It is the whole ear canal thing with tempest audio that Cerny was talking about during the "Road to PS5".
So far it is headphones but more options, etc... as well as speaker, surround sound, etc... will be added later.
Yeah but it showed 5 different 3D audio profiles at 5 different heights to adjust to your ear level?
Being able to use PS5 while data transfers gives me high hopes you'll be able to during transfers from a external drive to the internal one and vice-versa. Which would make the small storage a non issue.
Must be something HRTF related, I remember Cerny plotting a graph on the Road to PS5. Anyway, the best way to pick your profile will always be the test.
i'm wondering if i can use my rumble bass speaker which is installed under my chair for enhanced immersion. i'm using headphones and am looking forward to the 3d audio. for this i have to connect the headphones to my controller. for my rumble i also need to connect the spdif signal (with a hdmi converter) to my receiver which only feeds the .1 bass channel to the rumble speaker. looks like you have to chose one output in the audio settings on the ps5 - so either 3d audio or rumble bass...

This has been confirmed for awhile now.
Cerny got into all of that. Ears have different shapes, so they have presets for the most common generic types.

Cerny explained that each person ear is different so the perception of 3D sound is different for each person too. They added 5 diferent profiles that should cover most types of ears.

Glad to see the process is still just as easy as before. Also nice to see that the external from a PS4 can just plug into the PS5 and work. Wasn't worried but knowing it's just plug in and go is nice.

I would guess it plays a sound for each one, you pick the one that sounds like the sound is level with your head (not higher/lower)
Will PS4 games on an external be able to use boost mode or will you have to slide them internally to get those benefits?
That's probably a setting under "First-Person View" and "Third-Person View".
