU mean anything other than graphics processing unitThought that meant game pass ultimate and immediately got confused when opening the thread.
AMD has also ramped up production it seems. It's become easier to get a card from their site in Europe, their shitty webstore notwithstanding. With the mining boom coming to an end and the Ti's launch, I definitely have seen where people have had an easier time getting their hands on GPUs in the past week than the past 8 months.
Normally I would agree, but coming off of e3 and everything on Gamepass and all the acronyms being thrown around it was a temporary lapse.I've never seen the abbreviation GPU mean anything other than graphics processing unit
This. This shitshow won't end any time soon.Don't count on it, China crackdown on crypto miners will push them to other regions, the high demand for GPUs will continue
That might be true but it still scares me. I'm also not sure what the warranty situation is at the point either.Cryptominers tend to undervolt and/or underclock their cards, since it typically improves hash per watt than the stock configuration. Only real issue with used mining cards tends to be fan failure, but that's usually an easy fix.
how about 10 easy payments of $100 upfront
Scalper pricing. Specifically, eBay listings that sold.uh is this based on scalper prices or store prices? cause availability is still messed up
China's crackdown on BTC miners have about zero effect on GPU availability.
But in general, miners will be hoarding hardware resources for mining irrespective of short term hits to that market (like the one caused by china cracking down). Cryptomining is still on the rise and will be for the foreseeable future unfortunately.China's crackdown on BTC miners have about zero effect on GPU availability.
You can't mine Bitcoin on GPUs.
When it comes to GPUs it's winding down already and will likely get back to before 2017 state in half a year, after ETH 2.0 release. But in general, miners will be hoarding hardware resources for mining irrespective of short term hits to that market (like the one caused by china cracking down). I really hope so, but I have a terrible feeling it will drag on longer than that. When it comes to GPUs it's winding down already and will likely get back to before 2017 state in half a year, after ETH 2.0 release.
I don't think it will. In fact it will likely lead to another crypto hangover with loads of 30 series cards being sold on 2nd hand market for 1/3 of their actual MSRPs. Retail won't be able to hold onto the current prices due to that either. I also kinda wonder if Nvidia expects that and this is the reason why they are likely to skip 2022 and wait till 2023 before launching next gen of GPUs.I really hope so, but I have a terrible feeling it will drag on longer than that.
Someone tell Microcenter. I'm tired of looking at $1k 6700XTs.
Will Nvidia and AMD just set MSRPs sky high after seeing that the market is willing to pay these prices?
I don't expect a drop in demand for the AMD cards. I doubt we'll see the 6xxx series ever really in stock. But the drop in crypto, lack of demand for scalped cards (hopefully), and LHR cards on top of that, might help the 3xxx series Nvidia cards availability.
Honestly this kinda freaks me out when it comes to future pricing. Will Nvidia and AMD just set MSRPs sky high after seeing that the market is willing to pay these prices?
