Sorry that others are facing issues but i am playing this smoothly on a 8700k / 3440X1400p on balanced settings with some at ultra @ 50-60fps. No crashes or such yet.

3900x/2080Ti/32GB DDR4/1440p

Set the game to DX12, maxed out everything but the MSAA options, set TAA to medium and injected sharpening (35%) via the nvidia control panel.
No stuttering, getting 48-80 fps in the "tutorial" snow section and 65-80 fps in the Benchmark in the city.
That's at least playable with FreeSync/Gsync.

No crashes, no problems with the launcher so far.

I have to say one thing about the game: The lighting can be unreal

Seems an emergency patch is coming. I sure as hell don't want to be the poor developers trying to figure it out. I've been in similar situations myself a few times in my career and I can say that the pressure to get it fixed and deployed as quickly as possible is quite immense.

This is a demanding one for sure.

3440x1440p, mixture of High with some Ultra and cannot keep a steady 60 FPS with a 3900x and 1080Ti

Can't wait for the Digital Foundry deep dive to come out.

Need to figure out which settings can be dropped without too much quality loss. There are a lot of them to test.

Ugh, reading all this from work is so disheartening. I'm sure I'll be one of the ones whose launcher crashes lol. Gonna have to practice some positive visualization until I get home.

I really hope it fixes the Launcher crashes. It's the first game in years that i can't play a PC game because of a problem.

How are the 2080ti owners doing out there. What kind of performance are you getting?

3440x1440 everything set to Ultra no MSAA, got about 55ish frames in that opening sequence, the new fixes for Nvidia Ultra Low Latency/G-Sync stuff is probably helping me have a smoother frame-time because it doesn't feel janky at all.

What is your hardware?
i have a I7 6700 and a 1080.

9700k, 2080 Ti and RDR 2 is installed on an NVME SSD.

Sorry for your misery, but you are making me feel better about holding off to the December Steam launch. I hope they patch some of these issues.

Not that it changes waiting for a patch, but in case you didn't know, the Steam release will still be just like uPlay games, wherein the Steam version just launches the Rockstar Launcher, then the game from that launcher.

Same as GTA V. I know. I have Jedi Fallen Order and WOW Classic to hold me over. It gives them a month to hopefully patch a few things that some of the posters here encountered.

Settings are the default balanced preset with resolution scaling on about 75% from 1440p. Works perfect for me, with the TAA it looks about as blurry as my ps4 PRO version did. Might be a bit more aliasing, but this seemingly giving me locked 60fps? hell yeah. Only issue is that there seems to be something off with the texture streaming. Textures are on ultra but definetly didn't look as good as ps4 textures do.

I basically copied what you did since we have pretty identical setups (I have a 7700K though but still a 1070 and 16GB RAM)

Played the first 2 missions and it ran pretty ok. Was over 60 FPS but there was the occasional dip usually when it's snowing. It does have that feeling where it's not entirely smooth even at over 60 though. When in buildings it seems like it wants to hitch a tad bit when you'd think those parts would be the easiest to be smooth. I was hoping to play the game with settings a bit higher than just the middle of the road "Balanced" but once I saw that NVIDIA article saying what cards are needed for what I knew that wasn't gonna happen. I want to get a 2070 SUPER but that's not gonna happen for a while so I'll just have to make this work.

I'll play some more later and see how the next missions perform and then get to the next area to see how the game does outside of the snow.

Hopefully by the time it launches on Steam the performance issues are ironed out. Can't wait

I mean it's running really well for me so far. Mix of med-high-ultra. 1080p.

Getting mostly ~70-80fps so far. Once it gets to 80fps, it starts to cap out for some reason while GPU usage is 70% and CPU usage is 50%. Not exactly sure where the bottleneck is here. Could be my CPU.

Overclocking my CPU from 4 -> 4.6GHz resulted in a 15% increase in max framerates in the benchmark, so surely my CPU is capping me at high framerates. Not sure why the usage is low though.

Benchmark results are ....

Intel 9700K (Stock)
16GB DDR4 (XMP, cant remember the speed, 3000+ or something)
GeForce 1080 FE (Stock)
1TB M.2 SSD

Fullscreen, 1080p, all v-sync stuff turned off, set the overall slider to the maximum.

2019-11-05vfjuz.png

The min and max seems way off, not once did I see it go that low or high during the actual benchmark, only when the screen goes black and it transitions to the next screen. I typically saw 45-50 FPS when actually running the game, as it shows here.

Glad I didn't have time to play/double dip this - it looks like a bit of a mess at the moment. I'm swamped in games that I'm trying to finish, including The Outer Worlds on PC. Death Stranding is right around the corner and I already played RDR2 for 100+ hours. I'll definitely grab this PC version next year when things are ironed out and it's been longer since I played the game.

I think the ultra settings are just for future proofing. Volumetric lighting and stuff are insane and I don't think we're supposed to crank them up all the way. Play on high and the game will still look stunning.

I'm playing at 4K with locked 60fps at some medium but mostly high settings except textures on ultra.

Someone reported on the Ultrawidemasterrace subreddit that on 32:9 resolutions the aiming reticle is not drawn where it is supposed to be. Meanwhile cutscenes get letterboxed AND pillarboxed on all ultrawides.

If this isn't the worst launch of the year I don't know what is.

Anyone tried 4k high on a 2080 Ti? All I can find on Youtube is a billion videos showing ultra settings including all the advanced settings maxed.

Nvidia wasn't kidding when they said med-high is 60ish fps at 4K. Beginning snow area is nice but then once you go to the forest area it gets really taxing. There's so many graphical options I haven't experiment which one is killing fps. I'm hoping there's one or two setting that once turned down will greatly increase performance.

Worse thing is the damn launcher redownloads all the Visual Basic direct x files after I remove and have them installed

After work, I'll run this first to gauge performance before I update GeForce drivers. If something fails to load or perform correctly, I'll at the very least know if it's the drivers or not.

Geez, having a really annoying bug. I can run the benchmark once, but then subsequent attempts to run the benchmark just boots me to the main menu. I have to restart the game to run the benchmark again.

Well damn. Game can barely run stable with high-end components, what hopes do I have with the budget PC I'm currently building. Ryzen 5 2600 + GTX 1660 ti or RX 590, depending which of the two I could get them for cheap during black friday. 720p resolution here I gooooo :(

I'm not a PC gamer, but I'm curious if anyone has played it on a Predator Helios 300, 2019 model (9759H / 1660 Ti).

How does it perform at 1080p and beyond?

Game is running fine. Have textures on ultra and everything else on high. Getting 60+ FPS consistently in 1440

I had the same thing happen while trying to test FXAA vs. TAA. FXAA flat out wouldn't load for me. TAA is blurry, but the jaggies are really bad in foliage and there are angled lines all over the buildings, rocks, etc., so I pretty much have to roll with it.

Was funny this time when I clicked play it took longer to display error message than usual so I actually thought it was working. Idk why I keep trying.

Will patiently wait for a sale since I already played it on a XBX

But seriously, anyone with a 1070 / 1080 SHOULD run the game @ 4k/60fps with the same presets as the XBX.

I guess consoles settings are a mix of low/medium whereas pc high/ultra have been designed to be futureproof I suppose.

Looks like there's some glitch online. Empty sessions run super smoothly but as soon as you've got some people, you're stuck at 30 fps. Happens to my friends too.

Fuck it, not gonna push my luck when i play it, with my 2080, just gonna do medium at 1080p and hopefully have 60fps at all times.

I just realized that Water Physics hits performances hard, really hard. It lowers my FPS 50% when it is maxed out for example.

My pause/settings menu is broken and unusable pretty much all the time once I've loaded into the story. Half of it just gets cut off and unrendered and is flickering. Very annoying.
