MS had target specs dev kits out way longer: that was confirmed by hmqgg long ago. Dante. The newer dev kit was SOC APU silicon closer to the final product. Also corresponding to the first RDNA 2.0 sightings... fingers crossed.

Interesting, I honestly thought they were a bit further behind than that.

Interesting; but not sure how that explains the CEO's comment of only hearing a rumor about the power of the XSX.

But either way, being that he has only heard rumors.. he's not some great source of info IMO, I thought his comments on not being able to really develop for the SSD were more interesting lol

Developers like Daedalic CEO and Jonathan Blow seem more keen on Playstation than on Xbox, also Jonathan Blow have always looked a bit unpleasant with Microsoft.

So far developers seem to give more praise to Ps5, which to me appears to be the moew powerful machine or more advanced one...
In the article this guy calls the specs of the Series X huge (he has only heard rumours of the specs). He also seems pretty positive about it. Definitely didn't get the impression that he's favoring either console.

Gotta say that this doesn't mean PS is more powerful but probably more friendly to developers. It can be tools, documentation, support, specific tech, etc.

in terms of an initial silicon tape out yes, they were. Oberon had been out for months. OG dev kits are just PC specs and recommended hardware.

I know! Does his comments make any sense? Doubt.gif

- BG&E2 is not progressing well at all. It looks rough and it barely runs at all. Only good things I can say is that the pre rendered cutscenes all look really good and that the story is planned out
- The delays of R6Q, G&M, and WDL, are all to get them to be ported to next gen as to be cross gen titles
- Next AC is viking themed and brings back the boat features from Black Flag
- New 2D Rayman in the works, uses same artstyle and engine as Legends and Origins. Also a new 3D Rayman is being prototyped.

Rockstar:
- Bringing GTA 3, San Andres, Vice City, Red Dead Redemption 1, Bully, and GTA5 to Switch. GTA5 will be one of the first games to use the 64 GB cartridges.
- Bully 2 is going to be announced some time in 2020. It's set in a college town.
- GTA6 is in production for next gen systems. It's going to be set in the entire state of Florida, where you can travel through the entire state. Sony has in fact payed for timed exclusivity for 6 months after launch. They payed a hefty fee for it. This time it will also feature a women as one of the three main protagonists.

- Region locking is gone on Series X, and the Series X is backwards compatible with every Xbox disc ever

Sony:
- Spider-Man 2 is a PS5 exclusive and will be announced at E3 2019
- Speaking of which Sony has decided to return to E3 but no press conference, just a State of Play and a booth on the showfloor
- PS5 is $499, no region locking, and is backwards compatible with every PlayStation disc ever
- PSVR will work with the system but not much is planned for it in terms of new games besides a sequel to Astro Bot
- Last of Us 2 will get an upgraded port for PS5 on launch

Nintendo:
- No information on Smash besides the Capcom DLC and that I only know because of a Capcom source. Smash leaks seem to have dried up.

This might have been relevant 10 years ago, now all consoles basically run the same toolset and have similar APIs. This "easier to develop for" is actually complete nonsense. The only thing you could probably say is that the devkit has more mature tools atm.

Wait why is dealer banned here? I get that he is basically a MS ad but he did break the 12tf story before Windows central and has had "some" ok incite into both consoles. Is there something he has done I should know about? Talking a twitter he seems like a nice guy that's just way to into MS. (Nothing wrong with that but non biased opinions are generally better imo)

Google/Stadia:
- 3D Platformer staring the Dinosaur from the offline dinosaur game

- The only reason X9 is stadia timed exclusive is because Google payed big time for it

When was this? I thought Tom Warren was first on that news?

I'm still hopeful that Lockhart will be a little more than 4TF. I think it should be a step ahead of X1X, not equal or slightly better.

Blow initially released The Witness solely on PS4 and PC. So if he's going to do the same for this upcoming project, it would make sense for him to not have an XSX dev kit.
Agreed! Microsoft (Minecraft Team) also does not have PS5 dev kits to date is what I have read. There will certainly be exceptions to the rule when it come to these types of studios.

One of the verified folks on here said that the devs he knows with devkits just have one person or a small group getting their current-gen game up and running on the devkit...make of that what you will

The way I see it Sony are targeting a price point, either £399 or £450 max.
PS5 is built to a price so I think it'll come in at 10.5TF maybe a bit more. Which is still an awesome console with power. Now if only they can have BC with PS1-3 would be awesome.
X Series is targeted at people who want the most power and don't mind paying £499-599. So the X series will have more power but the price will reflect that.
I will be pleasently surprised if the PS4 is equal or close to X. 1.5TF less at £100 cheaper is fantastic

This might have been relevant 10 years ago, now all consoles basically run the same toolset and have similar APIs. This "easier to develop for" is actually complete nonsense. The only thing you could probably say is that the devkit has more mature tools atm.
It's not at all. Every company has its own tools for diverse stuff. This is like saying that develop to Android and IOS is the same thing. Every little difference that can improve your development time makes a difference for developers. I say that because I'm one.

Gotta say that this doesn't mean PS is more powerful but probably more friendly to developers. It can be tools, documentation, support, specific tech, etc.
I'd stay away from the comparisons as well. It just tells us what development is like on PS5. Between what Jim, Shu, and devs have said so far, it looks to be very well constructed (including tools and things of that nature) to make things as smooth as possible for devs.

Let's talk about feature besides RT VRS VRR ALLM and TFs.
Wishlist update
  • Replaceable NVMe (by Colbert )
  • thunderbolt 3 support (by Colbert )
  • Integer scaling (by RoboPlato )
  • Memory expension port like the N64 (by DrKeo )
  • Dedicated Remoteplay hardware with Dybamic h.256 compression with ultra low latency.(by thuway)
  • A good web browser, better patch handling and responsive UI. (by Thera )
  • Discord integration into PSN/XBL (by Whatislove )
  • Dolby Vision for games (by Colbert )
  • More graphics options especially for Raytracing, HDR ( on/off ) (by Vimto )
  • Wireless charging ports (by Consequence )
  • Playing from the cloud while installing/downloading (by SeanMN )
who wants to add to the list?
Oh man, I was joking regarding that N64 expansion slot, even though I won't be surprised to see something similar for expending the SSD with a storage pack sold separately :)

I get all that but aren't the latest test in the github leak from June of last year 17 months before launch and correct me if I'm wrong but someone mentioned that the first tests in that file go all the way back to 2018. Even if we say that these are the PS5's final expected performance specs I can't believe that the final usable silicone would of been locked down. It doesn't jive with final kits still not close to being out for developers.
IIRC the tests are from 2018 through mid 2019. 2018 is probably Ariel, mid 2019 is probably Oberon B0. AFAIK, mid 2019 is too late to redesign the SOC, at that point you can only play with clocks and replace/add/remove parts like memory modules unless you are willing to suffer delays and spend millions. But that's a question for Albert Penello..

What conflicting info?

Matt and Klee have said both systems are close, about 10% / XBO vs. XBS difference between them. Klee and Reiner have said the PS5 is slightly more powerful, the difference being mere flops. I don't recall the MS insiders saying the XSX would be much more powerful, let alone 30%, only that they believe it is to some undefined extent. In that context, the Github leak is the outlier.
Correct me if I don't remember well, but didn't both hmqgg and tomwarren hinted that the XSX is more powerful? I even recall Matt betting on MS going for the more powerful machine. Maybe my memory is failing me, that's not one of the things I follow strictly in this forum.

That's what I read too. And Phill, himself, said that in an interview. I guess Sony won't send them any devkit until Sony finalize everything.

- No information on Smash besides the Capcom DLC and that I only know because of a Capcom source. Smash leaks seem to have dried up.
- Animal Crossing Switch Lite variant is coming
- Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes are next year's Pokémon games and will have the ability to transfer every Pokémon to that game after the backlash of SwSh, which while it didn't effect sales, was considered a PR blunder internally
- Tomodachi Life sequel is coming
- Was some rumors that they were interested in buying out Level 5 but nothing concrete

Besthada:
- Fallout 4 port for Switch, uses 64 GB cartridge
- Fallout 76 is still being worked on and the plan is to try and make a come back somehow
- Starfield is planned to get a full reveal at E3, and is set to launch in 2022
- Fallout 5 has started early planning and prototyping. Don't expect it for at least 3 years
- New Vegas will be getting an HD remaster on all platforms, including switch, as a sort of apology to Fallout fans after the 76 disaster. It'll include all the DLC.
- Eternal was delayed mainly to fix the multiplayer which has been very buggy and laggy. They do not want a repeat of the 76 launch and are making sure the online features and multiplayer works as best it can. The Switch port is planned for the Fall.

SEGA:
- Sonic Adventure Remake is coming
- Mania 2 is a 2020 title, and is pretty much almost done
- Team Sonic Racing major DLC update with new characters and tracks, including an appearance from AiAi from Super Monkey Ball
- Dreamcast SEGA Ages titles finally happening
- Super Monkey Ball 1,2, and 3 are getting HD remakes, and will be released on Switch first as a timed exclusive in 2021
- Chao Garden Mobile is like the chao garden from SA2 but with a more mobile friendly design and a gatcha system for variant chaos

Google/Stadia:
- 3D Platformer staring the Dinosaur from the offline dinosaur game
- Lots of studios pulling out and ending stadia support and Google is fighting hard to get some to stay
- The only reason X9 is stadia timed exclusive is because Google payed big time for it
- Google doesn't seem to be ending support of the project for at least 2 years but after that the future of stadia is uncertain
- They have noted the ads are cringe inducing and are bad, and plan to try a new strategy for them
- New color scheme for the controller is coming: Silver and Gold

Netherrealm:
- Injustice 3 is going to be the first next gen title from them
- MK11 Port to PS5 and Series X
- Marvel Vs DC is being floated around with Marvel but it likely won't happen
- Future MK11 DLC includes Goro, Doomslayer, and Ed Boon himself as a free joke character

Honestly, the Xbox stuff seems reasonable (which I guess supports it being fake, because that's how these things go). I scoffed at Halo Infinite being bundled with the XSX, but then I realized that they're probably giving away some months of Game Pass with anyone who buys one, and so basically since it's going to be included in Game Pass anyways making it free for all XSX owners actually makes a lot of sense.

It also got me thinking about how GamePass is such a great value proposition for Xbox Series X at launch. Once you include "three months of GamePass free" with each console, you're essentially bundling all the first-party launch content (plus the back catalog of course). That's actually pretty huge, especially for anyone who's on the fence between XBX and PS5.

Based on that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony do something like include at least a month of PS Now with PS5 purchases, and include GoW, HZD and Spiderman in the service. While it may not be a huge draw for current PS4 owners (who presumably already own those titles if they're interested), it would be a big draw for switchers.

I have £500 squared away for the PS5, console only or with camera/accessories etc.

Just need a preorder and release date, then back to destiny 2 until release.

Its fitter faster stronger than ps4 so not fused about final specs, just have a 4k player for my movies and I'm set.

When was this? I thought Tom Warren was first on that news?

There was actually some old leak, months and months ago, that had pretty much everything right ironically, if you believe the prevailing 12/9 TF stuff anyway. People ignored it at the time.

Dont have a source but saw somebody post it recently.

Why would anyone ban dealer gaming he plays all systems and has great insight into how tech will preform he has proved it many times and isnt bias or toxic ffs🤦‍♂️

Dealer is a toxic console warrior. Anyone who says he isn't should really recalibrate their console war detector.

Iirc he made some homophobic remarks in the past, too.

Why would anyone try to defend this guy?

Ya it's not the money of a new console that hurts. It's the games with it that really makes your wallet hurt. XSX with gamepass at launch is ridiculous. Makes a 499-599 price not so bad since you're gonna already have dozen games off the bat. Halo infinite hopefully too.

When you throw enough shit at the wall, some will stick.

Best way to put it. Throw in some predictions that are obvious (or already predicted). Mix in some fan fiction. Suddenly people buy into the bullshit fan-fiction because they think the obvious stuff gives it credibility. Being a fraud is an art.
