Cause one mistake will fuck up all your previous work. Hunched over like i was decoding the nerconomicon and shit, good lord why it got to be like this?

Second thought I upgraded to tempered glass from plastic and good lord my screen looks a thousand times better. I don't know if there was dirt of the plastic or something but man it is night and day

Yup, I've tried multiple times with my phone and my switch and I just cant do it. Any imperfection stands out like a sore thumb and I can't stand it, so I don't use them.

I like using the hot shower technique: Start a hot shower, let the bathroom get really steamy, then apply the screen protector. Helps reduce the amount of dust in the air and under the screen protector.

And yes glass is wayyyy better than plastic.

the trick is to do it in the bathroom after a hot shower for max humidty. All the water in the air will catch the dust particles

Plastic screen protectors sucked, but with tempered ones I have no problems.
If you have something stuck under the screen, just lift it up carefully and use some scotch tape.
If you want to be in a dust free environment, do it in your bathroom (if you really want to be crazy you can take a shower before to have the dust settle).

With protectors just be patient and always look on the screen from all angles.

Yep, as bad as it is to misalign the camera slot or button section, worst is when you actually get it on well, hardly any bumps or air pockets, turn device on and BOOM, hair or dust right in the middle.
Then you think it's fine, hardly noticeable but you spend the next day consistently being annoyed by it till you give up and do it again...

That's how I felt with Orzly screen protector for the switch but since then, I've applied a lot of screen protectors, and I can do it no problem.

The hot shower trick is gold.

Whenever I get a new phone, I just have the salesperson do it, and I've never had an issue.

The one on my Switch I did myself, and it's ever-so-slightly crooked, along with a small air bubble on the right bezel.

Lol I turn my room into a clean lab when I do them. Fans off so dust isnt blowing around, extra lamps, wipe down surfaces.

One time I aligned one PERFECTLY, no air bubbles, no dust, just perfect, and then accidently ripped the whole thing off instead of just peeling the top layer. I was PISSED.

I feel like more recent ones have been way better than past ones, especially now they come with a million little cleaning cloths and cleaning stickers and stuff. The last one I did for my girlfriend also had this weird gel stuff you put under the edges at the end, was cool.

Also nothing more satisfying than lining up a glass protector juuuuuuust right, watching it adhere and all the air get slowly pushed out.

You make sure you wipe your phone clean of dust and then apply the protector and notice a speck of dust still made it through...

I'm pretty good at applying them on phones, but on a tablet it's so damned impossible.

the apple store has these nifty devices that make installing the screen protectors trivial

I apply rubber stencils to polished granite all the time for headstones and it is super technical. As soon as your stencil touches that granite, it better be on right or you pretty much have to start over with a brand new stencil. I maybe mess up once a year. Any time I try to do the same thing with a screen protector I mess up every single time. The last time I tried, I had a bought a 5 pack of screen protectors and I burned through all of them. The fifth one went on ok, but if I had more, I probably would have kept trying.

I successfully thwarted one launch when I screen-protected my Switch.

I apologize to whomever I killed fucking up my Kindle Fire attempt.

I like my phones the same way I came into this world, naked.

-Stolen from dude I heard say that in the Sprint store a few years ago.

At my office, I'm the one that has to do this for everyone's phone, it's annoying. In my personal life, I never put a protector on my screen. For what? I can rub my keys over my screen and it's perfectly fine. I assume anything I do that can damage the screen would still be bad enough to damage it with a screen protectors on.

Tempered glass makes this easy, no real effort required even in my dusty ass home. I put them on all my devices, old and new (except for laptops and ipads).

But the old film-style protectors can get fucked.

I used to feel that way until I used Hori screen protectors. Those go on so easily with how they setup the application. I've done multiple Switch, 3DS, DS, PSP and Vita systems and all went perfect. Too bad they only do game systems.

So you can just smash it with a hammer? Nukes are pretty fragile, their warheads require precise timing on the components to actually hit critical mass. That's why slamming an interceptor missile into one won't cause much of an explosion.

The UV/OCA solutions make it super easy now.

Alignment isn't an issue, no air bubbles due to dust or w/e, just a much pricier option.

The only kind I'm at all confident is doing is putting the glass shield on my Fossil gen 5. Anything larger than that is a 50/50 shot on whether I ruin the one I'm trying to apply.

With plastic films, I used to go to the bathroom, put on the hot shower to get it all steamy and that would facilitate installation. For the tempered glass protectors, as long as no particle falls on the surface it's a simple drop and press affair.

I always buy another pack cuz of how bad I am with them. I always had issue with my curved screen though and my phone case, it seems to not fit well together and eventually causes me to replace the cover.

I'm pretty sure this is why they always sell them in sets three lol takes me a few tries to get it right. I am good at getting it straight but I always end up with some bubbles

Tempered glass is amazing, I won't settle for less. It's just as good as the regular screen

I've been staring at an eyelash hair from the woman at the Verizon store for the last 3 years.

I don't dare try and fix it.
