Maybe it is due to their suppliers trying to crank out as many PS5 as possible.

But I was really expecting to hear Pro $299 and Slim $199.

They literally can't keep it in stock at the moment (at least in Australia).

They will do a Black Friday/Holiday bundle/price that will stick as the new price following. Wouldn't be surprised if the Pro is discontinued

The pandemic has destroyed stock and Sony didn't drop PS3 price again after 2011, aside from 12GB super slim which was 2012 I think

You don't cut the price of an item selling well.

This is Sales 101.

They have FIFA bundles coming out next month that they probably want to sell with the current price. But I can see a permanent price cut during Black Friday.

I wonder if recent news about Sony's PS4 support means it'll actually get close to PS2 overall sales?
They just need a price drop for that to happen, honestly...

Also everything is selling pretty good due to lockdowns and social distancing. They would have definitely been slower at this time in a normal year.

I believe if their idea is to support the ps4 for a couple more years they need to do a significant price reduction. Maybe discontinue the pro SKU as the power user is more likely to go for a ps5 now.

Going forward the used market will have lots of ps4 available to offset the cost of a ps5 upgrade. Sony will be competing against that as well. So selling a new ps4 for 250 usd makes no sense. It needs to be 150 usd to get into the impulse buy therritory.

Not until next year I think, the PS5 releases November 12th and a couple of weeks later they can just do that $199 PS4 deal they do the last couple Black Fridays.

My friend struggled to buy a used PS4 because all the sellers in our area were trying to sell for near-new pricing. This thing is still a beast in sales and in high demand.

That the Pro has maintained its pricing for 4 years outside of the odd timed promotion is amazing.

They'll come after the PS5 comes out. I wouldn't be surprised if another hw refresh is happening in the near future to drive build costs for the PS4 down

certainly will. might not be tremendous yet though as long as PS5 stock is gone.
