Really disappointed, don't care for these characters at all, but it's good there are more females, and I know there are fans of Xenoblade, so congrats to them I guess.

I'm glad that we are getting a new rep from the Xeno series and it's a female, two females but man, maybe next Xeno game they could hire a character designer who is not a hentai artist?
The people you quoted are literally calling out the designs, and are not engaging with people minding their own business being happy that a character they like got picked.

Excuse me? When did I say anything even remotely close to telling you to shut up and leave? You are obviously free to want anything that you want in games and to voice that as much as you want. And I will continue to want what I want, which is for characters in games to be less sexually objectified. Rex is the only character design that sucked in my opinion.

I expected them to lead off with Smash so as soon the trailer started and I spotted the "not actual gameplay footage" blurb (a hallmark of Smash Bros. trailers) I knew what was up. What I did not expect, however, was Sakurai pulling Rex's goofy ass by his pants and shoving him into a locker. Wow. Amazing.
I greatly enjoyed Xenoblade 2 so I'm pretty pleased with this choice. Monolith has become an important part of Nintendo so it's only fair they get another slot (or two??) in this crossover.

These are my feelings as well. As a black woman I want good characters who interesting from a gameplay aspect. Not characters pick to fill some POC quarter so people online can feel good over inclusiveness. It honestly boarders on insulting. Like someone like Twinelle is fine, although she isn't my personal favorite, because she brings the ARMS' fighting style and is part of the roster. Stop picking some random POC and say they need to get in for 'diversity'. You're honestly not helping.
Especially when a woman is picked, we get the 'wrong one' conversation.

I'm a bit curious too. While it's likely just a bit of fun, it's odd they went out of their way to bring back Shulk's VA just for a small bit part in a trailer which wasn't really needed. Wonder if he's getting a minor update like Cloud did with Sephiroth.
I've seen more than enough people use "you see, the crystal that is coincidentally on her chest is important, that's why it was super important for the camera to focus on her boobs in this scene" to defend some of the shots in the game.
Man, I hope I can stomach the embarassment of using this character because they have a lot going for them in terms of gameplay.

I'll let you in on a secret, many of your favourite manga illustrators have drawn hentai at some point. I don't really get this stigma people have with artists that have drawn adult content, why should that exclude them from doing non-adult work?

For Min Min's trailer, they got Captain Falcon's voice actor back just to record him slurping on noodles. Getting Shulk's voice actor back to record a few lines seems completely normal in comparison.

Yep, this. It's always such a complicated conversation, because a) no, there is 100% nothing wrong with characters having large breasts, because people absolutely do, BUT b) is there absurd breast jiggle? How sexualized is the rest of the character's design? What kind of camera angles are used when the character is on screen, and are they objectifying and or focusing on the character's breasts?
(Ironically, the quickest reference I could find of this moment was a very large screengrab, sigh.)
I genuinely really like both Pyra and Mythra as characters (love their English VAs, too, they did great work with the Smash trailer), but I still get frustrated over aspects of their designs and how Pyra in particular is objectified in-game.
There's a difference between being an artist who draws hentai and being a hentai specialist without an off switch.
I mean, I'm sure there are plenty criticisms people can make of her design, you can see in this thread and the other thread dedicated to it, I just find the argument that they're not realistic kind of moot since that doesn't seem to be the intention.
