Yea the game is something special. You wanna work on getting rid of the blinders OP. Then lock cockpit to pilot 😉
"Headset settings VR" set it to off. Small and large are the blinders. How do you turn off the blinders? I couldn't figure out which setting it is
Yeah it really is unbelievable in VR! Anyone know sales numbers to gauge the chance for a successor? Man, a new VR WipEout on PS5 would be insane!
As someone that suffered a day of VR sickness in the Oculus DK1 demo, I was very wary of Wipeout VR.
I've been playing WipEout since the 2097 days and I prefer dpad. Nothing wrong with that.Wipeout 2048 VR is quickly becoming one of my favourite VR games, and possibly my favourite racing game of all time.
I'm playing with dpad... is this wrong? It feels easier somehow.
What's the difference between HD and 2048? Why is 2048 so much more fun for me?
I love Wipeout VR so much! Definitely next to Astro Bot as one of my favourite VR things.
I don't think the Omega Collection set the world on fire when it first came out, but it's one of the main showpieces for the PSVR and has endless glowing impressions from everyone who has played it. Shame they killed Studio Liverpool, but I think Clever Beans/EPOS/XDEV could pull-off a new title if given the chance. It's a perfect franchise for VR.
Agreed OP, Wipeout looks so clean aswell, Surrral being inside those ships/vehicles and racing. Who the hell would have thought that 20 years ago we'd Be in VR with Wipeout, Same with RE7
I remember when Firesprite first popped up I was really, really hoping that they'd be contacted to do a PS4 WipEout after all, or pick-up where SL had left off on their existing PS4 WipEout project.Studio Liverpool sadly got closed but some devs created the new Studio Firespite and they made with The Persistence already a very good PSVR game.
I am confident Sony wants a new Wipeout for PSVR 2 and maybe Firespite is doing that...
These are good observations! Yeah, the tracks in the HD version don't seem very interesting at all. The whole of HD feels like they boiled every piece of grit away from Wipeout and ended up with something very clinical. It's almost like the Star Wars vs Star Trek aesthetic.I've been playing WipEout since the 2097 days and I prefer dpad. Nothing wrong with that.
While I prefer HD to 2048 the reason you like it more may be either aesthetics (2048 is near future and grittier while HD is far future, cleaner even aseptic) or track design (2048 has a lot of shortcuts and alternative routes while they are a lot less frequent in HD) or maybe you like the variety that the different ship types bring compared to the fixed stats by team on HD?

Keep in mind that, if I recall correctly, all HD tracks are originally from either WipEout Pure or WipEout Pulse. With those being from the PSP era, it's not strange that a cleaner more straightforward look and design was used. Specially when Pure was an early PSP showcase. Simpler stuff can help in making shinier graphics, a point that was kind of important in PSP's favour during the early competition between PSP and Nintendo DS.Glad to know I'm not alone with dpad control! :)

The fact that I enjoy Mario Kart probably helps explain why I prefer 2048. Give me short tracks, shortcuts, lots of boosters and weapons and lots of fun ways to feel part of the race with the other ships.
Okay. Thanks! The number of laps changes depending on the speed class you use, when you get up to Phantom the races last 5 laps.
Sometimes it is best to set up a championship so it loads the next race for you automatically as well.

They were, in fact, from those two PSP games. So it was designed around that hardware but WipEout HD was recreated for PS3 from scratch.Keep in mind that, if I recall correctly, all HD tracks are originally from either WipEout Pure or WipEout Pulse. I know they were but even if circuits like Vineta K or Ubermall are recreated with greater detail, their visual signature and track layout remains the same as when they were created with the possible constraints that came with PSP hardware. They were, in fact, from those two PSP games. Hmmm... I've been using analogue. While I'm here what is the strategy for the fastest speeds? A+ etc...I play it on the d-pad. You need seriously quick inputs and tap-turning feels more confident than an analog stick with the way the game plays at those speeds.
In 100% agreement but I think we're in the minority here. Shame it never got a proper Pro patch...IMO Driveclub is the best VR racing game. It has full VR menus, full VR replays with multiple angles, VR cruise mode, and IIRC a photo mode. Its really only held back by the graphics and lack of a pro patch
