Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima both run at 60fps in the high res mode. Days Gone actually doesn't have any other modes. It's just 60fps if you play it on PS5.Did anyone manage to get a twitter response from Corey Barlog re unlocking the framerate in GoW 4k? I'd really like to replay that game but not in 1080p or 30fps lol.
I might also give Days Gone a whirl when my ps5 arrives in a couple of weeks. Heard it's actually quite fun at 60fps. One question tho: what's the resolution in the unlocked framerate mode?
Nice! I'm a bit bummed that I already completed Ghost when it came out. Seems like the 60fos mode was worth waiting for.Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima both run at 60fps in the high res mode. Days Gone actually doesn't have any other modes. It's just 60fps if you play it on PS5.
That is good news that I wasn't expecting at all. It's 1440 for both the farming and combat?
Certainly feels like 60 to me, however in order to get a more scientific answer to this, I'll try capturing some footage today off of both consoles to get a decent comparison. I've got the PS5 version all patched, just need to get it set up on the PS4 Pro again. Will post back here when I'm done. Will try the patch. Something isn't right as is right now and in my post I said it's not 60, but also doesn't feel like 30. Just feels off And the resolution is super soft, even on my 1080p TV. I'm too lazy to reconnect my PS4 and compare though.

Ghost is fucking nuts on PS5. Like I swear they updated the textures or something. Honestly the most next gen looking game I've seen. Completely outclasses valhalla and even last of us. Just beautiful. It was great looking before and I dunno if it's some kind of weird placebo but hot damn.
Couple of Crash Bandicoot 4 vids:
Youtube compression aside, you can sorta see the softer looking image. The still screenshots I took ended up as JPEGS so I'm gonna capture some new ones as PNGs which should be better quality. I'm still reinstalling the game on my PS4, so I've not had chance to compare image quality yet, but the vids seem pretty smooth to me, and I definitely don't think the FPS has any problems on the PS5 from the couple of levels I replayed.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Its definitely too smooth to feel like 30FPS, but the resolution thing still bugs me:Thanks for doing this. The camera movement in the videos looks like it's 60fps.
Frame rate is unlocked, it's resolution what's restricted when updating. You'll miss bug fixes, QoL improvements and New Game+ options.I've ordered a disc copy of God of War. Really frustrating that they're not unlocking frame rate given that option was there at launch.
Sorry I meant unlocked 4K 60fps. I can live without that stuff I think!Frame rate is unlocked, it's resolution what's restricted when updating. You'll miss bug fixes, QoL improvements and New Game+ options.
I've done all these games sequentially, without changing any setting. I am on a 4K display. Are you using a 1080p display? Because these screenshots are all 1080p (ME Supercross doesn't automatically supersample.

Thanks! Note there's something wrong with screenshots you've posted. They have lots of compression artifacts, like multiple generations of JPEG. Are you sending through Twitter, using anonymous Imgur, etc?Ni no kuni Remastered has a resolution and performance mode!

Just forgot, thanks. I'll remove it when next I update.Liabe Brave Not sure if you are aware of this, but you have Warframe in the "upcoming PS5 upgrades" graphic but the PS5 upgrade for it is already out. Came out last week.
Yes, Sakuna appears to be 1440p60 at all times. That is good news that I wasn't expecting at all. It's 1440 for both the farming and combat?

No photo mode, no new game plus. I saw a claim of a late-game bug that stopped progression, but with no details or corroboration.I've ordered a disc copy of God of War. Really frustrating that they're not unlocking frame rate given that option was there at launch. Do I miss anything playing without updates?
Yes, Twitter makes everything into medium-quality JPEGs. If you want to share screenshots, I'd ask that you use a USB drive to get them off the PS5. Detailed instructions are in the Threadmarks.Annoyingly despite choosing PNG the file name suggests its JPEG... guessing I have Twitter to blame for that.
Okay, this is very odd. Good looking out! Can you test if the game does the same changing of options if HDR is disabled on PS4?EDIT: OK, I might have found something interesting....
When HDR is enabled, the game runs at 30 fps. When it's disabled, it runs at 60.
Note that the menus have changed - in the graphic options, instead of a HDR setting, we only have gamma, which can show two settings for the game: HDR 30 fps, or no HDR 60 fps (which is kinda odd because HDR basically has no impact on performance).
I have both versions, on the PC you have complete control of the internal rendering res separately from the display output res. Here it is at 1440p internal/4k reconstructed on the left, PS5 on the right:Generally true, but there's been a change. On PS5, Control is reconstructing from 1440p instead of 1080p on PS4 Pro. The PC version is likely starting from even higher (1440p was the One X setting). I'm going to add this game soon.
So I bought Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part II, and Persona 5: The Royal during the PSN sale. Not sure when I'm going to have time to get through these three games, but they've been high up on my list for awhile. Ghosts looks absolutely incredible at 60 fps on PS5. The HDR effects are pristine! I wish the Last of Us Part II received similar treatment...the game still looks gorgeous though. I haven't tried Person 5 yet; does anyone know if it gets any benefits from PS5?
I've done all these games sequentially, without changing any setting. I am on a 4K display.
I might give another go to the game but that could mean the game isn't recognizing 4K displays on a PS5.
EDIT: OK, I might have found something interesting...
Launched the game today, did some captures, and they really were at 4K this time. But when I launched the game, something was different - the game was running at 30 fps. Which was weird, because on Pro, the game seems to be 45-60 fps.
Then I tried to launch the game in Performance mode in the PS5 settings, with no change.
Then I remembered that I unplugged my PSVR V1, the one that doesn't have an HDR passthrough. So I decided to make another test by disabling HDR. And well...

I think it's a very specific case, but it might be interesting to check other games with and without HDR.
However, it seems that on PS5, the game always runs at 1080p, with or without HDR. Either the 1440p info on the Pro thread is wrong, or there's a problem with the game running on PS5.
My son has been playing through Ratchet for the first time.
We're on PS5 and have no cut scene audio at all. I restarted the system and it's still happening. May do a full uninstall/reinstall of the game later to see if that fixes it.
Iirc this has to do with the PS5 sometimes defaulting to 7.1 audio even if you have a sub 7.1 audio setup. This makes it so the ps5 doesn't properly play audio that should be going to a center speaker.
Try fiddling with system audio settings and see if that works
Insomniac on Twitter said:You likely need to switch your PS5's audio output setting from LPCM to bitstream. It's an issue with the TV/PS5 audio out in that the TV is taking surround but only playing the stereo channels.
The latest batch of screenshots I took I copied to a usb from the ps5, then uploaded them to imgbb. Thanks! Note there's something wrong with screenshots you've posted. Forgive me, I stink at Wreckfest now that I've been playing Dirt 5 for a few weeks.
Further update on this...
You were on the right track.
- All audio - including dialogue - plays fine with PS Gold Headphones
- For TV speakers, I reached out to Insomniac on Twitter and they responded. I had to set my audio output priority to "Bitstream (DTS)" in order to hear everything properly.
Their reply to me:
Not sure if this is the fault of my TV or the PS5, but maybe worth noting for anyone else who may have trouble with Ratchet's dialogue audio.

Is it perhaps my screenshot settings on the ps5 causing the compression?
I thought I had set it up as that. I'll double check when I get back on it. Thanks! You need to set the PS5 to save captures as PNGs for lossless Screenshots. JPEGs won't be good enough.
OK so I apparently had "HDR" on for screenshots which set the file type to auto, which I guess was JPEG. Have turned that off and have set to png now.You need to set the PS5 to save captures as PNGs for lossless Screenshots. JPEGs won't be good enough.
No one from Sony has said that they don't mind if you use PSXDownloadHelper to grab 1.0 versions of digital software that you own the licenses to. So if you're at all worried about getting banned for doing it and need a 100% in writing guarantee, don't do it. I will tell you that there's about 0% chance you'd be banned, because the software doesn't do anything to modify the console or PlayStation Network. But no one on the internet can make the promise or guarantee that you wouldn't be. The software has been in use for years by hundreds of users. How certain are we that using the work around to download 1.0 versions of games won't get you banned?
I'd love to play 4K 60 fps God Of War but it would be extremely dumb of me to get banned when my ps5 is digital only.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Its definitely too smooth to feel like 30FPS, but the resolution thing still bugs me:
Annoyingly despite choosing PNG the file name suggests its JPEG... guessing I have Twitter to blame for that. One thing I wonder though - is motion blur (partially) to blame? I actually disabled motion blur and did a run of Crash Landing and everything its definitely looking sharper, or at least due to the lack of motion blur, its not looking quite as soft. The vids were recorded with motion blur on.
Honestly, playing it back to back on Pro and then 5, I'm starting to wonder if some of this is in my head... but if it is indeed an issue, here's hoping it gets patched.
It does run at 60fps. Not sure why it doesn't feel as smooth to me, but regardless it's the same on both the pro and the ps5Has anyone else tried Crash Bandicoot 4? Some people in the OT are saying that it runs at 60 FPS (like on PS4 Pro) so I'm curious how it actually plays.
I did see this was posted on your channel though not here. Thanks again for going through these!Just realised I posted this in the wrong thread the other day!
It's the reconstruction method. Even with same-sized source and target buffers, console reconstruction doesn't have the headroom to throw at the problem. I'm not sure what the most telling factor is--more frames accumulated, denser resampling, trained scaling kernel, sharpness filter, etc.--but the end result is considerably more precision in the PC version. This comes at the cost of increased distortion halos on motion, but in such a soft game I doubt this is very noticeable during play.I have both versions, on the PC you have complete control of the internal rendering res separately from the display output res. Here it is at 1440p internal/4k reconstructed on the left, PS5 on the right:
Perhaps textures? The PS5 version looks significantly noisier/chunkier.
You can disregard, your Jedi Fallen Order shot is just fine. It's the Watch_Dogs 2 stuff I was referring to, and it turns out it has nothing to do with you. The constant, heavy checker artifacts have always made that game by far the worst-looking CBR implementation I've seen. As it turns out, when you try to compress that fine detail it turns into spongy goo.The latest batch of screenshots I took I copied to a usb from the ps5, then uploaded them to imgbb.
Is it perhaps my screenshot settings on the ps5 causing the compression?
JPEGs from PS5 are usually fine, as long as they don't get compressed again. PNGs are ideal, though. You need to set the PS5 to save captures as PNGs for lossless Screenshots. JPEGs won't be good enough.
All your shots counted as 1440 (except for the prerecorded cutscenes at 1080p), so it seems the dynamic res does stick very close to the max. Given the kind of game this is, there's no way to guarantee it stays high during later full-on chaos. But it seems pretty solid.Just Cause 4
Taking the opportunity of having JC4 free on Plus to bring footage on it. Of course impossible to expect a bump to 60 fps but the game was a solid 30 fps on PS4 Pro, and so it is on PS5. Let's hope for a dynamic 1440p that is closest to that resolution!

Does that work even when copied out to usb? I know the FAQ says they are converted to SDR if shared or exported. That's good to hear, since the JPEGs conserve the HDR Metadata, unlike the PNGs.

Fair point but it was like £7 and mainly I'm just interested to see it.You guys got to give them a chance to patch these games. Covid has probably hit some of these studios pretty hard since working from home wasn't always a thing for them and the fact that they have new projects they are under pressure to push out
Identical to PS4, game never got a Pro patch and it was pretty much always locked at 60 fps. Any potential dips are probably cleaned up on PS5.Wonder what Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection is like? I won't be able to try for a week.
