Gerald's Game (Netflix) - Hand scene was too gory.

Glass - Twisty McTwisterton's at it again.

Whitney - Now I just feel sad.

The House that Jack Built.

Lars Von Trier. Pretentious prick.

Nobody with that much natural charisma is that awkward in front of people. I didn't believe it.
As someone who used to have crippling social anxiety, I was 100% sold. Emotionally vulnerable people, especially children who have yet to grow into their sense of self and develop callouses around their ego, can go from charismatic livewires to wilting violets depending on their setting and company.

People aren't just charismatic, just shy, just confident, just unsure. We can shift from one mode to the next, or several at the same time--and that's an oversimplification of what it is to be a human, with an inner life and personal qualities that exist in flux and are often at war with themselves.

One reason 8th Grade is so good is the star captures this emotional complexity so naturalistically that it's easy to forget she's acting.

What a terrible, terrible opinion. You obviously haven't been around people that age in the US. It was the most authentic portrayal I have ever seen. So much so that it was genuinely hard to tell at times whether she was acting or just being filmed secretly. As for the cringe part, it's SUPPOSED to induce that. Don't know why I bothered replying to you even, but I just couldn't read something so purely false without chiming in.

And how long ago was this, if you don't mind me asking? Kids today are very different now. I spend a lot of time around those age groups due to my job/family and I assure you, the movie summed them up pretty well. You may have noticed that you're an outlier with that opinion about her being "unrealistic," because she really isn't, regardless of what you experienced in your public school.
