Can anyone recommend me an affordable 144hz monitor? Recently bought a PC but I realised my current monitor is only 75hz and I want to go higher. I saw some cheap Benq ones on amazon, are they okay? I don't especially care about 4k resolutions but I'll take one if it's affordable for productivity stuff.

I'm in the UK, so ideally one that I could buy locally.

Acer Predator XB241H. Has G-Sync and 144hz that you can overclock to 180hz.

OP you should specify also if you want FreeSync/Gsync (do you have an AMD or Nvidia graphics card, if you have a graphics card)

I've an RTX 2060 so I'll be paying attention to this thread too đź‘€

If you have a 2060 if you're bothering with higher refresh rates you might as well go Gsync or Freesync. I wouldn't bother with 4k at all.

I haven't paid attention to specific monitors in a while so can't really help there, but unless you're just playing DOTA and Counterstrike GO, going 144hz on a 2060, you might as well make the leap to freesync or gsync.

Hm, how about this one?

ASUS VG258QR 25 Inch (24.5 Inch) FHD (1920 x 1080) Esports Gaming Monitor, 0.5 ms, Up to 165 Hz, DP, HDMI, DVI-D, Super Narrow Bezel, FreeSync, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Buy ASUS VG258QR 25 Inch (24.5 Inch) FHD (1920 x 1080) Esports Gaming Monitor, 0.5 ms, Up to 165 Hz, DP, HDMI, DVI-D, Super Narrow Bezel, FreeSync, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free at Amazon UK. Free delivery and return on eligible orders.

I'm looking at the 165 hz one since the others appear out of stock. It says 165hz, 1080p, and g-sync support. Is there anything missing I should know? Might buy that one if someone doesn't tell me something awful about it.

It's okay in a sense that it'll do it's job. But otherwise this is a low end monitor with TN panel and adaptive sync.

Similar. Note that in both cases you will have to use DisplayPort for adaptive sync to work on a 2060.

So I've tried looking at PCPartpicker and looking under the 250 pound range and didn't really find anything too eye-popping.
Saw this under 200 and from my understanding uses a variant of the panel my current monitor uses while having being G-Sync compatible difference is that this goes up to 165hz while mine goes up to 144hz. I'll assume anything over 144 will degrade image quality.

Tried looking more into G-Sync compatible monitors but honestly couldn't find absolute recommend one

AOC 24G2. Do pay attention to the exact name. From what I can tell, the 24G2U is the same monitor with a USB hub while the 24G2U5 is a completely different and much inferior panel.

The struggle.....everyone will recommend products that either arent available in the UK or cost a million times more UK side.

Im in the same bind.....you are lucky screen size doesnt matter for you.
I need a min spec of 144Hz, 28 inches and 1440p.

But during my research I did come across a couple monitors that might fit your bill.

AOC C24G1 - Its a VA panel so slower than TN but better colors

Asus VG248QG - TN panel....colors wont be great but speed will be awesome.

AOC 24G2 - IPS panel so colors are absolutely amazing.

I can recommend a MSI MAG241CR, it's 24", VA and runs fine in G-Sync compatible mode with my GTX 1070 but there may be better panels out there by now. I love mine though!

I came from a 60Hz Tn Samsung to the AOC 24G2U. It's a 144hz IPS monitor. And I can only say that I recommend it.

Just take a look à PCmonitors review. It's a amazing value avaible on UK. Mine costed 150€ on Black Friday. Was lucky but normally it's a 199€ monitor.

I have an Acer KG251Q. It was washed out when I bought it, but with some tinkering it is a good looking monitor.

I was running the same search OP, but what I discovered was you can find a solid 1440p monitor for roughly the same price as a 1080p if you dig deep enough

Found an excellent MSI 27" 1440p monitor on Newegg for $280. Might as well go all the way. A 2060 is maybe not the greatest card for that res, but it's holding up well on my end.

I experienced 144hz for a week playing warzone and I can't go back to my shitty 60hz monitor now.

I couldn't find a good budget 1440p montior I keep reading the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 27 and the LG 27gl850 are the best.

I'm about to pick up the asus I think because I found it for 599$ the lg is 500 here in the states right now as well at Best buy.

Just bought an Acer XFA240 a few weeks ago and it's been serving me really well. My trusty GTX 1060 sounds like it's going to explode when I play Modern Warfare but the monitor's doing fine!

My 2080 super sounds like it's gonna explode playing MW I don't know what it is about that game. I ended up cranking my fans becuase I'm afraid the games gonna damage my pc.

I have it, I bought it new some time ago for 160 Euro.
It works with G-sync and Freesync (I tested both - Radeon™ FreeSync Refresh Rate - 48 to 144 Hz reported by display).

There is some misinformation about this display on the internet, I think it's good enought for the money it costs.
Surely there are better displays, but I don't think at that price.

EDIT:
Mhhh, I looked better and it seems I have the 25x. So...

Pay attention to what kind of panel you're getting. IPS panels are significantly more expensive than TN or VA panels.

YMMV on affordable (€299), but I've had great experiences with the Samsung CRG5. 27" 1080p VA panel and supports up to 240Hz.

Yep!

Got it myself and ordered another one for my parents when i saw it for 20€ off on Amazon with 1-2 months delivery after it took a lot of effort to even be quick enough getting mine for 190€. Thing sells out lightning fast here in Germany.

As to why is basically covered in the this Hardware Unboxed video. It destroys the other 144Hz IPS panels in price and/or quality.

Good to know! Any recommendations for something ideally sub-$350?

I think it's pretty hard to find 1440p 144hz for a good price right now. I picked up 2 of these recently (for $260 each), but they're out of stock and a lot of the moderately priced monitors with those specs are out of stock as well.

I'd recommend looking at rtings.com for good monitor ideas.

Not to hijack the thread OP, but if anyone can recommend a great 1440p/2k monitor I'd be very grateful.

My budget is around ÂŁ300 but I can stretch to ÂŁ350 if needs be!

Aoc 24g2 is the one to get. It is the best 1080p monitor on the market period and it is very affordable at like 180usd. Dont get anything else, it will be way worse.

Maybe the frame rate is unlocked? If it's running very high it could be needlessly pushing the card.

Cap the FPS or if you're using G-Sync/FreeSync turn V-Sync on via you're GPU tools.

Got the AOC 24G2 for $145 last year(cheaper because VA panel tho instead of IPS), no complaints for the price, perfect stop gap for upgrade in a year or so. Would have got the IPS but it was out of stock and I couldnt wait.

For those in the US, Newegg has the ASUS VG278Q 27" 1920 x 1080 144Hz 1ms monitor for $199.99. It is G-Sync compatible.

For those looking for a good 2K/144Hz monitor, I can't recommend the Acer Predator XB271HU enough. You can get it on sale for $450, but normally it's within the $500 range. Totally worth it.

Just go 240hz if you're staying 1080p.

IMO, anything larger than 24" for 1080p looks bad for non-gaming use.

If you want cheaper, I also had this and did not notice an appreciable difference to the much pricier BenQ:

Amazon.com: Acer XF250Q Cbmiiprx 24.5" Full HD (1920 x 1080) Zero Frame TN Gaming AMD FreeSync Compatible Monitor - 1ms | 240Hz Refresh (Display, HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4 ports),Black: Computers & Accessories

For a 2060 I'd recommend a 1080p IPS panel.

AOC 24G2
Acer VG240Y (make sure it's the 144hz model)
Asus VP249QGR

The AOC has a good stand. The others have crap stands, but are vesa mountable. I've got the Acer and love it.

I have this one, it fucks. Same size bezels on all side (even bottom), actual G-Sync module, easy 180hz OC, built in blue light filter toggle for games that block f.lux/Night Light (Destiny 2), fast refresh TN panel. Everything you want from a gaming monitor.

I would go for 27" personally these days though.
1080p at 27" is fucking nasty. It's barely passable at 24/25". I wish we had more modern 22" G-Sync panels.
