Really surprised that no PS4 price drops have been announced

But I was really expecting to hear Pro $299 and Slim $199.

Yep I can see this happening.

Do a temp cut during the holidays and then a perma cut next year.

Why discontinue the Pro? Wouldn't the Pro become the defacto PS4? Maybe a Pro "Slim" and drop the price significantly?

I believe if their idea is to support the ps4 for a couple more years they need to do a significant price reduction. Maybe discontinue the pro SKU as the power user is more likely to go for a ps5 now.

Going forward the used market will have lots of ps4 available to offset the cost of a ps5 upgrade. Sony will be competing against that as well. So selling a new ps4 for 250 usd makes no sense. It needs to be 150 usd to get into the impulse buy therritory.

Crazy when you think about it.
Since the launch of the PS4 it has remained at $399 even with the Pro.

They'll come after the PS5 comes out. I wouldn't be surprised if another hw refresh is happening in the near future to drive build costs for the PS4 down
