Take-Two Interactive is upping its full-year guidance for the 2020 fiscal year after a Q1 buoyed by recurrent spending successes.

The company's total net revenue for Q1 reached $540 million, with net bookings reaching $422 million. That latter is up 46% year-over-year, and well-above the previous outlook for the quarter of between $310 and $360 million.

67% of the total net bookings came from recurrent consumer spending, which overall grew 55% year-over-year. And digitally-delivered net bookings grew as well, up to $382 million, accounting for 91% of total net bookings.

Much of that was due to GTA Online, a constant earner for Take-Two that saw even greater success this quarter due to the release of the Diamond Casino and Resort, which was the game's biggest launch ever, bringing in record daily, weekly, and monthly active users. It's also worth noting that the base game, GTA V, has tipped over 110 million copies now.

Speaking of unit sales milestones, NBA 2K19 has sold nearly 12 million units, and Take-Two is projecting that its lifetime net bookings will be the highest ever for a 2K sports title. Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold around 25 million units, and Civilization VI, the fastest-selling title in the series, has sold over 5.5 million units.

And those 25 million sales were mostly at full price or $40 at most, holy shit. Rockstar really hit the lottery.

Very good sales, and I was one of them. However, Red Dead 2 really soured me on rockstar games and I will need an arcadey GTA to get me back in.

Even though RDR2 didn't meet my expectations at all... I'm still very happy it sold so well. Good for rockstar

Oh for fucks sakes lmao.

Is that why it was praised so highly or were reviewers bought off?

I think it's one of those issues where it's difficult to ignore its technical excellence, endless innovations, top-tier graphics, amazing acting and score, fantastic storytelling, vast gameplay variety, etc.. as a professional reviewer.

But then the average consumer picked it up and went "Oh, but I'm not having fun" and moved on with their lives.

It's like the textbook game for professional critic / average consumer dissonance.

I've said it before: People were disappointed with RDR2 and the effusive enthusiasm for it was just out of insecurity over that disappointment. "I wanted to like this so badly I better force myself to like it and say good things about it! Even though I'd rather be playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey..."

Oh please, if it wasn't for God of War RDR 2 would be the most awardaded game of 2018.

What qualifications do you need to speak on behalf of 25 million people? Just curious.

I've made back my money from Take Two stock about 5x over. Great for them and me on the long road to recovery and beyond.

I've enjoyed RDR2 like no other game this generation - in fact, I've finished it three times since it released, and I really had to power through the first 10 hours after I returned to AC:Odyssey (which I stopped playing for RDR2), even though AC:Odyssey is a very good game.

So... no.

I wish I had your free time. Three full playthroughs of RDR2 is like, what, 60 hours of pressing a button and waiting for your character to react?

Great to hear Civ 6 is doing well. Pls announce a third expansion though, we're still not at BNW levels.

Lol wut. 28% of people have finished the epilogue in PS4 (main story is even higher)

That's in line with most open world games. Even a much shorter game like Horizon Zero Dawn has only 7% more than Red Dead. That's a lot of people playing 60 hours of a game "they don't like"

Nice.

RDR2 is my 2nd favorite game of the gen right behind Botw. Needs to hit 50 million sold! One of the goats. And the best looking game this gen by faaar.

Please dont take too long with RDR3.

Yeah, 28% is actually pretty good given how long the game is and how apparently uNpLaYaBLe and NoT fUn it is according to some people here.

Also could this 30% from Rockstar mean PC release of RDR2? :D Or it is just GTA Online MTX XD

Additionally, on the strength of its Q1 and predictions for its upcoming new releases, Take-Two has upped its full-year guidance to between $2.6 billion and $2.7 billion, up from between $2.5 billion and $2.6 billion originally projected. It expects the breakdown of net bookings to be roughly 60% 2K Games, 30% Rockstar Games, and 10% Private Division, Social Point, and other sources.

Its really easy to find out, just look at the trophies/achievements lol

But tbh the great majority of games have less than 50%.

For the "enjoyed" part, tons of people are still playing it and it's one of the most played games currently atleast on consoles.

25 Million Units for RDR2 is just insane. Rockstar is untouchable.
PC and next gen versions are not even out yet, game is going to sell like crazy for a long while.

I really want to know if Take Two wants to continue their support for Switch. It's a weird habit of most western, especially American publishers: Have great profits on games released on Nintendo consoles but mysteriously drop the console afterwards. Currently they only have NBA as a future standalone game (The Outer World IP belongs to Obisidan and they fund the port themselves so it doesn't count).

They could make quick huge bucks by porting couple of last gen games to Switch. I mean, who wouldn'T buy Borderlands or Bioshock collection on Switch.

Are you going to really argue against the fact that the general consensus of this game is not reflective of its' critical reception? People are not talking about this game the way people talk about Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, or God of War. It's much more controversial. I don't think that can be argued.

The general consensus? What are you talking about?

There's a reason why the GOTY polls were always so heated between RDR2 and GOW.
