Meanwhile in real America there would have been 50 God fearing freedom fighters just itching at their trigger fingers to shoot that mother fucker where he stood😂😂.

Really the fact all these people that know he murdered their friends and family were ready to watch him do it again was stupid. No one thought to attack him from behind?

And he gives up and cries when Wade wins?

Yeah it was dumb. Fun film but that whole part was dumb.

I don't think you understood the corporation-run VR obsessed dystopia the movie is set in, and which much of the plot revolves around.

I wasn't a huge fan of the book but I was surprised that I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was a hell of a lot better than Jumanji which I watched the prior evening.

Part of me thinks the movie's plot is actually meta commentary on how ludicrous things could get in 80s Amblin-type/knockoff movies.

I didn't read the book and the movie was so so stupid but somehow I managed to be mildly entertained by it.

But man nothing tops Ernest Cline's nerd porn poem...

Haven't read the book, but did it just give up entirely at the end like the movie did? Cause yeah, movie was thoroughly bad throughout, but the last 20 minutes or so were beyond shit even after I had long turned my brain off.

It doesn't take itself seriously and it shouldn't. If it did, it would've been worse I think. So it was a catch-22 in that sense.

It was just so corny in many regards. I loved the celebration of "nerd culture" (rolling my eyes as I type that), but it was so by-the-numbers, and lays itself on too thick.

The movie was alright, but the tone of it seemed so odd and that part highlighted it for me because it just made it seem like a Disney Channel kids movie.

I think it helped I went in with very low expectations and ended up being pleasantly surprised, but I wish more of the movie was like the

Replace opening scene with climax and I 100% agree. While the story was... absolutely embarrassing and they cut my favorite scene from the book (the extended 2112 sequence that had nothing to do with anything), I loved the movie. I expected the movie to knock it out of the park after the similarly great The Post, and it delivered. Spielberg still has it!

To make it even sweeter, they added Harley Quinn to the movie! That was rad ^^

It's a dystopian version of a trailer park rumoured to contain meth labs (what was blamed for the explosion), and on seeing the super-rich out-of-his-depth guy who killed your friends and family, not one of them had a gun? It took me out of the movie when it happened.

Yeah this movie is basically a gone-bad soup of half-assed ideas. Spielberg seems to really enjoy wasting his time doing drivel these days.

It was an entertaining popcorn movie with good visuals, mediocre acting, and plot. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Shooting happen all the time in America, there isn't suddenly an army of armed americans there to stop it, people usually run the fuck away screaming. If anything what was nonsense was how everyone just stood there as a dude was shooting and stuck around to see what happens next.
